The Pillar of Ascension

Time. The line of everlasting existence through events and history? Or was it something more? Fact was, time was not something that could truthfully be explained by anyone. It was infinite. Just like the mysteries it held deep within its roots...just like the all powerful existence known as The Force. So many thought of time as a way to recognize the present...Others believed it to be so much more. A force beyond comprehension doing its work unintentionally and perfectly all at once. The stubborn existence of organization that held the past within a seal. The bringer of the future and the giver of the present. Some believed time to be a god all itself, invisible to the naked eye and unheard through religion. And for all anyone knew it very well could have been. When phrases are shouted out like ‘we are out of time!’ or ‘Times up.’ To some they are just phrases, to others they are tribute to the all mighty god of time. Whoever it may be weather it was real or not. Or perhaps…for something to be real one must simply believe it to be real? Faith was a powerful substance in many cultures throughout history. The Jedi...the Sith. A multitude of other factions who all followed their own obscured beliefs and faiths.

Consisting side by side with time was the gift of memories. A function of history stored within the subconscious of ones mind throughout the period of their lives. Of course…there were always memories better left forgotten. Despite the fact memories would always eventually be forgotten in the downward spiral called time. The memories of the past, of those before us. Never told from the beholder but often from the witness. Stories and legends passed down generation to generation but with each generation only losing more and more of the truth as the line between reality and fantasy grows ever so thinner. It was the same with the beings that traveled the world. Over time ones blood does not strengthen. It weakens. If one were to make a copy, of a copy, of a copy it would not come out stronger. But weaker. This has always been true. The memories that held the truth where lost…forgotten In time.

It was sad...in its own way. Life was given to the galaxy billions and billions of eons ago and since then what has anyone done with it? Cultures and civilizations rise and fall...beings as powerful as gods live out their existence until they to wither away and die. The Force had created many gifts within the universe...and yet just as many curses. The concept of balance was obscure and almost nonexistent in today's world of madness. Factions going to war over little more than the practice of blind faith...how simplistic.

The Ice Queen had been questioning a lot lately...about her life...the life of others...life in the galaxy. She had become more distressed than usual. Years of baring a cold frozen heart was beginning to weigh on her...she wan-...no. She needed answers. A signal, a sign. Anything to help her understand the feelings that made her mind spin.

And as those crimson optics scanned the inner interior of her ship she inhaled...filling her lungs to capacity. Then exhaled...her gaze wandering over those who walked back and fourth along the balcony and staircases...heading to the next area where they could learn learn from the next instructors. The ship had been divided into several sections...each form of magic from along the galaxy had been categorized and given a section...Destruction magic, Alteration, Mysticism, Conjuring, ect. Each section had it's own specialist instructor who taught members of The Awoken what they desired...

Winter knew it was unusual...but she wanted to revitalize her withering culture...she wanted to teach others a path less walked by others in the galaxy. The limitless potential and unexplored power that could be unlocked if one simply...dedicated themselves to its practice. At first, when she came up with the idea for her little faction it did not seem to have much support...but sure enough after her Galaxy Wide Broadcast it took off rather nicely. She was...pleased with its progress.

Her crimson gaze observed two young children as they ran into the main hall with their spellbooks...strange. Winter had not carried a Spellbook before...she supposed children needed to remember their incantations somehow. And as the young boy and girl laughed and giggled Winter tilted her head slightly as they both looked to The Queen...

Winter, unlike most who desired to sit on a fluffy throne above everyone else...Winter sat within the center of the ship on a small circular spot with a few stairs leading up to it...she was at ground level. Watching those who came and went along the halls of her ship. The children...who looked to be about thirteen excitedly approached The Ice Queen...their eyes full of brightness and hope...something Winter had lost long ago. The two approached, gave a slight bow as a sign of respect and conformation.

The Queen had been sitting most of the time...her legs crossed over one another as she meditated and practiced her own abilities. Winter gave a nod and lifted a hand, gesturing their permission to come on up. The two children exchanged glances and smiled, slowly approaching the queen and taking a seat on either side of her. The woman looked to each and offered a...rather forced smile. Winter rarely smiled...but she had no desire to dishearten the lads.

"Good evening children...did you enjoy your studies?" Winter asked warmly, trying to see less cold and ruthless as she was normally depicted. The children nodded rapidly and smiled.

"Yes ma'am! I learned how to Water Shape!" The boy exclaimed, hugging his spellbook and bouncing lightly. The young girl beside him piped up next.

"I learned how to use Speed of the Toocha..." She said before frowning a bit. "I keep running into walls though..." She muttered, making Winter cock a brow. She had never heard of anyone running into walls when using the spell...but she supposed it could not be helped when it came to children.

"The more time you invest into your craft. The better you become...Either way, it pleases me to see you two are taking your teachings seriously...When did your parents intend for you to return to Dathomir?" Winter asked curiously, watching as the two looked at one another and shrugged.

"Not for a while. Mum is studying Alchemy, Da is with her but i don't think he is very good." The girl explained. Winter scoffed a laugh and gave a brief nod.

"Mmm...i see. Well, i wish them both luck in their pursuits. Now run along young ones...i'd suggest going to get some food in you before your next session." She urged, giving them a stern look that made them nod and give a slight bow before standing to their feet and stepping down the stairs. Heading off towards the ships cafeteria. Winter sighed and went back to meditating...closing her eyes and taking a breath before relaxing herself.

While some considered this a school of sorts...The Awoken were far more than that...and one of these days. The Galaxy would discover this first hand.

Gray had come to The Pillar of Ascension to try and learn something about the force. He had come to learn that he was force sensitive and had even found some people willing to teach him how to control his overflowing abilities. They were teaching him a lot, but he wanted to know more. He wanted to know how to use the force, but what he needed to know was what the force was. He knew that was the most loaded and trickiest of questions he could ask. He knew that there was no end to it either. He knew all of this, but he needed to understand it anyways.

Gray was wearing his gray collared, button up shirt with a dark blue vest over it and gray slacks the same shade as his shirt. He had his leather boots on, his leather duster, and his blaster pistol strapped to his right leg. He walked through the place for awhile until he found an interesting scene. He watched the Queen herself speaking with two young kids. He could tell, or more accurately feel, her confusion. It brought a smile to his face as he watched. He had seen her plenty of times, but he had yet to actually meet the woman. He didn't really know what kind of person she was, but he was willing to find out. He waited until the kids left and then walked over to her.

Gray said as he got close to her, " Hello there beautiful. Not use to dealing with kids are you? Not that I'm much of one talk. Never been around them much myself." He just smiled at her. He made sure to keep himself an appropriate distance away from her. He didn't come across as the kind of person who showed respect for status or authority, but he did in his own way.

The Wrong Side of Heaven
Eventual Retribution docked nearby to the personal flagship of [member="Lady Sovereign"], of whom he found himself following like a sheep to a shepherd. He had seen firsthand how cold-hearted she was beneath her intoxicatingly gorgeous exterior, developing some distaste for the woman already, and yet he still followed. That ability he witnessed her meditating upon on the fringe world he met her on...what was it? Why was she force-sensitive, yet could not feel her presence through it? What was she? Evan knew why he cared so much. He had nowhere in the galaxy to go. Everywhere, he found himself an outcast. Around her, she amassed so much support and promised so much with 'The Awoken'. Maybe this was his calling?

But he certainly didn't like following a leader he was still trying to find something respectable within.

Starship docked, Evan made his way out and started making his way to her starship, certain she'd find something heartless to say today. As usual. A mortal body sculpted by the Gods, but a mind born of the Devil.

The trip to the Pillar of Ascension had been a long journey for Heaven's Chariot, the prized ship of Juliana Darkmourn. As the exploration vesicle approached the Praxeum Ship, Juliana began to think to herself. I wonder what secrets lay inside this place. Hopefully ancient Sith grimoiers and holocrons sat within its walls. She had been searching the galaxy for new magics to increase her spellbook. Listening to the call of the her ancestor, the young witch began to imagine the possibilities of new and exciting powers. If nothing else, maybe a clue to somewhere else that was riddled with knowledge.

The ship began to descend next to one of the docking rings. The force was strong here and the aura was mixed. The ship attached itself to the docking ring, the witch proceeded to equip her pale white armor. First her breastplate, next her shoulder pad, then her battle skirt. The force was rippling through her body. What is this place? The young witch began to open the ship's bay door. The Pillar of Ascension was huge in width and length. Stepping on to the massive spacecraft, she began to move along one of the walls. There was a door to the right of her. Juliana was surprised that no one came to greet her. It must have been a busy day. She descended into the corridor, it was brightly lit and people were being heard off in the distance. I should probably avoid contact with these people. Unfortunately, I can't risk using Shadow of the Assassin yet. Takes too long to get my body to use it again. She was referring to her force cloak ability, which she could only use for five minutes and it took at least two hours to reuse. If she needed to get out quickly, it was the only thing that could help her.

Turning the corner of the large hallway, she saw what appeared to be a woman talking to two children. The children scampered off, leaving the woman to herself. Then, a man slowly walked up to her. He seemed to be smooth talking her, Juliana used it as a way move to the next area without being spotted. Where is the library? If this ship is this big, it must have one.

The search was on.

The Seroth-class frigate Defiance had served the Lords of the Fringe in a very specific role. Its function had been to sneak inside command ships' hangars and unload a disproportionate amount of weapons fire. A nimble little vessel, packed with electronics almost to the exclusion of crew, the Defiance outgunned the Pillar of Ascension about ten to one. When the Defiance decloaked off the Pillar's bow, though, its massive agrocity turbolasers were de-powered. Shields remained up, of course. One could signal goodwill without being an idiot.

At the helm, a glorified pilot's chair, one scarred finger touched the comm panel.

"This is Ember Rekali of Dathomir. I'm looking for an audience with the leader of the Awoken."

Ghorua the Shark walked the corridors of the Pillar absent-mindedly. Today, he was patrolling the ship. He usually wouldn't do such a trivial task, but a security guard had called in sick, and he was close-by. The massive Herglic shook the floor panels as he walked, trying to squeeze past any Awoken that walked by. The large Bounty Hunter had recently recieved extreme genetic modifications, making him into a ten-and-a-half foot monster of a being. He was confident he could win in an arm-wrestling contest against just about anyone. If only the only form of fighting was arm-wrestling.

Walking past the comms room, he heard the message of [member="Ember Rekali"]. The massive being smiled, showing off his rows of sharp teeth. Perhaps there WAS something for him to do. Without waiting to see if the request would be granted, Ghorua walked quickly to the docking area. Whoever was calling was important enough to request an audience with the Snow Queen, and that warranted an escort. A large, half-ton escort.

Quickly jogging to the hangar, the Herglic stopped just in the doorway to the rest of the Pillar. He checked his equipment quickly. He wore his extremely large Koodan-Class battle armor, now extremely easy to move around in, thanks to his enhancements. His blaster, the Spinster, lounged on his back. A few other various toys littered his bandolier, and his vibroknife was strapped securely inside his boot. Just in case things got dicey. Ghorua didn't think it would ammount to that though. This was probably just some One Sith delegate. One could never be too careful, however.
