Its creation was commissioned by Arisa Yune, then acting commander of the Antarian Rangers, to provide the paramilitary force with a new mainline starfighter that could easily be reproduced in house to reduce their dependency on sometimes fickle private manufacturers. [SIZE=9pt]In keeping with current trends, it is a modular fighter design that can be adapted for different mission profiles, be it escort duty, anti-ship assault, close air support, etc. However, it has a few features that set it out from the pack, like its excellent standoff capabilities in certain configurations, enabling it to outrange many competing platforms in dogfights for that oh so important first strike capability to ensure a successful kill. [SIZE=9pt]Much like the[/SIZE][SIZE=9pt] [/SIZE][SIZE=9pt]T-70 X-wing[/SIZE][SIZE=9pt] [/SIZE][SIZE=9pt]with its swivel mounted blaster cannon, the Talon sports a turreted Vespa auto-ripper, and a Casper active protection system for point defense and warding away attackers. These systems also enable it to contend with the usual whirlwind of enemy point defenses during attack runs, like the [/SIZE][SIZE=9pt]HARM[/SIZE][SIZE=9pt] guided missile weapon system. More offensively, the Vespa can still be used in tandem with the Talon’s other armaments to shred through targets. [/SIZE]
