STRENGTHS
- Sacred Item (Force Imbued). This is a sacred relic of the Witches of Dathomir, strengthening the Nightsister or Nightbrother's connection with the spirit realm. This eased the ability for the Witch to summon the spirit ichor and provided greater mental clarity for the casting of spells.
- Elemental Aspected. The connection to the spirit realm gave the skull and pauldron exceptional resilience to elemental attacks. To a lesser extent, this also applied to other forms of energy, giving it above average resistance to plasma and ion-based attack.
- No Defense Against Sonic-based Weaponry.
- Weak Against Kinetics. While the rancor leather is quite durable, the Nightsister skull is a relic of bone and can be smashed with a good hit.
- Force Connection Required. The enchantment on this talisman only function in areas where a connection with the Force is possible.
The Keyn Rez'tezla was the Mistwalker counterpart to the Dathomir Nightsister melee armguard.
Translated as Speaker for the Dead, these pauldrons were connected with a sacred Nightsister bloodline skull and then immersed in the spirit ichor. When worn by a Nightsister or Nightbrother of the Mistwalker Clan, it signified that one had received the recognition of the Clan as a shaman, who ordinarily served as mediators between this world and that of the spirits. Because the creation of these relics required the use of a sacred artifact, very few were known to be among the Clan. They were primarily used for when a Nightsister or Nightbrother shaman would have to defend the Clan, particularly away from their ancestral holdings where their powers were strongest -- such as on Dathomir or Talay. With the Clan's recent move to Alaris Prime, the Keyn Res'tzela have become a more common sight, as the Witches acclimate their religious practice to the spirits of that historically Wookiee occupied moon.
Oddly, while of considerable reverence among the Witches of Dathomir, Jedi seemed to react negatively to the notion of wearing a human skull on one's shoulder. But such backwards wizards can hardly be expected to be civil when they cling to backward belief in some mystical energy field rather than the power of the elder gods.
