OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Unlike the original SLAM, which drew power from the mount ship's weapons to provide a boost of speed to it, the Kessel SLAM is actually a shunting mechanism that can draw power from either the maneuvering thrusters or the main engine to boost the other. So it can be used to boost either speed or maneuverability, but an additional power intake to a propulsion system can have consequences if kept on for too long: a ship equipped with the Kessel SLAM can have its engines or maneuvering thrusters overheat, and then leave the ship with either no speed or no maneuverability respectively if these components fail.
- Intent: To submit a fresh version of the SLAM for the open market.

- Permissions: N/A
- Primary Source: SLAM
- Manufacturer: Ringovinda Systems
- Affiliation: Open Market
- Model: Kessel sublight acceleration motor
- Modularity: Yes: Can be mounted on a wide array of ion engines
- Production: Mass-produced
- Material: Electronic components, engine components.
- Speed boost mode: Can increase speed by up to 2 ratings at the corresponding expense of maneuverability ratings (for example, a ship that normally have an average speed and maneuverability would then have very high speed and very low maneuverability)
- Maneuverability boost mode: Can increase maneuverability by up to 2 ratings at the corresponding expense of speed ratings (for example, a ship that would normally have an average speed and maneuverability would then have very high maneuverability and very low speed)
- Dual mode: can switch between a speed boost and a maneuverability boost
- Engine overheat: When used for prolonged periods, it can cause the engines or the maneuvering thrusters to overheat and, from there, fail, especially when used to increase a mobility attribute by 2 ratings
