STRENGTHS
  • Double Command Bridge - Retaining the design aesthetic and features of previous iterations, the Kenobi-class maintains the dual command bridge with each serving individual purposes. The port tower maintains the Starfighter Command Bridge whilst the Starboard tower maintains the primary control, helm, and command bridge.
  • Expanded Armaments - Compared to previous iterations, these vessels come equipped with an expanded arsenal and heavier weapons which allow them to stand toe-to-toe against equally sized vessels.
  • Heavy Armor - To ensure that the myriad of support craft and starfighter wings have a home to return; the Kenobi-class boasts impressive defensive capabilities that far outshine those of its predecessors.
  • Dorsal Flight Deck - Located at the base of the command towers and running the length of the vessel is a set of heavy, reinforced bow doors that can be opened to reveal the primary flight deck. This flight deck allows these vessels to rapidly deploy the hundreds of Starfighters and Bombers that the vessels are known to carry.
  • Ventral Proton Beam Cannon - Mounted in the ventral hangar bay, the primary weapon of the Kenobi-class is the experimental Proton Beam Cannon. Downsized and not as destructive as its larger counterparts, the Beam Cannon remains an impressive weapon to unleash against enemy vessels.
WEAKNESSES
  • Weapon Coverage - The majority of the vessel's primary arsenal covers the forward, port, and starboard sections of the vessel resulting in limited coverage of the aft and ventral sections of the vessel. This often requires that the vessel maintain a defensive screen to assist in protecting these highly vulnerable vectors of attack.
  • Command Bridge Location - Though serving a function and providing the command staff with a commanding view, the location of the command bridge itself poses a threat. Easily accessible and targeted, sufficient damage to the area can cause the vessel to be rendered inoperable.
  • Slow and Ungainly - These vessels were designed with heavy engagements and carrying and deploying multitudes of Starfighters and Bombers in mind. The addition of heavier armor plating, additional defensive measures, and offensive weaponry has also greatly reduced the sublight acceleration and maneuverability of these vessels.
  • Dorsal Flight Deck - While this feature allows for the vessel to easily and rapidly deploy its contingent of Starfighters, Bombers, and Support Craft, it also poses one of the greatest dangers. The heavy, reinforced doors take time to open and close, and this process renders the interior of the vessel vulnerable to attack or infiltration.
  • Ventral Proton Beam Cannon - Though serving as the primary armament of the Kenobi-class, the weapon is limited in its capabilities and use. Due to its location, mounted in the ventral hangar bay, the vessel must be over or above its target to utilize its beam cannon. Likewise, the ventral hangar bay must be open to fire the weapon, potentially leaving the interior of the vessel vulnerable to attack or infiltration. Additionally, once fired, it takes time to properly cycle the weapon, allowing it to cool and recharge before it can be fired again.
DESCRIPTION
While the Dark Empire held the Deep Core momentarily, it was the Keera Major Orbital Array that ensured the people of Keera Major were protected, waiting for the day that the Galactic Alliance would return to its beleaguered shipyard. During that time, the scientists and shipwrights of Aether Systems began to develop and design a vessel - one that was heavily armed and armored, and capable of carrying hundreds of starfighters, bombers, and shuttles - the intended purpose of which was that the vessel would have enough firepower and material to protect a singular or multiple neighboring star systems. Once the Galactic Alliance returned to Keera Major, they were greeted by the Kenobi-class Systems Defender, which in turn, were rapidly deployed into the weary Galactic Alliance Defense Force.

The Kenobi-class Systems Defender retains many of the design features and aesthetics of its predecessors, specifically, the inclusion of the dual command bridges that dominate the upper section of the vessel. Maintaining its dual purposes, the Starboard Bridge contains the primary controls, helm, and command bridge whilst the Port Bridge contains the Starfighter Command Bridge. Likewise, the vessel retained the impressive dorsal flight deck which takes up considerable real estate - located at the base of the command tower and running the length of the vessel to the bow of the ship. When opened, this allows the Kenobi-class to rapidly deploy the Starfighters, Bombers, and Support Craft that it carries - however - during this time, the interior of the vessel is vulnerable to attack or infiltration due to the time it takes to open and close the heavy, reinforced doors that otherwise conceal the flight deck.

Additionally, when compared to its predecessors, the Kenobi-class boasts a far more formidable arsenal and defensive capabilities, however, this also comes at the expense of its speed and maneuverability. This is largely due to the addition of heavier armor plating, additional shield generators, and additional equipment and components required for the various armaments. However, the greatest weapon that the Kenobi-class carries, is its experimental Proton Beam Cannon, which has been mounted in the ventral hangar bay, providing the vessel with an impressive primary weapon. It should though, be noted, that the weapon has its drawbacks, primarily, its placement. Due to it being located in the ventral hangar bay, that section of the vessel must be opened to bring the weapon to bear, rendering the interior of the vessel vulnerable; likewise, the vessel must be above or over its intended target to make use of the weapon and once fired, it takes time to properly cycle the weapon - allowing it to cool before it can be fired again.

Though the Kenobi-class has just as many drawbacks as it does improvements, its overall capabilities often outshine its weak points. Capable of carrying hundreds of Starfighters, Bombers, and Support Craft, the Kenobi-class can deploy an entire Division, along with its accompanying vehicles and materials, planetside in a matter of hours. Designed to provide greater defensive capabilities and protect entire systems with minimal support, the Kenobi-class represents an impressive addition to the overall Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet. With the Galactic Convergence having caused the Galaxy to spiral into even greater chaos, these vessels represent stability, with their presence showing that the Alliance is still capable of protecting its member worlds and ensuring peace and order throughout the Alliance as it faces new challenges and threats.
