PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Kellan possesses a strong and athletic build, one of the few gifts from his time in the wild places of a forgotten world. His skin bears a warm, rich shade of brown, bearing many gouges and scars, there are few places on his body that haven’t been marked by his time spent stranded. Short, jet-black hair frames his face with a subtle hint of unruliness, with the dark nest of curls having recently been trimmed to make him presentable as a Sith.

His eyes, once dark brown and filled with the calm serenity characteristic of a Jedi, have undergone a startling change thanks to his prolonged use of the Dark Side: the irises are now a fiery red-rimmed yellow, and the whites are shot with red, always looking at the Galaxy with barely contained contempt. His mouth is nearly always turned down in a perpetual frown, and very rarely he will smile when he achieves victory. The overall aura surrounding Kellan is one of a conflicted warrior, with features that echo the conflict in his existence. He still holds his head high, and presents himself with the air of confidence that most Jedi have, but his demeanor is malicious, and most who see him would assume that his intent is anything but good.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Kellan is troubled young man, full of anger and immense sadness, but driven toward the singular goal of revenge. He's a man locked in grief, due to both trauma and his own choice and is unable to move past the death of his Jedi Master, whom he still holds dear in his heart as the sole maternal figure he'd ever had. Isolation has made him distant and paranoid, slow to trust and form relationships, and the intricacies of politics are entirely lost on him, if he spoke in public, he would be described as harsh and sharp tongued, or simply blunt to the point of rude. While cold, harsh, and full of anger, Kellan is by no means cruel, and lacks the sadistic streak that marks so many of his peers, he desires power for the sake of vengeance, not personal gain, but is more than reluctant to share this with anyone he encounters.

STRENGTHS

Attuned - Due to a mix of raw talent, genes, and having spent years in close proximity to an ancient Sith temple, Kellan possesses an extraordinary attunement to the Force, resulting in a easier manipulation of the Dark Side than a great many of his peers and finely tuned senses passively enhanced by the Force. This heightened awareness allows him to anticipate danger, sense disturbances in the Force, and perceive the emotions and intentions of those around him. Even without the Force, Kellan has a fine intuition from living among wild animals and dangerous predators, making him seem mildly paranoid.

Unwavering Focus: Fueled by the trauma of losing his master, Kellan possesses unwavering drive, and will go to incredible lengths to achieve whatever goal he sets his mind to. This determination makes him resilient in the face of adversity, allowing to push through whatever obstacle stands in his way, nothing short of death will stop Kellan when he sets his mind onto something. It also contributes to his ability to stay committed to his goal of avenging his fallen mentor, seeing it as the ultimate goal in his journey

WEAKNESSES

Silent - Trauma suffered from witnessing his master cut down in front of him as a child has rendered Kellan selectively mute, unable to speak in most situations to many of the people he encounters. Additionally, the words that do come out of the young man’s mouth are stuttered and broken, often taking great effort to utter the simplest of sentences.

Traumatic Vengeance: Kellan's relentless pursuit of vengeance against the Sith who killed his master consumes him, often clouding his judgment and driving him to reckless behavior. His obsession blinds him to potential allies and compromises his ability to see the bigger picture, leading him down a path of self-destructive behavior that isolates him further from those who might offer him support or guidance. He’s prone to refusing assistance and pushing people away when he feels they’re getting too close to him, and is prone to long periods of self-isolation.

HISTORY

Kellan Gray was born to a noble family on Kuat with a rich history among the famed Kuat Drive Yards. From an early age, Kellan exhibited a strong connection to the Force, catching the attention of Jedi recruiters who recognized his potential. After a brief talk with his parents, the Jedi Order welcomed him into their rank as a youngling. Kellan would be trained at the Jedi Temple, and quickly rise through the ranks as a promising Padawan under the guidance of Master Talia Solas. His training was harsh for a Jedi, and he became proficient in both lightsaber combat and the more spiritual aspects of the Force. Together, Kellan and Master Talia embarked on various missions, ranging from peacekeeping to exploring the ruins of their ancient enemy, bringing back numerous artifacts to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

During one expedition to a remote planet known for its dark history, they delved into the heart of Sith ruins, seeking to prevent any resurgence of dark power. The ominous atmosphere weighed heavily on them as they uncovered ancient artifacts and cryptic inscriptions, and Kellan could feel the call of the Dark Side the deeper into the ruins they went. Unbeknownst to them, a cunning Sith Lord had been monitoring their every move, waiting for her chance to strike at the pair before they completed their mission. In a blinding ambush within the ruins, the Sith Lord emerged, striking down Master Jaina before Kellan's eyes in a fierce duel that lasted barely more than a few clashes of their lightsabers. The Sith Lord revealed herself to Kellan as a woman with white hair and a dark smile who'd left the Padawan to his own devices before leaving him for dead. The devastation left Kellan emotionally shattered and physically stranded on the desolate planet without transport, and without guidance on how to survive. Alone and grief-stricken, he vowed to find the Sith responsible for his master's death and bring justice to her memory.

The isolation took a toll on Kellan, heavily testing his loyalty to the Jedi Code. He was consumed by grief, and delved into forbidden knowledge within the Sith ruins, seeking any means to enhance his power. As time passed, the lines between light and dark blurred for Kellan, and the need for vengeance overshadowed his commitment to the Jedi way.
Driven by an insatiable desire for retribution and a need to survive on the planets harsh climate, Kellan ultimately succumbed to the lure of the Dark Side, utilizing many dark powers to ensure that he made it to see the next day. For years Kellan would remain on the planet, alone, with no one but the whispers of the Dark Side and his own mind to keep him company, falling further and further into the well of Darkness he now found himself, the light within him diminishing ever smaller. He grew to be a savage and hard man, turning into himself and growing to think that he'd spend the rest of his life stuck on the planet. To that end, he'd carved out something resembling a life for himself among the ruins, living comfortably despite the hate in his heart that he held.

Eventually Kellan would be found, but not by Jedi or explorers, but by more Sith, who'd been drawn in by a flare up of Dark Side energy caused by the ruins. They treated Kellan with distrust and hostility at first, but sensing the Darkness within him, they chose to instead watch him, discern his potential, and then choose what they'd do with him. For a day and a night they watched the young man, and then approached, seeking a conversation. Their talk ended with Kellan choosing to accompany them back to the Sith capital.

On Jutrand, Kellan was taken into the ranks of the Sith, and over the next few months, he'd construct a new lightsaber, and find himself a new Master to teach him the ways of the Sith Lords.
