Velok the Younger
When I Was A Young Warthog
Name: Keleth
Classification: Rural Town
Location: A dusty plain on Ashas Ree, in the Stygian Caldera.
Affiliation: Independent. Influenced by the Sith Order, currently in the person of Velok.
Population: 8,000
Demographics: 67% Human, 13% Rodian, 10% Gran and 10% Klatoonian
Points of Interest: The Seven Claws, a tavern built within an ancient (sideways) Sith meditation chamber.
Description: Keleth is a dusty frontier spaceport, built in and around a fallen, half-buried tower four hundred metres long. The bulk of the settlement fits within the sideways passages and chambers of the tower. Jury-rigged stairs, platforms, scaffolds and ladders make the best of the larger chambers and vertical corridors. Walled landing pads surround the tower.
History: The Battle of Ashas Ree in 3600BBY left numerous locations in ruins. One such was the fortress of Kelethrai, a vast tower. A Jedi strike team planted charges at the tower’s base, toppling it, but the Sith-wrought stonework held firm. In later millennia, everything of value was stripped from the fallen tower. Generations of squatters and vagrants took up residence in the sideways rooms and upended passages. A decent-sized settlement sprang up during the Dark Age, swelled by refugees from the Gulag Virus.
During the rise of the Sith Empire under the modern Triumvirate, then Emperor Moridin, the settlement of Keleth became a notable population centre for the obscure planet. Keleth achieved its zenith under the reigns of Desmius and Voracitos. When the Republic crushed the Sith Empire, however, Keleth saw vastly reduced traffic and trade. Such losses only accelerated during the Second Akala Crisis: for whatever reason, Keleth saw greater than usual losses, and fewer returns from the Netherworld at the crisis' resolution.
By the time that the Sith Order spurred the Silver Jedi out of the Stygian Caldera, Keleth was a ghost town. A resurgence of Sithspawn drove the bulk of the city into the shelter of the ancient, fallen tower.
Intent: A small Sith-affiliated location.
