ADVANCED SYSTEMS
- Shield Leecher Weapon - The Keldabe-class Cruiser is armed with a device that leeches the energy used to create deflector shields generated from enemy starfighters and starships that venture close to it and then uses that energy to bolster its own deflector shields and weapon systems. Due to a lack of canon measurement for the area of influence, this submission will determine that the area influenced by this weapon is a sphere 1,000 meters in diameter from the center of the Keldabe-class Cruiser. It is never said if this device is only capable of operating in space and as such it will be presumed that the device works at full efficiency despite the environment outside of direct/purposeful interference from unnatural sources.
Strengths:
- Mandalorian Made - As is common with Mandalorian creations, the Keldabe-class Cruiser puts an emphasis on high amounts of offensive ability. During its original creation period it was capable of going toe-to-toe with an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, a ship nearly one and a half times its size.
- Shield Leecher - An interesting trait of the Keldabe-class Cruiser is the ability to drain the shields of nearby hostile starfighters and starships known only as a "Shield Leecher Weapon". The energy drained from these starcraft are then used to bolster the Keldabe-class Cruiser's own shield strength and weapon systems.
- Heavy Built - The Keldabe-class Cruiser has traded maneuverability and speed for a large armament and increased durability.
The Keldabe-class Cruiser (also known as the Keldabe-class Battleship) is a Mandal Hypernautics design and was originally produced by MandalMotors and Mandal Hypernautics. However, the design is considered a relic of the past and the knowledge to build the Keldabe-class Cruiser rests with many modern Mandalorian shipwrights. It was named after Mandalore's then-capital, Keldabe (though the capital of modern Mandalore has since changed to Sundari). Like the Mandalorian Crusader-class corvette, the cruiser's design is marked by sharp edges similar to the ancient Mandalorian Kandosii-type dreadnaught. Atop the main superstructure is a tower similar in design to the Galactic Empire's Star Destroyers
This class of cruisers were able to compete with the Galactic Empire's Imperial-class Star Destroyers. Keldabe-class Cruisers are armed with turbolasers, ion cannons, and a group of mass driver weapons. The mass drivers were located in batteries between the two engine systems and at the front of the ship. An interesting trait of the ship's design is that the ship is capable of leeching energy from enemy vessels and shields to power its own weapon systems. For comparison the cruiser was approximately a third more powerful than the Zann Consortium's Aggressor-class Star Destroyer, but this also led each cruiser to be much more expensive - approximately 200,000,000 (two-hundred million) credits per cruiser.
