He knew that she probably would not be coming back to Odessen any time soon. Which is why he came here. It was not easy to stay unseen, but the Shadow was looking for someone who needed something. She needed something and did not realize it yet. Maybe she had thought about it, but not necessarily to the extent he was thinking about. He had to approach carefully, ensuring his presence wouldn't alarm her. Connel knew that understanding her needs required patience and subtlety. He observed her from a distance, waiting for the right moment to reveal himself and offer the help she unknowingly sought.
Of course he could very well just let her know he was around, but where was the fun in that? After all, there was the tail watching him.
