Description: Ashin Varanin invented this alchemical treatment many years ago, during her apprenticeship with the Sylphe Sith Master Sirella Valkner. Irritated and intimidated by Valkner's pheromonal manipulation of herself and her own apprentice, Spencer Jacobs, Ashin used Sith alchemy to modify a microorganism for her purposes. The resulting substance, after a regimen of treatment, permeates the body. It metabolizes pheromones absorbed or inhaled by the user, partially or completely nullifying their emotional effects. Though primarily designed to counter Sylphe, Zeltron, and Falleen pheromones, the treatment can also metabolize other hostile pheromones, such as those emitted by Rhak-Skuri. Rather than experiencing the pheromones' emotional effects, the user feels a warmth in their chest, and overall body temperature can rise with sustained, intense exposure. A weekend on Zeltros or the focused attention of a Falleen might give the user a fever, for example, unless the user happens to be skilled in tapas or tutaminis. However, increasing warmth can serve as a warning indicator that pheromones are in play.
Ke'dem operatives receive this treatment on an as-needed basis. Ashin Varanin/Ajira Cardei has taken a new body twice; each time, she has made sure to renew this treatment. Spencer Jacobs Varanin has been protected by this treatment for many years.
