"Glad to know I won't have to kill you, what about you other guys?" He turned to face the other two in the group and waited, but still was ready to fight if his normal mood was needed.

"As I've said before - the more the merrier!" Thel was not against another person joining the group, but this new character had an aura about him the young padawan had not sensed before. He knew that Equinox was potentially dangerous, still the Jedi did not fear him. Was this lack of fear from bravery or ignorance in the subject matter? Thel thought it better to let this person tag along anyway.

"What bring you around these parts, stranger? And how did you find us?" The tone in which Thel spoke was friendly as he wanted to make it apparent that he wished no violence on this occasion.

As the group spoke and became acquainted with one another, they continued through the caves. The artificial lights placed by the Jedi had become less frequent the further they went until it was almost pitch black. Hopefully someone had a flashlight on their person.

Dil slung his rifle off his back and pointed it down the hall, flicking the flashlight on the barrel. It had helped him hundreds of times find his way around the dark corridors of Coruscant and it would surely help navigate these caves.

"How will you know where the crystals are and how will you get them? Did you bring mining equipment or something?

"I did not find you, the force did, and I follow the force. I am surprised you do not know my story, it seems to be quite popular around the galaxy now, however I can understand why your Master would not tell you, Padawan."

Equinox decided to help the Padawan by creating his own orbs of light that lit the whole cave, you could see everything. They would have been confused because the orbs were black, but the light was white.

"My Father was killed by my Mother when I was 3. I slayed her down in anger with my Father's lightsaber. I later found out that she was brainwashed by an evil Sith Lord. I was filled with revenge to kill him, so I joined the Jedi cause. After years of training I became a Jedi Master and gained every single skill you could learn. I thought I was ready to kill the Sith Lord, but did not know where he was. And therefore I defected from the Jedi and became a Sith. I went through more training, learning everything that the Dark Side could teach me until I was a Sith Lord myself. I found the horrible man that had brainwashed my Mother, I struck him down and finally went on to learn all of the saber fighting techniques. Because I had killed a 'comrade' I was kicked out of the Sith line, they tried to kill me, but I escaped with my growing powers using the force. Eventually I went into hiding and met an old man, my Father's Father. He taught me everything that I could know about the middle of everything. The mix between the Dark and the Light side of the force, the exact middle, he called it the Grey. So now I had learnt everything that the force could teach me, but I used it to hone in on my emotions. Not to help anyone. I'm now an assassin, lusting for blood, that is what all this power has done to me. But in the end of it all, it's the light side that let's me control it that 2% of the time. And that is me now..."

He became angry and saddened, it was obvious even under the mask because the orbs of light became extremely bright, until he calmed down and they returned to normal.

"I'm powerful, and know everything about the force, not one thing is out there that I do not know. I can use it however I like, but whether I want to is a different story. I'm powerful and uncontrollable."

He went silent, waiting for someone to say something.

"Some story man. So if your an assassin, and you're both a Sith and Jedi, who hires you? You seem like you'd be worth a ton."

Dil flicked his flashlight off and slung the rifle back over his shoulder, as Equinox's strange magic orbs, whatever they were, lit the hall sufficiently. The walls glistened under the bright light, and sparkled with a rainbow of colours reflecting off the wall.

"I hire myself, mostly, I don't consider myself a Jedi or a Sith now, maybe I used to be, but no longer. Revenge and lust is what consumes me now."

Equinox placed out his hands and created a force hologram for the group to see. "I'm not quite sure what colour Kyber Crystal you want, the most common here is blue." A blue, rugged crystal appeared in his hands. "That's what it looks like, only larger."

He spread out his arms and the hologram grew, "Like that." and then he closed his hands and the picture dissipated.
"By using my force sight I can sense that there are multiple on the walls ahead, however, I can also sense a lifeform, that could be of harm to us."

Equinox paused, and then stuttered under his breath a little. "It's a Rathtar!"

"I'm pretty sure an assassin who hires themselves is just a murderer." Dil chuckled. He looked deeply into Equinox's force projection of the crystal. Even if he could not use them, he very certainly wanted one, just to keep.

As they continued, Equinox used the force to navigate. When he sensed a life form, Dil had hoped it was another Jedi, even a sith would do. But no, it was a Rathtar. Dil knew the famous legend of the rathtars used in the Trillia massacre, but like most people he'd never seen one. He had heard stories of their vile appearance and brutality. A hunter from Tatooine had once told him the rathtar were like walking sarlaccs. He was scared.

"What the hell is a Rathtar doing down here!? Kark. Maybe it wandered in here for shelter, I did see a recently crashed ship not far from our landing spot. Should we turn back? I'm not in the mood to be eaten, or can your lightsabers kill it?"

Ultimatum had not been afraid; it was not in his nature to fear beings. He took the appearance of what he could only guess was a Sith, or some derivative thereof. The aura he felt off of it was too dark to be a Jedi, or one of the neutral Force users; therefore he likely fell into the darker spectrum of Force practitioners. He had remained silent for quite some time, trying to get a greater understanding of this newer, and apparently more aggressive, element in the equation. The droid was ready to act as needed, reasonably sure that there was no chance of winning a fight against this one. It seemed not to have mattered though, this organic, like many other before, had paid no intention to the droid.

When they had made their way down the tunnels, Ultimatum kept track of their movements, his inbuilt systems would allow for a perfect retracing of his steps in case they become disoriented and lost their bearings. He was not too concerned about the Rathtar, it was a creature to be dealt with. Even the mightiest of beasts could be felled, it was in their nature to have weaknesses. Though, the droid did not want to kill it and so hoped that [member="Equinox"] would prove to be more than a simple killer and have some manner of beast manipulation. That was a field Ultimatum was interested in, to work on the mind of an animal and turn its base instincts towards some greater purpose. The droid doubted that this organic, or any of those present for that matter, had such knowledge. Therefore, it would probably be a fight, something he had hoped to avoid.

[member="Dano Dil"] [member="Thel Antares"]

"A what?" The padawan asked the group. He had never heard of a Rathtar before, but the description from the pilot made them seem like terrifying beasts. Echoes from further in the tunnel made it clear that the beast was approaching. Perhaps the group could hide within one of the smaller subsidiary caverns and wait for the animal to pass?

Meanwhile, there had been a constant itch at the back of Thel's head; it was almost as if something was trying to get his attention, or attempting to guide him in these winding caves. Once this Rathtar had been dealt with, Thel knew he would have to follow this feeling wherever it would take him.

He could here the vile sounds of the rathtar as it approached. Worst of all, he new they were nigh impossible to kill with blasters. He assumed 4 lightsabers would be enough to bring it down. The group stood frozen in place as the beast approached. As soon as Dil saw one of the beasts tentacles wrap around the corner of the hallway, he turned and began to run.

"Ruuuuuunnn!!" He yelled frantically.

"Stop! If we move, it can sense us easier, just be quiet and move slowly to the walls of the cave. I'm going to head towards it, then i'll need you guys to step in if things go even worse."

Equinox stood, he now made the force lights dissipate and he stood in the dark. He took a deep breath and said "Manipulation, isn't an option." as he nodded towards the droid. He grabbed both of the sabers hilt's and turned them on, the white and black sabers extended, one in each hand, the curved hilts fitting his hands perfectly.

"Let's go."

He wasn't sure whether Dano had carried on running, but Equinox sprinted towards the upcoming creature, sabers pointed forwards. Then, with all his might, he force jumped into the air and slowly glided towards the creature. He landed atop the creature and started to strike it with his sabers. The creature started rolling until Equinox fell of behind the creature. He'd need someone to shoot it's back so he could use the force to help him, but without a distraction, the creature would eat him whole before he had a chance...

"You've got to be kidding..." he muttered. Dil was sweating profusely with fear. He'd never seen and alien like this.

With it's back turned to the group, and Equinox on the other side, Dil noticed that the thick flesh of the rathtar didn't wrap around its spherical body, and it's back was covered in large, bulbous sacs. He drew his blaster and leaned against the wall. Dil really wanted to run, but he didn't wan't to leave these guys to die either. He shot one of the sacs and it exploded with green blood. It turned to him, giving Equinox the chance to strike it.

"Jedi! Droid! Now might be the time to start backing up!" he yelled over the screams of the beast.

"And this is why I need these droids produced fast." Muttered Equinox.

"Thank valhalla you didn't run!!" he shouted in a thankful sounding voice. Then, he concentrated. He saw a Kyber rock above the beast, it was glowing blue. He stuck out his hand, snapped the rock from the roof, and shoved it onto the beast, it broke into tiny pieces and more green blood leaked through the brown smoke that had been produced. It was silent for a second, but then they heard it. Another roar.

"It isn't dead yet!!" Equinox screamed, hoping the rest of the group would hear him. Once again he pulled out his lightsabers that glowed in the dark and through the smoke so they rest of the group would know he was still alive, he couldn't see anything, so he waited for the dust to clear...

He knew he could kill the monster, he just needed to see it, because force sight would be too distracting at this point.

As [member="Thel Antares"] asked his question, Ultimatum answered quickly, "Big tentacled creature, very dangerous in tight spaces. A distant relative of the Sarlaac."

Ultimatum wasted no time. With the basic plan of action, as obscure and lacking in information as it was, the droid could begin formulating a continuation. Pulling his lightsaber close, Ultimatum waited until [member="Equinox"] had started his charge. As the organic raced haphazardly towards the enemy's maw, Ultimatum ignited his saber. The silvery blue blade shone brightly in the cold darkness. Ultimatum did not really know if the organic required assistance, or if this was part of his internal plan. Without proper communication the droid was at a loss; however, his programming told him that the organic was in danger. Begrudgingly, Ultimatum would work to fulfill the program's requirement. He hoped that [member="Dano Dil"] was safe, though the mad dash away from the confrontation was probably the smartest move out of the lot. Ultimatum would have perhaps suggested a plan more akin to Thel's hiding and avoidance, as direct attacks were a dodgy business when it came to beasts like this.

Of course, they had several distinct advantages. The Rathtar was a massive being with many tentacles; these appendages would no doubt be points where heat could exude and quickly. Further, the creature was not adapted to the sudden changes in brightness, which might have debilitated its eyesight, or whatever little vision it had. If they could lure it outside into the cold, it would probably become quite sluggish and die within half an hour, assuming it failed to find another safe haven. This being would not last on this world. Ultimatum theorized that one of the native Gorgodon's would probably defeat this creature and it would have food to feast on for days, a rare luxury on this planet.

Even as Ultimatum called upon Upari to begin one of the Force techniques they had learned from their master, the Duro turned and fired on the beast. The Dark Jedi seemed to be handling himself compitantly, though Ultimatum felt sympathy for the beast who was being killed in such a prolonged and painful manner. The injury did not improve the animal's disposition, and it soon turned on the three down the hall. With his calculations complete, Upari drew the Force to himself and put the theory into action. Most Force users, when first learning about the Force and how to use it, were taught simple techniques and abilities such as rudimentary telekinesis, leaping, increasing one's physical capabilities. However, Ultimatum tutor had been far from conventional. She had taught the Shard and droid abilities that were usually reserved for more achieved and well-learned knights. Ultimatum and Upari had been quick to learn and just as swift to prove their ability to use what they had learned.

In this case, a long line of green energy arced from the droid's chest to the creature's outstretched tentacles. If not for the color, it could have been mistaken for the infamous Sith ability, Force lightning. But, Ultimatum was no Sith and this new ability was instead a Jedi technique. Electric Judgement. The power was enough to severely injure, if not outright kill the beast.

Equinox

Agility is key.
Equinox was so thankful that the Droid has used the Electric Judgement because it gave him just enough time to concentrate enough to do possibly the deadliest force skill anyone can learn. He was going to combine a Force Repulse with a Force Lightning, although it would take all of Equinox's energy and he wouldn't be able to use the force for the rest of the day, he needed to do it. For everyone's sake.

He roared with anger, breathing in and out vigorously, then screamed with an extremely loud "aaaaaaarrrrrrrhhhhh". He leaped into the air, white waves of light appearing from all over his body, he carried on his prolonged scream and a large explosion happened in the cave, it was loud and destroyed everything within range.

Finally he dropped to the ground, he wasn't sure whether the beast was dead, it should be, this was one of the most powerful force skills anyone could use, especially combining it with Force Lightning. It was quiet and with all his might, Equinox whispered, "a bit overkill, but I like putting on a show", before blacking out and hitting his head into the ground...

Kark, that was close. Dil didn't move a muscle. It was hard to tell whether the beast was dead or not, but the rock around it that had collapsed certainly made it so that it wouldn't be moving anymore. Dil, working up the confidence, walked forward and shot a tentacle that was on the ground. No reaction. He squeezed through what was left of the passage and knelt down next to [member="Equinox"]. Dil was in no way a healer, so he called for [member="Thel Antares"] and [member="Ultimatum"]. Perhaps they could help the man, who was now unconscious on the icy floor, where he probably wouldn't last for long.

Luckily for Thel it seemed he did not have to become involved with the conflict and the matter had been solved. During the short battle Thel felt the pain and suffering of the beast; it had only been acting on it's primitive instinct and was killed for it. There had to of been a better way to deal with the beast rather than outright killing it. This cave system was like a maze and it would've been easy to lose the beast if they had tried. But what is done is done and Thel could not change the outcome now.

The young padawan would walk over to the unconscious body of Equinox who had done a great to deal to destroy the beast. "He seems to of worn himself out. The dark side is a dangerous weapon, every use of it takes its toll on the body and it seems our friend here has taken all he can for now." Thel inspected Equinox closer, "He doesn't seem to be hurt, but we can't leave him here as the cold ground will cause hypothermia to set in."

Again, something tingled at the back of Thel's head. It urged him to proceed down the left tunnel at a cross section that lay ahead. Now the Rathtar was gone he would follow this feeling, hoping that either the droid or pilot were bring the unconscious body.

Equinox was much too heavy for Dil to carry so he asked the droid for assistance. Together, they carried him down the hallway, lead by Thel, until they reached the end of the path. The hall, which had been getting increasingly tight, opened out into a massive cavern. The ceiling was too high to see in the dark, but Dil could make out the shimmer or crystals, as with the walls, and the floors. The entire room was filled with crystals, some massive and in the open, and some tiny, encased within the ice.

It looked like Thel had led them to the right place.

Equinox was still groaning, showing signs that he was still alive, however he did not wake. He needed someone to force heal him or use alchemy to make a concoction that would heal him, because in this cold he would certainly die if he did not wake.

[member="Dano Dil"][member="Thel Antares"]@Ultimatum

Ultimatum had checked on the body alongside [member="Thel Antares"], coming to a similar conclusion in his mind. The droid was about to begin the healing process when [member="Dano Dil"] prepared to move him. Ultimatum would not have moved an injured person, but then again the wait would give Upari more time to recharge. The Shard had more reserves, but it was always worth regenerating where possible.

Personally, the droid hoped that they could avoid that sort of thing in the future, it was not his most pleasant experience. Further, Ultimatum was willing to assume that they would not come across more of these beasts, the likelihood of more than one being carried, due to their inherent danger, was low. Then there was the fact that if there were more than one, they probably wouldn't have traveled together. Thus, it was more likely they would discover some other creature, most of which could be dealt with relative ease in comparison.

As they came to a momentary stop, Ultimatum called to the padawan, "Would you like to learn something? This guy needs some medical attention, and it might be a good opportunity to practice some Jedi healing techniques." Ultimatum guessed that the padawan had yet to learn that skill, but he could be wrong. It would be nice to know that the Jedi were teaching their students how to heal, the galaxy needed more menders.
