Name: Katarina Marines
Intent: Detail for the Marines stationed aboard my personal ship, the Katarina.
Affiliation: Katarina, Domino

Availability: Unique

Quality: A - Elite

Type: Infantry

Strength: 350

Description: The Katarina's Marines are some of the toughest trained and hardest fighting men and women in the Outer Rim. Generally recruited from frontier militias and planetary defense forces, every one is a veteran of some sort of combat. Domino's training focused on shipboard tactics for assault and defending and included zero-g and atmosphere situations. That's not to say ground operations were ignored, a number of jungle and urban exercises were included with an angle towards asymetrical warfare.

Upon graduation and acceptance into the crew, each Marine recieved a cardio-muscular re-work which drastically increased their physical capabilities along with sub-dermal body armor for added protection in uniform and should they ever be caught without. Furthermore, they're equiped with the best kit Domino could get her hands on or create when nothing else would suffice. like their iconic weapons; the Model-K Vibroknife and LWRC.

Divided into squads of ten.
  • Squad Leader (1) - Generally carries a LWRC-45, a sidearm, a vibroknife, and several grenades (one bacta).
  • Marine (5) - Generally carry a LWRC-45, a sidearm, vibroknife, several grenades (one bacta), and (on a planetary mission) a MPMS-66.
  • Medic (1) - Carries a LWRC-45, vibroknife, a pair of bacta bombs and several bacta grenades, VT Bacta Glove,
  • Marksman (1) - Wield's the Ranger Sniper Rifle, a sidearm, vibroknife, and several grenades. May switch out rifle for Shotgun or LWRC-45 on boarding missions.
  • Engineer (2) - One will carry and operate the squad's Mb-835 LMG on ground missions while the other will carry spare ammunition and the squad's long-range/planetary comm unit. Both carry sidearms, a vibroknife, and demolition charges. On ship actions, they both wield shotguns and breaching charges.

DESCRIPTION
Since the tight confines of shipboard fighting don't lend themselves well to distance or precision shooting, the Marines of the Katarina needed a weapon that traded range for stopping power and penetration. The Light Weight Repeating Carbine therefore boosts the energy of particles contained in each shot at the cost of the bolt loosing cohesion faster than normal. The hungry gun is fed by an over-sized diatium power cell that also holds the gas needed for the number of shots provided, simplifying supply logistics but increasing the cost of each magazine.

The LWRC itself shares several similarities with a submachinegun, small, lightweight, with few protrusions to snag on obstacles, yet it retains its classification for the power of each individual bolt. Its short length and folding stock lend themselves to cramped quarters and its high rate of fire can quickly cut through an ambush or spray down a room of hostiles.

Like the DL-44, a quick pulse warns the user when each pack is running low on energy and a low-power stun setting would knock a typical humanoid out for about ten minutes, repeated use tends to cause muscle cramps and prolonged headaches on those kept under by such methods. The LWRC carries contact pads in its grip that interface with matching pads on the palms of Marine armor and ship-suits that prevent unauthorized use, instead issuing a negative tone when the trigger is pulled.

SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:
  • Stealthy: With the tri-prismatic polymer containing much of the suit's EM field and stopping early detection along with the suit's dark colors and rubber cushioning of the boots, a trooper can make a decent attempt at not being a clanking wall of metal.
  • Range of Protection: Built to protect from a wide variety of environments and hazards that could be found on a ship during boarding action, there's
Weaknesses:
  • Lost Mass: Pieces of Laminanium that are blown off are not available to reform and thus the plates reform thinner than previously.
  • Lost Coating: As the stealth coating is the outermost layer for much of the suit, taking fire burns it off or damages it where struck.
  • Esoteric Weapons: Disruptor weapons work by destroying the base molecular integrity of what they hit, the suit only protects in that it'll act as a sacrifice soaking up some of the depth of the attack. Solar Ionisation Weapons transfer so much thermal and kinetic energy over a sustained period that they can burn through the armor before it has a chance to regenerate.
DESCRIPTION: Having gone through several iterations and revisions based on boarding experiences and ground combat, the Tempest Void Armor bears little resemblance to the ship suit it was originally based from; though the design foundations can still be seen. Ship, station, and space fighting were the primary design concerns with urban conflict being taken into serious consideration. Technologies and design elements were also drawn from Domino's personal battle armor, the Song of Mandalor, though she refused to put the suit itself on the table for reverse-engineering.

Helmet: Made of laminium and well cushioned, the choice of solarium for the visor was made as it's rather strong, rated even above glasteel, and its conductive properties were considered ideal for supporting the built in HUD.
While not contained in the helmet itself, the collar of the armor contains an AFG which activates when an un-helmeted trooper is exposed to a vacuum or air pressure or quality lowers enough to be considered dangerous to give them time to put on their helmet.

BIOS:

Bodyglove: Based almost fully off the Advanced Ship Suit, the bodyglove contains the pressure balancer, thermal underlay, electrical insulation, radiation and chemical/biological protection, environmental heaters/coolers for temperature regulation and much of the bio-metrics the armor and weapons require.

Sharkskin Armor: While mostly covered by the plates, the Sharkskin Armorweave provides a great deal of protection in its own right and is rated highly against energy weapons such as blasters and lightsabers as its able to absorb and distribute tremendous amounts of energy. This suit protects the wearer from the feet to their jawline under the helmet leaving only the palms of their hands and fingers exposed beneath their gloves.

Armor Plates: Protecting the armorweave from damaging kinetic impacts are a series of laminanium strike plates coated in a stealth polymer and backed by an additional thermal gel underlay. These provide the bulk of the armor's 'direct action' protection and are capable of reforming once an attack against them ceases.

Intent: An anti-tank, vehicle, air, & emplacement weapon.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer:
Model: MPMS-66
Affiliation: Katarina Marines
Modularity: None.
Production: Limited
Material: Hybrid plexisteel
Classification: Man-portable missile
Size: Handheld
Length: 63 cm Retracted, 88 cm Extended
Weight: 2.5 kg
Ammunition Type: Missile
Ammunition Capacity: 1
Effective Range: Battlefield
Rate of Fire: Single action
Special Features: Guided or unguided firing.
Strengths: Versitile and easy to use.
Weaknesses: Single shot with a long reload.
Description: The Man Portable Missile System fires a 66 mm missile capable of punching through or severly damaging most armor. The weapon is small and light enough to easilly be carried by a single infantry soldier and is fast to deploy. To arm the unit, the rear cover most be popped open and the firing tube extended, this also removes all safeties. Then the operator simply must depress the firing stud, upon release the weapon fires. If instead it is held down for two seconds, the missile will lock on to the most prominant electro magnetic signature centered in the holographic sight. If no source is preasent, the missile will dumb fire when the stud is released or continue searching for a target.

On extension, the two sights automatically pop up, the rear of which shows a one-way holo projection of the targeting. In lock-on mode the target is highlighted. A dismissal button can be used to cycle through available targets from the best solution down, but there is no faster way to designate a target. For a unguided firing it simply shows a point of impact. Unextended, the tube is waterproof and ion/emp discharges simply render the lock on guidance and holo sight inoperable, the missile is still able to be dumb-fired using the regular sights.

COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Availability: Rare
  • Deployment: Minor
  • Strengths & Weaknesses:
  1. +Highly Professional: Well trained, well coordinated, well disciplined, they'd put some special force units to shame with their skill.
  2. +/-Ruthless: They don't take chances and that sometimes means civilian casualties (especially when it comes to room clearing), but that also means they don't get suckered in and surprised.
  3. +/-Shipboard Experts: They live on a ship, train on a ship, and expect to fight on a ship. This means that most of their tactics revolve around what you'd expect to find on a ship and where they excell the most. Stations, urban settings, and building interiors also benefit from this, but they're lest adept at land and aquatic warfare.

One platoon is always fully geared up and at full readiness inside the ship as first responders to any trouble from either amongst the crew or attackers. This is a rotating duty and takes place even when there's shore leave or other actions taking place. If the Katarina lands troops, this one platoon will stay behind to ensure the ship and crew are defended.
