Kashyyyk Tournament Round 1 (Krass vs Boo)

kashyyyk.jpg
The wind whistling through the trees carried the scent of the forests through the arena, leaves swirling across the floor as the referee paced between the two competitors, glancing down at his clipboard. “Well, now you’re both here we can start. The nurses are here for and bumps and bruises, but I expect you to fight with honour. It’s training only so you shouldn’t end up hurt but we don’t want to take any chances. It’s combat till one of you gives up, or till the time runs out then I’ll pick a winner. If you’re both ready,” she smiled, dropping his hand down in the air, “begin!”

Seriously? All the padawans in the known galaxy, and he gets paired up with Gadget Girl as an opponent?

She wasn't a lightsaber user. Not in the traditional sense anyway. She was more likely to use paddle-beam technology or some other kind of gadget-y technomancer voodoo.

As the rules of the tournament frowning on blinding, maiming, killing, murdering, or otherwise permanently injuring the opponent, Boo was restricted in his ability to use Azi. The absence of the familiar amphistaff would have seem to have defaulted back to using that ridiculous lightsaber that [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] was so stupidly in love with. But it didn't make a whole lot of sense against Krass.

So the Primeval witch-boy had opted to return to his roots as an assassin of the Knights of Ren, making use of gadgets rather than any traditional weapon of the Jedi or the Sith.

Of course, if Krass did show up with a lightsaber, it would likely be something completely crazy.

They didn't make lightsaber chainsaws, did they?

She had no idea what to bring and stood there a small look on her face. She did own a saber it was just.... there in her weapons hilt. Disguised more as an extension of the hilt for the Jǫrmungandr hammer. The dynamic hammer was designed to be infused with the force to make it stronger and she knew how to use it to knock enemies around but also at the forge when she took in the sight of Boo. Kind of small but of the few things she knew about him from records he liked off the wall tactics. She'd have to adapt with her hammer on her shoulder for a moment. Eyes looking over at the blue skinned bluw as she wore the more simple Guardian Robes so that she could move around and looked almost like a traditional jedi. THe golden bands of the Tora'yor Henkan-Ki on her hand encrusted with crystals was also there. For switching tactics and bringing a few tricks out before she bowed. The heavily muscled dwarf of a woman shook out her hair that had the tiny crystal bells in it with the sound of them. "Hello."

She had a... hammer?

Of course she did.

The simple appearance did nothing to put the young Pantoran at ease. On the contrary, he was more anxious now than had Krass shown up with an actual lightsaber chainsaw. What was the deal with the hammer? Cortorsis? Songsteel?

Krass wasn't like him. She was a straight up Jedi. Yet, she seemed to adopt a like-minded approach to viewing everything through an entirely different perspective from most Jedi. For her to show up at a tournament intended for Jedi with a rock on a stick... safe bet nothing about that rock on a stick was what it appeared to be.

It also suggested she was planning to fight from close range. With her greater body mass, that would yield her the advantage. Viewing the situation tactically, the Pantoran tried to calculate the possible moves and counters. "Hello," the boy returned.

A Force Horror wouldn't work on her.

Neither would an illusion conjured by Mind Trick.

Stepping off to the side, the boy casually began walking around to the right. Maintaining the same distance between himself and the heavyset woman. Let her make the first move. He'd figure something out from there.

She was watching him as he started to walk and the boy was different then some.. she was unceretain since he didn't seem to have his normal aphistaff.. so that could be good or bad. She didn't get the hammer off of her belt just yet though touching the hilt of the weapon as she started to pull and draw at the force. She knew how to use it, Sorel had taught her how best to fight and there was always a chance for some nice surprises when you were using it. "Hi. I am Krass padawan of Sorel Crieff." She bowed her head but stood there finaly removing the hammer and focused the force into the crystal of her glove... The golden bands warm and gleaming as she infused the force into the hammer itself and it augmented a little. Discharging the jolt cell. so the hammer had a lightning effect. Her djem so for handling blasters and sabers meant she was not one to move around as she moved the hammer to the side making it look like she was left open but she could swing it around her and make a wall. "Ready when you are."

The Pantoran was a practitioner of the martial art known as Teras Kasi.

It was the style of hand-to-hand combat used by the Praetorian Guard of the First Order. As such, it was instructed to the Ren hopefuls and incorporated into the Imperial Academies. It had a marked preference for one remaining limber, agile. Rather than drawing on the Force, he instead merely kept himself open to it. Freedom of movement was his greatest asset, which was why he had chosen to remain unencumbered with armored robes.

He continued moving as he spoke. "Boo, padawan to Théodred the Hopeless. First of his name," the youngling quipped, with a tongue-in-cheek manner of response back to the woman.

There were also lands and titles associated with Théo's name, but to be honest Boo didn't really pay that much attention to that stuff. Protector of the Iron Empire this. Shield-Bearer of Midvinter that.

Nerf herder was probably in there somewhere.

If it wasn't, then it should have been.

Théodred Heavenshield, Nerf Herder of all Midvinter, and surrounding moons and galaxies. That sounded about right.

She said that she was ready when he was... was she trying to yield the first move to him? An interesting tactic, which seemed to suggest that Krass might be relying on a strong defense.

"Ladies first," the Pantoran obliged. Not because he had the slightest idea what manners were, but because he was interested in testing the theory that Krass might be ill-suited on offensive tactics, so pushing her into offensive maneuvers might well be one way to get the Jedi off her game.

Gonna regret that. She thought hearing him offering to let her go first while she was focusing the force into the hammer and waited a brief moment. Feeling the tension in her muscles... hearing the force coming all around her. SHe knew who theo was and a few others from midvinter... mostly Kiriko he was one fo the more... welcoming of the beings from there talking with people. "Then welcome Boo." THe smirk on her face as the jolt cell discharged again to cascade along the length of her hammer moved with her. Tickling her hand when she used it and squeezed to release a discharge of sonic energy with the swing of her arm towards him. Quick movements to keep her defense up and she wasn't using her movement yet but she had ranged capabilities with the force others didn't and sending intense sonic attacks was just the start.

Boo had lots of regrets.

It kind of came with having been a slave to a Sith Lord. Or a knight errant for the First Order. Or an executioner. Or a spy. Or an officer on board a starcruiser captained by [member="Coren Starchaser"].

But evaluating a known unknown in order to make an accurate threat assessment? Not so much, no.

He could feel the ebb and flow of the Force, the tidal shift in the Light Side indicating that the woman was focusing. So, did the hammer require charging? That was a detail he'd have to continue to monitor. If so, that was a vulnerability.

The electrical discharge crackled, the Pantoran shifting from passive observation to action in the time it took her to extend and articulate her arm. A cold snap permeated the air around the child, as the Dark Side was invoked with the burst of Force Speed that shifted his position further to the right as the burst of sonic energy radiated outward.

The Force-empowered sound waves clipped the boy's left side, spinning him around as his ears began ringing. Transitioning into the Art of Motion, the former dark acolyte landed a few meters back.

He came up firing.

The blaster pistol quickly fired off a series of shots. The first merely a measure against which to refine his aim, with the second and third each more calculated and precise. He wasn't firing for marksmanship as much as he was laying down suppressive fire.

SHe could see him moving and the boy was different she could feel the darkside from him before he was firing a blaster.... faster shots but he wasn't going for victory shots... More it seemed her wanted to keep her from moving while her hammer shifted. The hilt twisting as her free hand had the second piece of her hammer. Her saber shifted itno a reverse grip as the blade came to life with a snap hiss of a gun metal blade that would work on it. The blade catching one fo the shots while the other went into the robes shoulder glancing for a moment. Krass remained there and narowed her eyes before she raised an eyebrow and held both weapons. The sonic shot from the hammer building up and releasing at a distance again when she remained within the djem so stance to defend and make herself turn on her boot. She could turn on her heel quickly to follow him but was using her blade more as a shield in front of her while the other brought the hammer around to strike with its ranged strike.

The Force moved.

Focused.

Waiting.

...so the hammer did require charging.

The appearance of a lightsaber blade indicated that Krass might favor a Shien style, but the blaster bolts were merely deflected away... not back at him.

In any case, he now had a strategy he could action.

As she brought the hammer around to strike, the boy surged forward. Stepping into the movement, he pushed both hands out in front of him as a Force Push sailed out toward the woman. The idea was to try and catch her in mid-strike, so to throw her off balance and neutralized the momentum of the hammer.

She could se and feel him, moving as the padawan focused her mind but her hammer had a few tricks compared to others and she wasn't without her own technical prowess until she was moving her hands. The hammer stopped but it wasn't the force that gave it power it was the technology built into it as she fired off another sonic blast towards boo with a reverberation. Her saber was on her other hand and Krass crouched a little lower as she stood there to take the force push itself.. to buckle down and was looking at him but she stayed in the Djem so stance. Saber and hand coming up as she focused the force into the crystals of the banded metal releasing towards him a force blast.

THe blast was a follow up, the sonic attack of the hammer was meant to get him to dodge and she went with what would hopefully be where he was going a move starfighter pilots used to take out the enemy ships. her hair flying back a little though when she watched him for the next attack. Her species were one thing.. they were made for working forges on a high gravity world... they were beefy and thick muscled... then reinforced with the force as Sorel had taught her. Become an unmovable force that few things could really face her with. She had strength enough that she could carry around and toss her master for training purposes and to be practical.

The hair stood up on his neck.

Bringing both hands back toward him, the youngling's fingers weaved an intricate series of subtle motions as he breathed in. A prayer to the Primeval gods wordlessly passed over his lips, before he exhaled. The ice formed in mid-air, the boy pulling his hands apart as the make-shift shield was shaped and formed.

The ice buckler shattered as the sonic blast struck it, the sonic wavefront stalled but the residual power still enough to knock the wind from him. Rocks flew out from underfoot as the boy slide back on his heels with the impact.

She was gathering the Force again.

Placing one foot behind him, the young Pantoran seemed to take a half-step backward.

Then he rotated forward. The back foot moving out and around, building momentum as the other leg kicked out and around. All the while, the boy's hand made a dipping motion, as though gathering air as he moved. Kicking outward, the child struck out with a Force Blast to meet her own, projected from out of the cupped hands that extended outward as he emerged from out of the Teras Kasi exercise.

She had to admit mentally that is ice shield was good and more then that neither of them seemed to be going against their strengths for now at least. She could and was staying here to make herself into an unmoving force. Boo seemed to be moving around and using his skills at a range to stay away from her hammer and blade. The force blast he gave and sent at her met her own as it started to make a shockwave and she could feel it. She knew if they were at a cloaser range it could send them back from the power. Krass redoubled the focus on the blast to meet his and could feel the energy while she watching him holding her weapons at the ready for an attack. "This is fun."
