OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To DIVERSIFY the Thawne's
  • Role: Daughter, Coratanni Captain
  • Links: SIN
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: 23
  • Force Sensitivity: No
  • Species: Twi'lek
  • Appearance:
Kara is not too far off the mark of what many consider to be a 'typical' Twi'lek. She has somewhat embraced and flipped the image of what many people hold in their mind when they think of her kin. That is to say her clothes generally hold to be more revealing, bright colors and expensive jewelry adorning her figure.

This is a conscious choice she makes, a dual attempt to both draw some into a false sense of security and 'reclaim' some of the dignity of her people.

Of course this is not always the case, and at times Kara will change her clothes depending on the situation. Like the rest of her siblings she is incredibly pragmatic and will often change herself and what she wears in order to better fit in with the situation around her.

What she can't change of course is the bright color of her skin. The orange tone almost sweeps into a Lethan red, and is accented by tight wraps of vine-silk around her Lekku that are almost always present. Along with this Kara herself is decorated with several tattoos. Most of these are traditional Twi'lek signs and symbols, though a few of them are more closely related to the Thawne Family and the Coratanni Cartel.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Kara Thawne
  • Loyalties: SIN, Coratanni Cartel, [member="Natalia Thawne"], [member="Slevin Thawne"]
  • Wealth:
Like Mara, her sister, Kara is one of the few Thawne Children to be a Coratanni Captain. This means she holds far more authority within the Cartel than some of her other siblings. This authority has given her free reign of Ylen, the biggest spice operation controlled by the Cartel. Ylen supplies Kara with a vast amount of wealth, most of which she utilizes to run the city, though some she invests in other areas.
  • Notable Possessions:
-Small Pendant
-Aurodium Necklace
-Vine Silk Clothes
-Phase Knife
-Shock Whip
-A-201 Rancor-X
-Collar Detonator
-Spice Vial
  • Skills:
Given her initial upbringing, Kara is surprisingly gifted in a number of different categories of life.

Though she didn't learn how to read until she was almost fifteen years old, Kara is an extremely effective and intelligent business woman. Though on the surface she hides this inclination, the young Twi'lek is well versed in reading a room and saying just the right thing to get someone to agree with her. She has a natural inclination towards mathematics and is second to only Verin in actually keeping accounts.

These gifts allowed Kara to rise quickly through the Thawne family, and it was evident from early on that her own ambitions were far beyond just becoming another accountant for the Cartel. With her drive clear, Natalia and Slevin taught Kara a variety of skills in manipulation, strategy, and other areas. Whereas many of the Thawne children are specialists, Kara is far more well rounded than her siblings.

Of course, Kara is also a capable combatant.

From an early age she learned to defend herself, her childhood as a slave giving her the drive to learn everything she could about fighting. This has shaped and warped much of her personality and skillset.
  • Personality:
Kara is among the most cruel and sadistic of the Thawne Children.

A product of her early childhood, Kara's personality is best described as dominant, fierce, and uncharitable. She cares very little about the fate of others outside of her immediate family circle, and to her most beings are simply in her way. Her worldview is a narrow one, and all that she truly wants is to see her family and herself succeed.

In order to achieve this success Kara will do most anything. She, unlike some of her siblings, is not above torture and outright murder. The Coratanni Captain will do what she has to in order to see herself and her family succeed. This is of course exacerbated by the fact that Kara enjoys such dealings, and it is often whispered even within the Cartel that she is the most dangerous of all her siblings because of this.

This of course all stems from her childhood as a slave. Suffering abuse of all sorts from birth to the age of fourteen, Kara learned early on that few people will actually ever care about you. Due to this the young Twi'lek is incredibly callous, holding the view that one must earn their place in the galaxy or suffer the worst of fate. She is also incredibly vindictive against slavers, most of whom she captures and leads into the same fate they grant to so many others.

Of course, there is an exception to all of this cruelty. Her history, and perhaps the influence of her mother, has driven a soft spot for children into Kara's heart. She does not believe in the idea of the 'sins of the father', and often the children of those she sends to the Ylen Spice Fields are taken from their parents and granted a much better fate.

COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: Shock Whip
  • Combat Function:
Kara generally attempts to stay out of fights, she is well versed in a variety of combat.

Her history as a slave, and generally someone who spent most of her early life being beaten down drove Kara to learn how to properly defend herself. This ambition was quickly overcome by her need for control and dominance of what was around her, and as she grew older it became apparent that Kara had become quite the ardent fighter.

Though by no means the greatest fighter in the galaxy, Kara could easily be described as 'scrappy'. She is well versed in the use of a blaster pistol and phase knife, using both weapons to quite good effect against most opponents.

Her 'trademark' weapon however is something completely different. The very symbol of most Slavers was something Kara adopted early on; a shockwhip. Over the years she has become an absolutely deadly opponent with the weapon, using it in combination with her knife and blaster to fell foes and take down those who oppose her. The small hilt of her whip always hangs from her hip, sometimes mistaken for a lightsaber.

Of course, most of Kara's fighting is about being close range, and thus she suffers against opponents who tend to stay further away from her.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Perhaps in an almost fated way, Kara's early life was not at all as pleasant as some of her siblings within the Thawne family. While Teslyn, Nikolas, and others grew up in within the family from an early age, Kara did not become a Thawne until she was almost fifteen years old. Instead she spent the vast majority of her life as a slave.

Like many of her species, Kara was taken from her homeworld of Ryloth right around the Fall of the Republic. Slavers took the opportunity of a chaotic galaxy to raid the Twi'lek homeworld, and in said raid Kara's parents were killed, slaughtered along with half of the adults within her village.

The children, including Kara, were taken.

This marked the beginning of her suffering. Though only four years old when she was taken, Kara's suffering began almost instantly. She was passed from owner to owner, abused, tossed around, and generally brought to the edge of sanity. She suffered for year after year, remaining compliant and doing what she needed to do to survive.

As the years passed however her anger grew, and she began to realize that her life had been anything but normal. She saw the rich noble friends of her owners, she saw the injustice, and slowly but surely the anger grew inside of her.

Though the abuse continued, a slow fire was lit within Kara.

It was this fire that eventually earned her freedom, and a place within the Thawne Family.

Though Nikolas and Slevin had never particularly cared about slavery, they also had no qualms against it. Of course, this held an exception, one wrought by Natalia herself; children. Having a soft spot for the most vulnerable of the galaxy Natalia had always abhorred the site of abused and broken young.

This was how Kara was eventually freed.

Her owner at the time, a powerful Hutt who used the young girl as a servant and greeter for his more esteemed visitors sent the young woman to see to Natalia and Slevin's needs. Of course, upon the very sight of her Natalia took to the young woman, and instead of the usual abuse she suffered Kara held a conversation with the matriarch of the Thawne family.

The talk was quick, terse, and within just a few moments the fire within Kara was obvious to Natalia. With little urging or convincing, Natalia slipped the young Twi'lek a knife. A whisper planted a thought in the young girls mind, and the next day Kara murdered her owner.

In full view of the Hutt's court Kara slit the throat of her master, ending the slugs life and causing chaos. Natalia and Slevin of course defended the girl, slaughtering those mercenaries who attempted to kill her until eventually none stood against them. With no one willing to oppose them, the three then walked out of the palace, Kara now a member of the Thawne family.

Though uneducated, insular, older, and in many ways broken, Kara quickly took to the rest of the family. Many of her sisters offered her support, and her brothers made it known that she would always be protected.

From then on Kara quickly grew into her current self, always loyal to her new family.
