Kanan's lightsaber

Does anybody know what Kanan's lightsaber in SW Rebels does? From what the trailer shows it must be unique somehow (he clipped two parts together and the activation sounded twice)

It may not have been revealed yet but there must be something special about it. Whatever it is I love the weapon many times more than even the character!!

Looks like he keeps part of it disassembled to allow for it to be hidden and his being a Jedi not obvious.

That could be true. Up until the time Rebels takes place in he "forsakes" the Jedi and "keeps his lightsaber locked away" according to the awesome Dave Filoni.

I am also curious about the blade activating twice. Does it make his lightsaber more durable? What does that do?
