In this bidding, those won who bid the most, but the quantity of their bid was measured by what they were. How much that which they gave was worth to themselves.
A queen bidding 10.000 Credits on something, and a small smuggler bidding 10.000 Credits would both bid the equal amount of Credits, but while 10k is like nothing to a queen, it's quite a bit to a smuggler, so in relation the smuggler bids more.
In the case of my bidding for the shield, my char gave practically everything she would get from a couple of weeks of hard work away, except for a little bit that she would need to survive and get to the next job. Since we never clarified how much she would get for the job though, I just said 99%.
