SETTING INFORMATION

City Name: Kaer 1

Classification: Metropolis

Location: Kaer

Affiliation: the planet is technically part of the United Siskeen Coalition under the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Kaer 1 is owned and run by the Aegis Corporation under the ownership of Muad Dib .

Population: a static, 1 million.
With tourism, several million, which fluctuates.

Demographics: Often called "The Gem of Siskeen", the influx of tourism causes the demographics to constantly change.
However with the million workers, around 10% are balinka, 20% are Cathar, 25% are togorian, 35% are human, with 10% being near human species.

Wealth: High.
Initially a Tibanna mining facility which is a lucrative business, under the guidance of the Aegis Corporation, the city had become so much more. Mirroring a counterpart, Bespin's Cloud City, Kaer 1 was transformed into a luxury resort on the top 50 levels bringing in a substantial amount of extra income.

Stability: High Stability.
The fact that part of Kaer 1 is designed for frivolous rest and relaxation creates a utopian atmosphere. The worker residential levels, 51-99, are designed to bring comfort and a feeling of home that reduces stress for those that life in the city year round.
Aegis also employs certain measures of security personnel aboard the station to act as law enforcement. And considering the fact that the Kaer Orbital Station is in orbit with a plethora of ships, the criminal element not authorized to act in the station is easily kept in check.

Description: Reminiscent of Cloud City, Kaer 1 appears to be an utopian metropolis suspended in the skies. With a carefree aura that caters to the wealthy tourist's every whim, Kaer 1 beings new meaning to the saying "the Sky is the limit".

POINTS OF INTEREST

Skyhooks:
Above Kaer 1 a dozen skyhooks hovered gently suspended between the city and Kaer Orbital Station in synchronous orbit above the planet. Half of the skyhooks utilized turbolifts to transport guests, workers, and Aegis personnel to and from Kaer 1 and the Station above as a means of cheaper transportation. The other half dozen skyhooks were available for rent or lease at an extravagant price for those who wished to partake of the luxuries on Kaer 1 yet still remain aloof and lofty above mere mortals.
Levels 1-10:
Hotels, condominiums, suites, these levels afforded the greatest view from spectacular heights. Each level contained amenities designed for each establishments specific guests. Only the richest could afford any type of lengthy stay, yet many leased such residences for escape at a staggering amount of credits.
Levels 11-30:
This is where the magic happens. Casinos, five star restaurants, amusement parks, night clubs, bars, game rooms, holo-suites, holo-theaters, grand operas, galaxy renowned theatrical plays, magic shows, circuses, zoos, museums, high class escort services, recreational pharmaceutical therapy .... Whatever credits could buy was on display here.
Levels 31-40:
More affordable occupancies were available here. Still rated as luxurious as most resorts, the amenities were on par with other popular resorts. Local amenities per each establishments were available.
Levels 41-50:
A shadier, but no less expensive, experience was available here. With much the same chances afforded by Levels 11-30, the attractiveness here was the lack of veneer to the more criminal aspects offered above. Drug Dens, red light districts, fences, gladiatorial combat, physical upgrades (illegal in many sectors), all these and more were offered at a price. The aura of danger made these levels were popular for individuals seeking a new experience outside of the normal and mundane. And they never failed to not only meet but exceed expectations.
Levels 51-99:
Much like a traditional city, typical amenities were offered here for the local workers. Homes, schools, restaurants, stores of varying normalcy, parks, recreational complexes, and even several authorized drug trafficking were all in attendance. Aegis worked diligently to ensure that the workers would have as normal of a life experience for their employees.
Levels 100-400:
Used for Tibanna gas collection, refining, and storage. Hold doors for transport ships are located from levels 87-99. The separation, refinement, and storage of TibannaX occurred on levels 247-253.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Built around the same time as the Kaer Orbital Station, Kaer Station was financed by the InterGalactic Banking Clan. Built foremost as a Tibanna gas mining facility, the station was less a city then a massive factory with poor working conditions for the organic and less the optional conditions for droids.

Eventually the strain was abandoned and inevitable brought back into production by a Vigo of the Black Sun Syndicate. As the prominence of that particular crime Syndicate waned the station traded hands seemingly every year as criminals used slavery to run their operations, going as fast as also becoming a prison facility at some point for even cheaper labor.

However when the Confederacy liberated the Siskeen system from terrorists the station was also emptied of slavers and slaves and left abandoned.

When Muad Dib created the Aegis Corporation located in the Siskeen system here turned his eye on the station with intent. Tracking down the last legal owner, a small time crime lord who had resulted in the inner rim, he purchased the deed and began renovations. Looking at the famed Cloud City of Bespin for inspiration he got the mining facility working once more but mirrored the architecture and business avenues afforded by such a large and versatile facility. Thus, Kaer 1 was born.

Over all this looks good. One question for you:

Demographics: Often called "The Gem of Siskeen", the influx of tourism causes the demographics to constantly change.
Totally get this, but can you elaborate on what the demographics of the static workers are? Mostly human? Mostly alien? Any particular species heavily represented?
