DESCRIPTION

This would not be a normal sword, but then again this was not for a normal person. This blade would be wielded by a Mandolorian with a history as storied as his people. Quoron had made swords for the Mand’lor, her Husband, a commission, and her adopted mother. They were his family but this sword would be for a Mandalorian that Quoron considered his brother. When he began the production of the sword he wanted to put all of the forging techniques he had learned to work from miniature technology to detachable parts.

The design process began with a holo-call to Kaine detailing Quoron’s initial idea for the sword and requesting Kaine’s revisions and suggestions. This conversation led to the color changes on the blade and the addition of silicar and Quantum fiber for the hilt. After this Quoron added the expansion of the blade as it telescopes and the modularity of the crossguard clamps so new technology could be added as time goes on. Once all these design changes had been implemented the design was finished and the metals could be gathered.

The materials were much easier to gather this time around than in previous attempts. To secure the silicar a simple call was made to Gray Raxis and the metal was swiftly sent over. Next he would need to gather the Beskar and Mandalorian Steel. Typically this would be a daunting task; however, with a trip to meet with Yasha Mantis and explaining what the material would be used for the metals were swiftly brought to the workshop. While Quoron was out on this trip he acquired the paints and emerald for the cosmetic upgrades for the sword. The Quantum fiber was the most difficult to acquire because the smith had never worked with it before. Quoron went to the various sword masters who had trained him and reached out with the request for the material soon after that he got hold of it. Once he arrived back at his workshop on Mandalore work on the sword could finally begin.

Once he arrived he began to lay out the metals where they would go on the sword. After he had done this he began to make the weave that would serve as the grip on the hilt. Once this was complete the Beskar crossguard boomerang began forging. This did not take as long as other small pieces he had made and was complete that day. The next morning Quoron made the clasps that held the crossguard inplace and then set to work on his most intricate process yet making a blade that would extend while expanding and keep all of the components mechanical and not use wiring or other electronic components. Before he worried about the blade he crafted the hilt and set it aside along with the crossguard and emerald pommel. He decided on using an internal locking mechanism that would secure each of the blade-sections together once the blade was extended. After this was created and tested using a durasteel prototype Quoron set to work on the Beskar blade sections. It took him two weeks to complete the blade sections because he continuously remade sections of the sword he was not proud of. Lastly it was time to assemble the blade and add final touches.

He attached the connecting pieces inside the blade together first and then connected the sections to each other and lastly connected them to the hilt. Once the blade was secure in the hilt he picked up the two halves of the hilt he had set aside before and clamped them together while he added the weave he had made earlier. After he had completed this he inserted the Emerald into the pommel so the blade would carry the heart of its smith when it went into battle. As a last touch he engraved the story of Kaine Australis into one side of the blade so as Kaine continued his legacy he could add to the story. This sword would be forged for his brother in arms and would befit its wielder perfectly.

Strengths:
Boomerang: Micro-sharpened beskar edge on both the sword and the boomerang
Easy to disguise: Because it is modular and extendable the sword could be disguised as other things
Close Quarters: Because the sword extends it can be used to incredible effect
Sharpened Beskar: Given the Beskar edge the sword is extremely sharp

Weaknesses:
Will melt: If used against a lightsaber for an extended time the blade will melt
Deploy time: If the user is rushed they will need to draw and extend the blade
Regular boomerang: the boomerang can be caught
Multiple pieces: Because the sword is built in multiple pieces it is slightly vulnerable at the joints
Unbalanced: Due to Beskar’s heft when the crossguard is detached the blade becomes unwieldy
