K Corporation, or K Corp, is a massive interstellar conglomerate, a megacorporation. It is a “classic” tech company, so it is quite different from other industrial giants. It wasn’t built for generations, it was nowhere half a century ago, in fact it was founded decades ago and became a megacorp in these last mere decades. The company had unparalleled growth, fueled by tech mentality, huge profits and bleeding edge technological inventions, today this formula is called the “K Corp model” in some parts of the galaxy.

K Corp builds electronic devices for all across the stars, ranging from industrial and military to consumer products, from screens to supercomputers, K Corp builds them all. Automation is one of their main service, K Corp can automate pretty large scale of operations with its computers, digital and mechanical solutions. Economically they are neutral and independent, they work and sell for everyone and they bring prosperity for all of their partners. K Corp believes in open markets and free trade, they gladly make deals with everyone, with governments/empires and with private persons too.

The conglomerate has 3 big branches or wings, the technological wing, this is the parent company K Corp, the mining wing, K Mining Conglomerate, and the financial wing, the Bank of K. Each of them are very different sectors, what connects them is the technological edge K Corp provides to its subsidiaries, this way they can stay ahead of the competition.

K Corp can be considered a neutral corporation, it has a good and shining side, a so called white-shirt megacorp, it pays its taxes, brings very good jobs to worlds, provides goods and services for cheap prices, gives the best high-tech digital solutions to its clients, operates according to the local laws, protects the environment, brings innovation etc. The dark side comes from the conglomerate’s size and need for continuous growth, it tends to become very influential and powerful, economically a lot of their partners depend on them, also small corporations often can’t compete with K Corp and go bankrupt, and because they do business with every recognized entity in the galaxy and follow their rules they also help factions others consider as a threat.

K Corp usually has good relations with governments and leaders, and quite an extensive public relations department maintains them. It doesn’t try to hide its presence from the general public, it has many advertisements, catchy K Corp slogans can be heard regularly, also the company puts K logos on all of its products, so they are definitely known.

K Corp has a very top-down power structure, it is a private entity and treats itself that way. At the top are the CEO, CTO and CFO, the leaders of the megacorp. CEO is the ruler and decision maker, many important large-scale decisions are outright made by him. The founder and CEO is Th’edar Kolbert. The second in line, and the most important technological persons is the CTO, his job is to make the right decision in technological matters to ensure K Corp has the technological edge. The CTO position is highly respected within the corporation and considered very powerful. The third part of the trinity is the CFO, K Corp has immense wealth and it is needed to be managed by a true financial expert. The CFO is a former financial minister and master of treasury who trusted by the CEO and CTO. The top-class of the megacorp involves other chief executives, the presidents and vice-presidents and the leaders of the subsidiaries. This class is very exclusive, they are like a big royal family, not related, but know and trust each other like family. Below that level no manager can make political decisions and act as a political figure. It is made sure everyone acts professionally, and concentrates on making a profit. Strong competition and vying for positions is encouraged, but in the business and corporate realms. They are a slick megacorporation not some fractured state with local warlords. Factions and divions in the megacorp are not really tolerated by the leadership. Because of that strict and slick power structure power-hungry and frustrated middle managers often mockingly call the conglomerate Kolbert’s Corporation.

K Corp was born from the ashes of another former technological conglomerate, C Corp. Kolbert started at C Corp and climbed the corporate ladder to the rank of CTO, then one of the subcontractors – responsible for the cyber security of C Corp – launched a coordinated attack, sabotage on C Corp. The incident casted a shadow on C Corp and almost destroyed it. Kolby was used as a scapegoat and fired from the company. Later he wrote a book called “The Last Honest Muun” in which he unveiled the whole truth and exposed the incident to everyone, the attack, the subcontractors, how C Corp blamed the whole ordeal on him, and all the other shady things. The book became a best-seller. The tables quickly turned. C Corp was on the verge of collapse. Using his wealth, connections and good reputation Kolbert founded K Corp. The name is both a reference to the name “Kolbert” and mocking on C Corp. Th’edar using his immense knowledge set the corporation on the path of unparalleled growth and built it from the ground up. They quickly exceeded C Corp and bought the remains of the once great technological giant. Since then K Corp has become much more than anyone has dreamed of.
