Just How We Operate [Tyrius]

Julyet could barely see over the AP-89 Crux-Class Heavy Freighter's length from the cockput, but what she saw encouraged her: [member="Tyrius Marr"] emerging from the dig site. She punched in the code to light the engines and keyed in the command to unseal the boarding ramp. The archaeologist team was in hot pursuit, and seemed a lot less willing to let the Jedi artifacts out of their possession than the Jedi Order group. A few blaster bolts chased Tyrius, but none of the scholars was a good enough shot to make it work, and so Julyet waited for confirmation that Tyrius was aboard before raising the gangplank and throttling the ship's thrusters to take them up.

After programming the ship to take them on a clear path to orbit, Julyet got out of her chair and went down to the entrance of the ship. "Nice escape," she complimented him. "You can really run. Come on up. We can decide where we're going and then I propose sandbox rules. I'll show you mine if you show me yours." She hefted the bag of relics off her shoulder and then nodded towards the stairs.

"This way."

Now that he was on the ship-- and, for now, the danger had passed - Tyrius let out a sigh of relief. He was now a fugitive from the Jedi Order, and had essentially snagged a treasure from right under their noses. It hadn't been easy, but he'd done it, with Jules' help.

That was a very loaded sentence. Tyr just grinned. "That depends. What would you like to see?" he asked, not even bothering to conceal the fact that he had a very different answer in mind. However, the... well, ex-Jedi now, really, put down his relics for her to see at the place she'd asked for. He wasn't about to not share the loot with the cute girl that was actually willing to, you know, defy her father, sacrifice her job and family, and even drag him along for it.

The ship was in motion, and so was Tyrius. "So. You and me, stuck on this ship. I can name a few things we should do, a few places we should see. We've got a whole galaxy of relics out there waiting for us."

A pause. "And a lot of time to kill."

"The relics. Obviously," Julyet replied coolly, a hint of pink rising in her cheeks. They went to the bridge, where a command center-type structure was set up against the back wall. "Doctor Thackeray has a long list of potential sites to visit," Jules said, activating the map. Several systems glowed green. "I don't think we'll run out of places to go anytime soon," she told him. "But we should figure out what we're doing with these relics first."

Julyet stripped off her snow jacket, revealing a thermal long-sleeve shirt underneath, then dropped the jacket over the back of the pilot's chair. "And not to rush you or anything, but I'm sure the Jedi and/or my father's team will be alerting the authorities, so I'd like to plot a hyperspace course sooner than later if it's all the same to you."

Conversely, Tyrius shucked off his outer robes, leaving the tunic underneath; it wasn't standard Jedi issue, but it was enough to keep him warm on the cold ice of Rhen Var. At this point, though, he just wanted to get out of ther and on to something new. That place was just going to forever remind him of the fact he wasn't a Jedi any more. Now that was a fun thought.

"No, let's go. I'm done here. Screw this place."

Tyrius took a seat in the pilot's chair, already trained as a pilot and mechanic; this was natural to him. Out of everything he could have been before being a Jedi, a ship's captain was high on that list. As it turned out, now was a good time to make use of that talent. He took the helm, taking the ship quickly out of the orbit of Rhen Var, then looked over his shoulder.

"Got a destination in mind, Jules?"

"Better start someplace neutral to lay low and figure out a game plan," said Jules, folding her arms around her midsection as she studied the map. After a moment, she pointed at a figure on the galactic map. "Nar Shaddaa - the Vertical City. Big enough where we can blend in, seedy enough where we wouldn't be recognized." She paused and then added: "At least I wouldn't be recognized. You -- well it could come down on either side of the credit chit there."

She took a seat in the co-pilot's station and began to bring up the navicomputer.

"What do you think? Do you have any better ideas?" She glanced sidelong at [member="Tyrius Marr"] and raised a challenging eyebrow.

"Oh, whatever. Nobody ever knows me, so if I leave the glowbat on the ship, I should be able to blend in plenty. Besides, I'm barely even dressed like a Jedi," Tyr said dismissively, waving a hand away at the fact he probably could pull it off reasonably well.

"Besides, I've never been to Nar Shaddaa. Could be fun, right?"

He flashed [member="Julyet Thackeray"] a grin, because at this point he didn't have much else to go for. Letting her put it into the navcomp, he punched it the second they escaped the gravity well of Rhen Var - and moments later, they were hyperspace bound, the stars drawing into pinpricks as they flashed past.

He leaned back into his chair, breathing out.

"Well, that was fun."

Julyet finally let out a relieved sigh as well, then leaned back in the ship's co-pilot seat. "Fun?" she echoed quietly, shutting her eyes. "I've burned some bridges in my time -- all girls have a certain rebellious streak, but my stars." She shook her head and rubbed her forehead lightly. "It may have been unbelievably stupid. But it's done now. Besides, I'm his only child, so if he ever wants grandchildren he'll have to forgive me at some point." She hesitated. "At least, not kill me the moment he sees me next."

A moment later Jules was up and around, animatedly plotting a list on her fingers as she paced the bridge. "First thing we'll need a new transponder. I can hack this one to keep us off the grid, but not well enough to stand up to any serious scrutiny. But that's going to cost us some serious credits, so we'll have to sell something. What that will be we'll have to figure out once we've deciphered the relics. Between us I'm sure we can come up with a reasonable asking price for the ones we're willing to part wit, and determine which we can't possibly let go yet."

She turned, continuing her pacing and listing: "Then we'll want to paint the ship. That won't be cheap either, if we want it to look believable. Fresh paint would be a dead giveaway, but we'll need to cover up the university's logo. I'm sure we can find a place to paint it who can then make it looked lived in."

Straight back to work. Oh well. Tyr wasn't about to get off that easy, all things considered. They'd both made some huge sacrifices to get to where they were now - was a few minutes to blow off some steam too much to ask?

"Right then. I'll help with the transponder. I'm a half-decent mechanic so I can probably put myself to work there too," Tyrius said. "Then I guess we can sell some of these weapons. I mean, we only need one to study. The rest have information... that I will very much comb carefully. Later."

A moment later his lightsaber fell to the floor, slouching over the back of his seat totally carefree. "Honestly, a hot shower and a decent meal would be good right now. Then we can get to business. It's gonna be a couple days to Nar Shaddaa anyway. Don't you feel the same way?"

"No, I agree," she said. "But we'll have time to shower and eat when we've got the transponder all set."

She led him over to the panel and heaved herself up to sit on the counter next to him, her legs dangling as he worked. "I sort of... I just sort of want to stay busy. If I stop to think about anything that just happened then I might just... lose it, or something." She ran a hand through her hair and let it fall in loose waves down her shoulders. Her eyes suddenly shone glassy with unshed tears. "Like I'm about to right now." She leapt off the counter and began to pace.

"Nevermind, nevermind," she said anxiously. Jules walked back over to him and put a hand on his shoulder as he worked. She prattled about nonsense as he worked and then finally, when they were done, she said, "Come on, I'll show you to a room. There's a full 'fresher in there and you should be able to find some clothes that fit in there." Jules opened the door and showed him around. "I'm going to take a shower myself. I could do with getting out of this cold-weather gear. Meet back in the cockpit in half an hour?"
