Duel Just Business (Kera)

Tag: Kera

Location: Just outside Fort Ypso, Vandor

Zengel Felgreen carefully watched the small frontier town through the lens of his KiSteer Projectile Rifle from his perch on a nearby mountain. The town had certainly grown in size since the days of the Empire, but it still had quite a bit of growing to do before it could be called a city. What hadn’t changed since then was the fact that Vandor was as cold as a tauntaun meat locker. In fact, Felgreen was starting to wonder if he should have tried to set up this ambush somewhere else. It was too late for that now though.

Felgreen was waiting for a smuggler by the name of Jesk'eraizu'eatthor (Kera for short) to land his ship in this force-forsaken icebox of a planet. Once he arrived, Felgreen’s assignment was to assassinate him, and his suppliers/customers. Of course, his benefactor had not permitted him to kill them until Kera actually picked up/dropped off the illicit cargo. This annoyed him slightly, but he understood why. The morality of what he was doing was already questionable enough.

After what seemed like days of waiting, Felgreen saw a ship matching the description of Kera’s land in the town’s spacecraft landing area. When the ship landed, he watched Kera exit the ship, and walk into the town. It seemed Felgreen would have his chance very soon.

What a pain in the ass. Kera had taken this job for the credits, but he definitely had better things to do.
The job was simple enough. He was paid to take the ship to a spaceport on Vandor, leave while it was loaded up, and return to fly a fully loaded ship back across the Galaxy. He was never to meet the people loading the ship he was flying. Something about it being a security risk. Kera was just a wheelman. The Chiss looked at his chronometer. He had about an hour to kill, so decided he might as well spend it having fun.

Kera made his way to the nearest bar and ordered himself an ale to pass the time.

As Felgreen watched, Kera walked into a dimly lit, nearby bar, presumably to avoid the freezing cold. Of course, now that Felgreen knew that Kera was here, and where in the town he was, there was no reason for him to stay on this mountain. Felgreen imagined that Kera would probably be staying in the bar for a while, so he felt no particular need to rush down the mountain, and risk getting injured.

Once Felgreen had descended the mountain, he took a moment to brush the snow off of his trench coat. He then found a suitable crevice in the rocky surface of the mountain to store his rifle in. He wouldn’t be needing that in the bar. Then, he quietly slipped into the bar he had seen Kera walk into. He looked around. The bar was filled to the brim with customers, who ranged from “sober” to “out on the floor”. Felgreen took a seat at one of the small tables near a window.

Felgreen looked around the bar, until he noticed Kera. He wouldn’t kill him here, obviously, but this would be a good opportunity to study his target before he did the deed. Not too far away from where he was sitting, a pair of drunken Humans began raising their voices at each other. Felgreen lowered his fedora slightly over his already obscured face, and sat back. He was interested to see if Kera would react to this.
