The main entrance to the Royal Academy resembled that of a grand hall with large doors leading to a maze of chambers. At the end of the hall was a gigantic stone staircase leading to the upper floors of the academy.The interior of the entrance was one of rubble. Many of the once grand pillars detailing the heroics of The One Sith had collapsed causing sections of the roof to cave in. A balcony stood to the left of the entrance, but the one to the Right had been destroyed.
Sargent Harco and his platoon had barely survived the first attack. The Royal Academy defenses were crumbling beneath the enemies relentless bombings, and so they were forced to retreat into the academy. Harco was damned if he let any more of his soldiers die. The lieutenant had died in the initial assault and he had died again when he rose as a monster. Harco killed the poor sod with his own blade. Harco's Platoon had set up an ambush positions in the front of the academy, the company commander had put other platoons in key locations and choke points, but Harco's boys were at the front. They hunkered down for the next enemy wave and hoped help arrived soon. "Your orders sir?" asked a raw faced recruit.
Harco stared at him for a moment, he was merely a boy. He shook his head then began barking orders, this was no time for grievances he had a battle to fight.
"I want a squad of grenade launchers to get on that balcony! Another squad to mount a repeating blaster at the end of the hall, tell them to take are best marksman as well!"
That still left 4 squads not including his. "Have the rest of the squads take cover near entrances to the inner chambers with orders to retreat after 5 minutes. After which they are to rally with other forces. We will not give the enemy more corpses to fuel there machine..." Harco scowled, disgusted by the though of being eaten by his own men.
"What about you sir?"
"My squad and I will be in the front. Now Get to positions!" Harco shouted. If all went as planned they would hold the enemy till help arrived if not they would at least exact a bloody tole on the enemy. Harco thought about his Captains plan. It sounded reasonable enough. Ambush, retreat, Ambush, Retreat, until the company finally met in the inner library of the Academy. Harco and his 4 fellow Red Guard took cover behind a fallen pillar near the entrance. He readied his fathers vibroblade and steeled himself for the slaughter to come.
