Jukebox in my Mind.

Sitting in the corner of the bar in the filthy, scum-filled cantina was former detective Van Rolark. The jukebox in the corner playing music quickly skipped every ten minutes. Staring at the holovision in the corner, Van Rolark exhaled the thick cigarette smoke produced from the black cigarette wrapper.

Holding the cigarette inbetween his index and middle finger, he took a quick swig from the bottle of gin in his left hand as he slowly tossed the empty, crushed cigarette wrapper into the trash can behind the bar. What was a successful career of law enforcement had turned into this.

He contemplated on what he'd do, but he'd been contemplating for a year. With a depressed sigh, he placed the cigarette back up to his mouth, inhaling the cigarette smoke as he slowly slumped down further in his bar stool.

Kay had been spending more time in these places than she would've liked. But there was a reason for everything, even if that reason wasn't so readily available.

It wasn't too often that she had come across a smoker, but there he was, creating a cloud around himself. Could that be why people seemed to give him a bit of space? Who knew? But she approached the bar beside him and asked the bartender for a virgin drink, fruity in flavour. She looked to the smoker and bowed her head to him as she waited for her drink to arrive. "Evening."

Slowly, he removed the cigarette from his mouth for a moment, holding the burning tobacco product inbetween his fingers. With a passive expression, he examined the woman. With a silent nod, he slowly turned back toward the wall, exhaling more of the thick smoke before tapping the end of the cigarette, crushing it out in the nearby ash tray.

"...Yeah? Whaddya need?" He asked, taking a quick swig from the bottle of gin off to his left, a drink he had become accustomed to. "The name is Detective...N-no. Former Detective Rolark. How ya' doin'?" He asked, his gaze falling upon the bottle once again, with a sigh, he took the bottle in his hand, gripping onto the neck tightly before raising it to his mouth, taking a quick swallow.

Drowning out his sorrows in the bottle. How typical. Especially when he spoke of his former occupation. "A detective? Pleasure to meet you, sir. I am well, thank you. And it wouldn't take much to note that you don't seem to be having a very good day."

Kay took her drink and had a sip. It wasn't quite her tea, but she could use something different every now and then.

Nodding slowly, he quickly took another swig from the bottle, wiping his mouth on his coat sleeve. "Good observation. I ain't had a good day since I was permanetly fired from the detective agency for blastin' some Trandoshan feth in the face." With a sigh, he set the bottle back down on the bar, shuffling through his wallet.

Quickly, he tossed a credit over to [member="Lady Kay"], nodding slightly. "Do me a favor and get me a pack of Spacer Lights from the cigarette machine over there." He said, gesturing towards the cigarette machine in the back of the bar,

"Was there any good reason that you shot the Trandoshan in the face?" Not all of them were bad, were they?

And then he tossed her a credit. What did she look like? A waitress? Kay tossed it back to him. "You can get your own death sticks, thanks. Just think of it as exercise." She smirked at him.
