Strengths:
  • I Said Hotshot - A voice-activated module within the gun changes the caseless ammunition as required. "High-Ex" for high-explosive, "Stun" for stun, and so forth.
  • Primary Weapon - DNA verification in the handle prevents someone else from using the weapon against the owner. If someone other than the owner handles the gun, the gun is silently armed, and if that someone pulls the trigger, the gun will explode in their hand.
  • Last Words - Only usable with the standard FMJ rounds, the silencer turns the already relatively quiet subsonic ammunition into whisper-silent rounds. While not completely noiseless, in any urban setting this will be almost invisible.
  • Negotiation Is Over - The stopping power of the caseless rounds is nothing short of impressive. Not only does each round fire with sniper-round stopping force, each round has its own special ability. Stun rounds drop most humanoids unconscious for a few hours, high-explosive rounds completely shatter anything short of Low durability, armor-piercing rounds punch through anything short of Average durability, and incendiary rounds are just plain scary against organics.
  • Seconds To Comply - When set at full-auto (applicable to FMJ rounds only), the gun will empty the entire magazine in less than a second. That's 15 hollowpoint slugs spewing out of the gun at 1200 RPM.
Weaknesses:
  • Breaking A Sweat - The caseless ammunition is a lot less prolific than the FMJ, not to mention is contained in a larger magazine. It can be very easy to lose track of how quickly one works through the ammo.
  • And He Says Wait - Full-auto creates an incredible amount of recoil - not only is it a terrible way to conserve ammo, it is very inaccurate.
  • Backup - With a relatively small effective range (due to a short barrel and a low-powered round), this gun is almost worthless in an open, battlefield environment. If longer ranges are required, some other gun will have to be used.
  • Defense Noted - With minimal protection other than a plastoid shell, the voice-activation is susceptible to EMP attacks and electrical discharges. Without it, firing rates cannot be changed, and special ammunition cannot be used.
DESCRIPTION
The JSA-VAR is Jak Sandrow's 'indoor voice'. Deeming the MAG5 too impractical for short ranges and indoor usage, the VAR was created to perform a multitude of tasks that may be required in a practical setting. From stunning opponents to making a brand new door in a wall, variable rounds for specialist activities and standard rounds for practical usage make up the repertoire of ammunition available to the operator.

A DNA verification allows the operator to have peace of mind when someone is pointing said gun at him. Without proper verification, the gun will detonate in the other person's hand, the explosion radiating away from the muzzle and back toward the would-be operator. Usually this will obliterate the hand, but will sometimes take the rest of the arm as well.

With voice activation utilized for most of the variable weaponry, it is advisable to keep away from most things electrical and wet. If voice action is disabled (such as when the silencer is activated), the gun will automatically revert to standard, semi-auto firing. The gun will also not fire special ammunition in this mode.

Utilizing .45" subsonic slugs, each slug has fairly noticeable stopping power on light armored or unarmored targets, and the supersonic caseless slugs provide their own unique forms of stopping power.

Overall, the JSA-VAR is a very versatile close-quarters combat weapon, and will be used frequently.
