---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :

  • [+] Empathy: Josef has superb empathetic abilities. He is able to relate to people on an emotional level much easier than many others.
  • [+] Determination: Josef does not, and will not, give up. The man will do what he has to do to get a job done. He will work either until a job is complete or a task has been mastered.

  • [-] Reassurance: Josef needs consistent reassurance that what he is doing is good. The man has trouble reassuring himself that he is doing a good job and needs consistent validation from another source. This is why he holds his work reviews in such high regard.
  • [-] Stubborn: Josef is known to be set in his ways. This can lead to a conflict if someone wants Josef to do a complete 180 without explaining, in great detail, why he needs to do it.
  • [-] Fear of Failure: Josef hates failing. This ties into his need for consistent reassurance. If Josef fails, he can often make it out to be a bigger deal than it actually is. Key examples would be a delayed response time when in the field. Even if something was out of his control completely that results in a negative outcome, Josef will blame himself.
  • [-] Touchy: Though Josef doesn’t necessarily hide his emotions nor aspects of his culture, he will come off as a bit touchy or moody if he believes what he is being ask is disrespectful. The man will always show the utmost respect for people but even this ‘pacifist’ has the occasional barb.

PERSONALITY:
Josef lives in a world that is concrete and kind. He is truly warm and kind-hearted, and wants to believe in the best of people. He values harmony and cooperation, and is very sensitive to other peoples feelings. People tend to value Josef for his consideration and awareness, and his ability to bring out the best in others by his firm desire to believe the best.

Josef has a rich inner world that is not usually obvious to observers. He constantly take’s in information about people and situations that is personally important to him, and stores it away. This tremendous store of information is usually startlingly accurate, because Josef has an exceptional memory about things that are important to his value system. It would not be uncommon for Josef to remember a particular facial expression or conversation in precise detail years after the event occurred (so long as the situation made an impression on Josef).

Josef has a very clear idea of the way things should be, which he strives to attain. He value’s security and kindness, and respects traditions and laws. He tends to believe that existing systems are there because they work. Therefore, he is not likely to buy into doing things in a new way, unless he is shown in a concrete way why it’s better than the established method.

Josef learns best by doing, rather than by reading about something in a book, or applying theory. For this reason, he is not likely to be found in fields which require a lot of conceptual analysis or theory. He value’s practical application. Josef learns a task best by being shown its practical application. Once the task is learned, and its practical importance is understood, then and only then will Josef faithfully and tirelessly carry through the task to completion. In essence Josef is entirely dependable.

Josef has an extremely well-developed sense of space, function, and aesthetic appeal. For that reason, his living space is usually very well decorated and cared for. In many aspects this is often misinterpreted as a sign of obsessive compulsive disorder (the thought that everything has its specific place). Josefs sensitivity to other's feelings and desires, makes him a great gift-giver - finding the right gift which will be truly appreciated by the recipient.

More so than other types, Josef is extremely aware of his own internal feelings, as well as other people's feelings. He does not usually express his own feelings, keeping things inside. If they are negative feelings, they may build up inside Josef until they turn into firm judgments against individuals which are difficult to unseed, once set. Josef needs help learning how to release and handle such feelings. Just as Josef is not likely to express his feelings, he is also not likely to let on that he knows how others are feeling. However, he will speak up when he feels another individual really needs help, and in such cases he can truly help others become aware of their own feelings.

Josef has a strong sense of responsibility and duty. He takes his responsibilities very seriously, and can be counted on to follow through. For this reason, people naturally tend to rely on him. Josef has a difficult time saying "no" when asked to do something, and may become over-burdened. In such cases, Josef does not usually express his difficulties to others, because they intensely dislike conflict, and because he tends to place other people's needs over his own. Josef needs to learn to identify, value, and express his own needs, if he wishes to avoid becoming over-worked and taken for granted.

Josef needs positive feedback from others. In the absence of positive feedback, or in the face of criticism, Josef gets discouraged, and may even become depressed. When down on himself or under great stress, Josef begins to imagine all of the things that might go critically wrong in his life. He has strong feelings of inadequacy, and can become convinced that "everything is all wrong", or "I can't do anything right".

Overall Josef is warm, generous, and dependable. He holds family heirlooms in high regards (such as the non-working lightsaber, the family tree, and his religious texts). He has many special gifts to offer, in his sensitivity to others, and his strong ability to keep things running smoothly. He needs to remember to not be overly critical of himself, and to give himself some of the warmth and love which he freely dispense to others.

APPEARANCE:
Josef stands at an imposing six feet three inches in height. Broad shouldered and muscular, the man is easily the largest male that his family has seen in many generations (many who don’t even pass five feet eight inches). The most notable feature isn’t his size however, it is his eyes. Often referred to as a hawks gaze, the almond oculars seem to pierce into the soul of anyone they fall upon. His face is always with a neatly trimmed beard. When not wearing his head scarf, Josefs black locks are incredibly fine but overall thick. There is no risk of male pattern baldness. Josef has a couple of minor scars obtained throughout his life from the occasional scrape, scratch, and cut but nothing that is severely disfiguring.

BIOGRAPHY:
Josef graduated with honors from Garang High School. He was renowned for his quick thinking and outward social skills though the man drew more attention based on his religious upbringing, especially on a technologically advanced planet that seemed void of such ideologies. This did not mean Josef experienced discrimination of any kind. The man, known for being one of the kindest students to any and all, was treated the same. After high school, Josef was accepted into the Dantooine Medical Academy.

Josef spent his first year without a specialization. He became known as the ‘swiss army knife’ to fellow students and staff as the man seemed to bounce from one field and to the next. One semester he delved into the potential of cardiology, the next he focused on mental health, then pediatrics. Nothing seemed to call to him. That was until he got experience working with a group of Paramedics. On a mandatory field training exercise to give students real life experience dealing with trauma and seeing how its handled before patients reach a hospital, Josef watched in amazement on each of his outward trips as Paramedics tended to the sick and injured but also treated patients with respect and dignity. It wasn't long until Josef fell in love with the idea of saving lives before someone made it to the hospital.

Finally deciding that he simply wanted to be a Paramedic, Josef entered into the Emergency Medical Technician Certificate program. Like in High School the man excelled. Using his natural empathetic abilities, Josef went above and beyond to try and keep patients calm and collected while working to save their life. This caught the eye of superiors. When Josef graduated as an Emergency Medical Technician, the man was immediately accepted in an accelerated Paramedic Program.

Over the course of his career, Josef has set workplace records in response time, trauma saves (actions taken that prevented death on route to hospitals), amount of calls responded too, and hours worked. Ibn-Abad became known as the workhorse of the Garang Medical Response Unit. As the years passed, Josef has developed a sense of wanting to do more. Not wanting to just help the sick and injured of Dantooine, Josef yearns for the chance to travel the stars, go world to world, and help those whom cannot help themselves.

HOME:
Josef lives on a lower middle-class income and as a result does not live in a fancy house. He lives in a small one bedroom one bath apartment in a suburb of Garang. The man struggles to pay bills. At times he struggles to ensure he has food. Paramedics may not be the lowest paid profession but it is far from the best. However though he may have financial difficulties, it doesn’t diminish his outlook on life. If anything it just reaffirms it. Josef would rather have struggled and led a fulfilling life than to have it easy and not do anything.
