RANK: Ruling Lord

SPECIES: Human

AGE: 34

SEX: Male

HEIGHT: 5'7

WEIGHT: 145 Lbs

EYES: Blue

HAIR: Black

Strengths:

  • Duelist: As the firstborn son of House Kirionaka, Jiro received extensive hours of training every day in combat drills with veteran soldiers and instructors brought to the Kirionaka estates, forging the youth into the future battlefield commander that was expected of him to be.
  • Politician: Jiro was raised in the fast-changing and cutthroat Great Game of the Council, and was taught by his family and close advisors the subtlety needed for all Tsurani nobility to survive in their society.
Weaknesses:
  • Strength: Jiro, despite years of training and practice, follows in the genetic legacy of the Kirionaka. He is slight of build and best suited for agility and speed over brute strength. In combat, he must rely on these traits and avoid any tests of strength.
  • Cold: Like most Tsurannuani, Jiro has grown accustomed to the above-average heat of Kelewan, and his body adapts poorly to climates that are cold or with sudden changes of weather.

BIOGRAPHY:
Jiro was born during one of the rare thunderstorms on Kelewan, an ominous omen among the highly superstitious Tsurani people. For much of the first few weeks of his life, it appeared the Gods would have their way with the infant, as Jiro passed several times before the doors of Turakamu before finally beginning to grow stronger, surviving an illness many had already assumed would kill the young heir to the House. In deference to the Gods, Lord and Lady Kirionaka named their child Jiro, the name of one of the greatest priests in the Empire of Tsurannuani.

As he grew older, Jiro came to learn the gravity of the situation he and his family were in. House Kirionaka were one of the five Great Houses of the Empire, and as such held a position of preeminence in public life. As one of the five Houses most likely to give birth to a future Warlord, many other minor Houses sought favor from the Kirionaka, though others also sought their downfall. One such House was House Irilanda, a House that held power only barely below that of the five Great Houses. The blood feud between the Kirionaka and Irilanda traced back for nearly five hundred years, with one House holding an advantage over the other at various times. During his youth, the Kirionaka were in ascendance, though spies were always watching the Irilanda carefully.

Not long after his fifteenth birthday, the Kirionaka were called upon by the Warlord to muster several companies of soldiers to take part in a defensive action against alien barbarians in a nearby system. Despite word from their spy network that the Irilanda had been using their wealth to bribe enough Houses in the Council to ensure it was the Kirionaka chosen to defend the Empire's interests, the Kirionaka could not refuse the order or risk shaming themselves and losing honor. Jiro could only watch as his father mustered a vast majority of their Houses military strength and boarded the waiting transports to ferry them to the frontlines of the newest conflict.

It was three years later that the estate received word that the Kirionaka forces had suffered devastating casualties in battle, and that Jiro's father had been killed. The Kirionaka forces had been engaged with a barbarian force on a forest world, fighting in a hit and run campaign for several months when they had finally managed to pin down the enemy force. Another House was ordered to secure the flank of the Kirionaka force while they charged forward to eliminate the last of their foe. When battle was met, however, the other House was nowhere to be seen. The Kirionaka forces, lacking the expected support on their flank, were quickly surrounded and forced into a grinding bloody battle for survival. Only the arrival of the Warlord's personal forces saw the last Kirionaka forces survive the trap. The House that had not taken to the field, a vassal of the Irilanda, reported that they had been delayed due to the fear the barbarians had managed to sneak of the second force around the main Tsurani army. The lie was apparent for all to see, but little could be done to change the fate of those who lay dead on the field.

Jiro buried the ashes of his father brought back from the field in the Houses Natami Garden, the location in which the spirits of the dead Kirionaka family resided. Barely an adult by the standards of the Empire, Jiro was forced to enter the Great Game of the Council against his family's bitter rival, who now stood in unquestioned strength. Knowing open battle was not an option, Jiro was forced to fight using political and economic means. The next decade of his life would be spent harassing Irilanda trade caravans, cornering the market in trade goods, and securing a marriage with a House nominally supportive of the Irilanda, but changed their loyalty to the Kirionaka, bringing with them strong ties to markets on the far side of the Empire. During this time, Jiro also began a rapid expansion of his Houses depleted military strength, eventually drawing near to the former Kirionaka strength. On the eve of his eleventh year as the ruling lord of his House, and preparing to celebrate the birth of his first child, a setback was thrown against him.

An assassin from the Haomi Tong, the recognized guild of assassins within the Empire of Tsurannuani launched an attempt on Jiro's life, the agents sent having been paid a death price. With no hope of return from the mission, the assassins took their time to plan and prepare the perfect moment to strike, just as Jiro's wife gave birth to his son. Striking fast, the assassins struck at both Jiro and his wife, intent to eliminate the entirety of the Kirionaka line and end the House once and for all. Jiro was wounded in the attack, though he was able to kill his attackers. His wife and newborn son were not as fortunate.

Not long after his family's funeral, Jiro sent word to the priests of Turakamu and swore to their god a blood vow of vengeance. Jiro pledged the honor of the Kirionaka to the fate of the god in exchange for his favor in seeking revenge against the Irilanda. The priests returned word that the vow was accepted and that Jiro now had one year and a day to destroy the Irilanda, or House Kirionaka would be forced to be destroyed by Jiro's own hand, or risk the eternal damnation of his families honor, and cost them any hope of rebirth in future Cycles. The war that followed was brief and brutal in its intensity, with thousands of warriors thrown against one another in a series of vicious clashes as the two House fought to survive. Both knew that whoever emerged the victor would have to turn around and stave off the assault of other Houses eager to capitalize on the weakened state of the victor, but for now, only one thing mattered to either House.

Three days before the end of his allotted time, Jiro led the Kirionaka in storming the Irilanda estate, killing every member of the family they found. To finalize his victory, Jiro entered Natami Harden of the Irilanda and took the Houses Natami, the icon of rebirth for the family, and buried it upside down within his own Houses garden. With this, the Kirionaka declared their victory in battle and the end of their vengeance. The next years of Jiro's life were spent fighting numerous minor Houses who attempted to move in on the weakened Kirionaka, during which time Jiro would join the Blue Wheel Party, breaking with the War Party that his family had been loyal to since their founding.
