Name: Jen'asha Station ('hidden victory' in Ancient Sith)

Intent: A foothold for exploration in absolutely uncharted territory. A mining station. A secure vault to replace the mobile, cloaked repository ship lost to SCINET.

Classification: Trade/Exploration/Mining Station

Location: Otherspace, in a location comparable to a realspace point not far from the Gromas system

Affiliation: Fringe Confederation/Akure Executive Leatherworks/Mohc Extractives

Population: 14,720 crew, room for 67,000 passengers (currently only 300 passengers)

Defenses: Jen'asha station features a completely stock loadout for a Ro-class Trade Station. Relevant elements include:

  • Five Dual Ion Cannons
  • Fifteen Turbolaser Cannons
  • Twelve Concussion Missile Launchers
  • Forty-Eight Quad Laser Cannon Turrets
  • Forty-Eight Flak Cannons
  • 24 Starfighters
  • 12 Interceptors
  • Space for up to 48 light freighters (max)
  • Standard Deflector Shield Generator
  • Standard Sensor Array
  • Standard Targeting Systems
  • Tractor Beam (x18)
Excerpt from stock submission: The Ro-class is a fairly standard civilian station, with all the amenities one would expect of a trade station. It possesses a varied suite of defenses, centered on its defense guns. Most of the flak cannons are situated around the widest part of the station while the quad laser cannons are spread evenly across the station. In addition, the Ro-class possesses five dual ion cannons and fifteen turbolaser cannons to dissuade larger targets as well as a permanent garrison of two fighter and one interceptor squadrons.

Its large hangers do have room for up to forty-eight freighters to be docked simultaneously, though this is its absolute max. To assist in the high-volume traffic that comes in and out of the stations each day, the Ro-class is armed with numerous tractor-pressor beams. Docking and undocking is done through a controlled, automated system to prevent collisions.

Points of Interest:

Secure Vault - In keeping with the security level of a standard trade station's high roller vault, the station contains reasonable security arrangements. Coupled with the station's location in Otherspace, this vault comprises a sufficient level of security that Rave Merrill feels comfortable storing alchemical samples, terentatek breeding genomes, and prized possessions here.

Main Cartography - A set of offices focused on correlating nav data from vessels that explore Otherspace. Main Carto is a high priority, and not just for resource location purposes. This office records all known Charon locations and signs of recent passage, and makes that data available to outgoing exploration craft.

Main Biological Intel - Main BioIntel is devoted to analyzing the Charon, their undead starships, and any other forms of life found in Otherspace. A handful of AEL beast handlers and minoe alchemists are on staff.

First Contact Division - FirstCon is a relatively small division, comprising xenosociologists and protocol droids, kept on retainer in case of contact with non-Charon. At a guess, they'll be waiting for a long time. In the meantime, they analyze ruins and hulks left by Charon devastation. When genetic samples are found, they work closely with BioIntel.

Extractives Office - ExO, as it's known, coordinates prospecting and ore procurement on nearby dead worlds, as well as armed escorts in case of Charon contact. The primary financial justification for Jen'asha Station's capital outlay, ExO sends freighters on one-way trips back to realspace every few weeks. They are routed through the Mohc Extractives mining facility on Gromas 16, in an ore-based version of money laundering.

Training Centre - This is quite small and spartan, an area with the right equipment for Rave or her close associates to keep their skills sharp while on Jen'asha Station.

Description: Jen'asha Station is a hub of exploration and prospecting, a foothold in absolutely uncharted territory. It may prove to be an unprofitable boondoggle, as the Charon have scoured all known Otherspace worlds clean of life, and the ancient galaxies of Otherspace have seen resources exploited for eons. It will likely be brought back to realspace in the Gromas system if its two years' consumables run out, or if faced with a serious Charon assault. Likewise, its existence will leak sooner or later; that cannot be helped. For the moment, however, Jen'asha Station remains a center of quiet attention, and an unprecedented exploration effort.

Though Jen'asha Station can send vessels back to realspace via hyperspace jumps, contact of any kind from realspace to Jen'asha Station relies wholly on rare Otherdrive trips. Jen'asha Station is completely cut off from realspace in terms of communications equipment.

The station remains completely stock; costs were already high enough without modifying it. The only special element is its location.

History: After a Fringe bulk freighter full of Elrood evacuees found itself temporarily stranded in Otherspace, its young commander found herself fascinated by the bizarre, deadly alternate dimension. In her later career as a Fringe High Councilor, she promoted the development of a reliable, though highly controlled, means of accessing Otherspace and beginning to understand its bizarre physics. After her move to the private sector, and AEL's substantial growth, she came into possession of a Ro-class station, around the same time as the Fringe Otherdrive project finally produced a handful of working models. In cooperation between AEL and the Fringe, at high levels of security, the trade station was briefly outfitted with an Otherdrive and sent across the gap. The Otherdrive was subsequently returned by standard hyperjump.
