One of the last bastions of the Light left standing in a galaxy once more on the edge of darkness, the New Jedi Order is the largest and most organized successor organization to the original Jedi Order of the Republic. Forged in the crucible of conquest over a tyrannical One Sith empire, the NJO is extremely orthodox in its views on the Force, with a militant edge.
Led by the Grand Marshal, there has been no true Council as there was in the time of the Republic, but instead a group of trusted PC Jedi Marshals who execute the will of their leader. While there are many within so large an Order who follow a more traditional and less martial path, even hold some moderate views, the NJO is primarily known for training soldiers of light. It is not uncommon for Knights to serve alongside planetary security forces, or within the military as Jedi Commanders.
But Alliance space is vast, and its people are varied. So while Darkside cults or trained adepts are hunted down and neutralized, individuals and organizations deemed sufficiently harmless by the Triumvirate are also given free reign to practice their religious beliefs and even serve alongside their New Jedi Order comrades if they so wish.
