OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Holocron Name: Jedi Master Arr Loth Piernyl's Holocron
  • Alignment: Lightside
  • Origin: Jedi Master Arr Loth Piernyl
  • Affiliation: Mathieu Brion
  • Gatekeeper: Jedi Master Arr Loth Piernyl was the creator and gatekeeper of her Holocron. Born in 572 ABY, the Besalisk Jedi Master had lived 60 eventful years before creating her holocron. But even at an advanced age, Piernyl had a most impressive physique and was quick to take command of whatever room she appeared in. But there was no intimidating factor in it - regardless of how imposing one might have been before, most of those qualities were lost upon being projected as a hologram. What helped the Master was the limitless amounts of gravitas she commanded and carried herself with. She had been one of the leading experts, if not the expert in her field of control-based force capabilities during her time alive, and it certainly showed.

With sharp eyes and an even sharper wit, the Gatekeeper would reprimand those not following the lightside and was even known to simply refuse to appear on those whom she had given up on. This did not mean that she was overly kind to the followers of the light - no, her expectations were high and she did not hesitate to let somebody know precisely what her thoughts were, even if they would feel hurt in the moment. But in the end, Piernyl was a kind soul, both in life and as a Gatekeeper, she had a good sense for when she could push and when she should hold back.

The Gatekeeper's primary goal was to share knowledge. This would, however, not be done carelessly to any who asked. Belonging to the lightside was not quite enough to satisfy the old Besalisk. She wanted to see that the student who she was going to teach was worthy. This often required a bit of knowledge in the field from before and a physical prowess which made her feel safe in trusting that the user would not use the force as a crutch.

Arr Loth had never been much of an instructor. She did not like exploring theoretical what-ifs and entertain what she had described as "silly questions" all day. The Gatekeeper shared many of those traits but would still answer most questions when asked. Still, her teachings were efficient for some and were rather interesting too, seeing how they often contained a substantial amount of personal anecdotes which sometimes carried historical value in 860 ABY. Often, the teachings which the holocron had to offer began with the Gatekeeper telling a story.
  • Description: To share knowledge on control-based force capabilities with worthy followers of the light.
DEFENSES
  • Accessibility: Opens at the touch of a force sensitive being aligned with the lightside.

CONTENT INFORMATION
Jedi Master Arr Loth Piernyl was an expert within the field of control-based force capabilities and taught what she knew to those who were worthy rather freely. There were few secrets which she had to keep. The one field where she would hesitate in parting with what she knew was in regards to Morichro - a force power which she believed only a Master should dabble with. Still, if she thought of someone as truly worthy and capable, she would even relent on this front, and teach them the ability after a few warnings and a very long story.

There were many capabilities regarding which the Besalisk could offer expert knowledge, including Force Cloak, Force stealth and Thought Shield - all capacities which would allow one to 'hide', even from other force users. Piernyl would often stress how important it was to sometimes disappear if it meant that bloodshed could be avoided. Alongside these three capacities, the Gatekeeper also tended to show great enthusiasm in teaching her students about Detoxify Poison, a capacity which could prove invaluable in a persons survival.

The skill in which Piernyl was the most knowledgeable was Enhance Attribute. There, she could talk for hours upon hours for days, weeks and months. While she still did not like to go much into theory, she sure could, and would gladly show nuances and sides of the capacity which others often missed. This was where her time and dedication were truly on display and the knowledge she could share was immense. And even then, Piernyl could offer insight on Force Enlightenment to further boost the capacity of a particularly adept learner.

Even then, the Holocron still had many other skills to offer and could, for instance, also share advanced techniques on how to properly use Force Body.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Created in 632 ABY, the Holocron of Jedi Master Arr Loth Piernyl had gone through surprisingly little during the years since its creation. Piernyl's intent was to share what she knew about the field in which she was highly revered. That is how the Holocron was initially used and for decades, it had been stored in the Jedi Library where she had served. While the Jedi Master had been reluctant to create the Holocron at first, often citing how poorly she taught, she came to rejoice at its creation later on. For it meant that she could refer people to the Holocron instead of having to teach them herself. Naturally, the joy found in this was not due to an irrational dislike of people, but rather a dislike of teaching. In a sense, the Holocron could be described as a little bit more patient.

The Holocron disappeared from the Jedi Libraries a few years after Arr Loth Piernyl's passing. In fact, it had disappeared with a number of other holocrons. A daring heist had taken place and the intent was to sell the holocrons to the highest bidder - presumably to parties interested in corrupting the holocrons or keeping them as trophies. That would not be the fate of Jedi Master Arr Loth Piernyl's Holocron, however. It was dropped and lost, leaving it to years spent without any use. And when it eventually came to use, it was by people who did not appreciate its true value. Over the years, the Holocron have been used as a paper weight, table decoration, modem holder and much more. It passed through multiple hands until Mathieu Brion finally heard of it and consequently recovered it.
