DESCRIPTION
Some ancient Jedi groups used confessional chambers made of kyberite mineral to confess their sins to the Force. Stepping inside one could be an overwhelming experience; those who had much to confess would feel it keenly. At one point, Darth Vader was tricked into an ancient confessional on Tython, and the Force resonance was strong enough to incapacitate him and repress his Force abilities.

Quill's confessional talismans aren't that powerful, but they retain the old confessionals' relationship to guilt and conscience. They're made by meditating on one's sins and mistakes honestly, without justification - a taxing process, especially since it requires being willing to give up whatever one gained through those errors. It's not meant to be a negative or flagellating experience: this kind of meditation can help the mind and spirit find healthy ways forward, focus on preventing future mistakes, and fix or make amends for past ones.

If a Jedi owns a confessional talisman, they can also use it to awaken someone else's conscience. This ability is a two-edged sword: while some Darksiders have run from their overwhelming guilt, others eventually just devolve into resentful fury.
