SPECIAL FEATURES
- Tomuon cloth treated with Thermal-gel.
- Provides protection from blaster fire and vibro-blades: The Shell-spider silk out of which the inner layers of the robes are made provide great resistance against blaster fire and vibroblades. This material was chosen for the fabrication of the robes with two purposes in mind: to avoid serious injury when training and to offer some protection to the younglings in case any threat does unexpectedly fall upon them.
- Kinetic damage: The Tomuon cloth, which comprises most of the outer layers of the Youngling robes, was subjected to a treatment with thermal-gel. Though the substance is not evident to the touch, the micro-fibers composing the Tomuon cloth are drenched in it. Thanks to this, the robes help absorb some of the impact when the Younglings fall, are hit by something or take any other form of kinetic damage, which is a common occurrence during their training.
- Protection from the elements: The robes are breathable but can keep warmth pretty well if they need to. Usually they are enough to keep the Youngling comfortable with most climates, though more protection is needed for the harsher than average environments.
- No EMP/Ion Protection: The robes offer no protection whatsoever against Ion/EMP weapons.
- No protection from sonic attacks: The robes offer no protection whatsoever from sonic attacks.
- Very weak against lightsabers: Though the energy conducting properties of the Shell-spider silk might provide a minimum, and almost miraculous, defense from grazing strikes, the robes are no match for a lightsaber and very easily destroyed by a simple blow as long as its more or less direct.
The Je'daii adherent to the Temple of Padawan Kesh, caretakers of the Silent Academy of Ceto and the many younglings it houses decided they needed to create a standardized set of clothing for their students. The design was made with the main needs of the students and their training in mind, thus creating a comfortable, elastic and resistant attire.
The robes are not all exactly the same, and are often tailored sligthly different from one another as to provide individuality to each Youngling. They are made in a variety of earth-tones ranging from lighter whitish/creamy colors, all shades of brown and darker, almost black fabrics. Often times, Younglings are allowed to decorate their robes with small details or patterns added in opaque tones of the colors representing each of the other Tho Yors (dark yellow for Akar Kesh, dark purple for Anil Kesh, magenta for Bodhi, dark green for Kaleth, cyan for Mahara Kesh, dark orange for Qigong Kesh, dark red for Stav Kesh and maroon for Vur Tepe).
