ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • Long-range firepower
  • Can generate interdiction fields
  • Can penetrate interdiction fields
  • Great squadron capacity
Weaknesses:
  • Slow, ponderous for its size
  • Exposed gravity well projectors
  • Easy to capture if a hull breach doesn't kill the ship: the internal space mostly gave way to the reactor, hangar and gravity well projectors, giving the ship limited space for crewmembers
  • Requires escorts to be effective in battle
Description: When it was found that the existing corvettes among Therapy Command's service did not have sufficient internal volume to carry four squadrons of attack craft, much less Telepath-III heavy strategic bombers, it was decided to design a wider and higher corvette, and, given its low speed, it was decided that long-range firepower, under the form of energy torpedoes, would be outfitted, as are tractor beams and two gravity well generators. The end result was not only a pocket carrier, but also a pocket interdictor, similar in tactical use to the much larger Lothal-III or Immobilizer 422. However, the Jambiya is not without its flaws: thanks to the demand in space for interdictors, hangars and other essential systems, its cargo and passenger capacity also suffer, making it relatively easy to capture for an enemy boarding party. In addition, the gravity well projectors are exposed, making them easy to target by enemy attack craft or even other enemy corvettes. For this reason it is recommended not to deploy Jambiyas without an escort.
