Description: The Apailana-class is a top-tier personal luxury transport designed for maximum luxury and survivability. Named for a noted hero-queen of Naboo, the Apailana is marketed to aristocrats and technocrats alike.
The Apailana-class can operate with only a pilot and a co-pilot, along with five astromech droids; a full crew complement would also include a comscan operator, a navigator, a doctor, a shield operator, and five countermeasures operators, for a total of eleven crewers and five droids. Four prestige passengers and six guards can live aboard comfortably. The vessel can subsist for eight weeks with a full crew and passenger complement. Cargo capacity is very limited due to the lift mass and volume requirements of the advanced countermeasures systems. Internal aesthetics visible here.
A comprehensive countermeasures suite permits the Apailana-class to deactivate or redirect incoming warheads, defeat tractor beams, and resist ion/EMP damage. Molecular shields and Aegis receptor nodes keep the Apailana safe from most hazards. Apart from advanced countermeasures, however, the vessel has no armament whatsoever.
Fuel tanks are kept in the wings, whose narrow, elegant cross-section renders them vulnerable if the Apailana’s superb shields lose power. In the event of a fuel tank explosion, internal baffles and plating, along with small emergency field generators, keep the engines and main hull safe. In such cases, the vessel would only lose two-thirds of a wing, though its in-atmosphere performance would suffer drastically. In case both wings are lost, a small backup tank in the main fuselage kicks in.
