OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Proton Cannon
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy (~34 Tons)
  • Ammunition Type: Proton Shells (Single-Feed Magnetically-Loaded) (305mmx1650mm Shells)
  • Ammunition Capacity: Very Small
  • Effective Range: Battlefield
  • Rate of Fire: Very Low (With a new/poorly-trained crew) Low (With a well-trained crew)
  • Stopping Power: Very High
  • Recoil: Very High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • It has an ammo elevator at the rear and a magnetic ram for pushing shells into the breach.
  • There are several fire control computers where the crew can automatically choose where their fire mission has been placed and then the fire control computer will automatically traverse and elevate the gun and select the trajectory for the shell.
  • This weapon is easily mountable onto a T80 Chassis, making it very mobile.
  • This weapon's fire control computer can be slaved to its battery command center and a Multiple Round Simultaneous Impact fire mission can be conducted using the entire battery.
  • Due to its very long barrel it outranges most other artillery of its own role.
  • At maximum power it is capable of reaching shells into low orbit, but this weapon lacks the complex anti-air bursting shot mode of its smaller cousins, but a large stationary vessel is fair game for its very powerful shells.
  • Possesses an integral emergency shield generator, able to protect the gun and its crew from counter-battery fire and air strikes.
  • Possesses a repulsorlift drive that can allow it to be towed by any sort of vehicle.
STRENGTHS
  • This weapon is incredibly powerful, capable of leaving craters the size of an Olympic swimming pool, or it can blast holes into small warships and large civilian ships if they aren't careful about where they are positioned and provide a stationary target.
  • Very long range due to the long barrel and fire control computer.
  • Able to execute MRSI fire missions as entire batteries.
  • Possesses a shield generator for crew and gun protection.
  • Very powerful direct-fire capability.
  • Can be easily mounted on large vehicle chassis.
  • Can displace from its position quickly, requiring only the push of a couple buttons to lock the gun into place and then lift the gun off the ground, the prime mover vehicle can then tow it away.
WEAKNESSES
  • Very vulnerable if its shield is breached.
  • Cannot move on its own, needs to either be mounted on a vehicle to become a self-propelled artillery piece or towed by a prime mover vehicle.
  • Slow rate of fire compared similar weapons.
  • Its shells are vulnerable to detonation from prolonged heat exposure, blaster fire, and large shrapnel once their protective casings are removed.
  • Heavy weapon, requires a whole emplacement process to be ready to fire.
  • Requires a large and well-trained crew (10).
  • Uses shells, so ammunition needs to be present.
  • Has a blind spot, cannot engage targets within a kilometer.
  • It is not a dedicated anti-orbital cannon, therefore it is not meant to be able to engage fast targets, or large targets.
DESCRIPTION
Designed as a long-ranged heavy-hitting artillery piece integral to all CRAF brigades' artillery battalions. This weapon is typically used in widely-spaced six-gun batteries, and is always accompanied by a large logistics train with heavy sensor support. These battalions have five batteries, meaning each CRAF brigade has thirty of these heavy guns, whether they are stationary defensive mounts or self-propelled guns for field units. This heavy emphasis on IDF firepower is in keeping with the CRAF's emphasis on artillery being the king of the battlefield, and this weapon is the principle go-to artillery piece for the CRAF army. This weapon therefore is present in great numbers amongst the CRAF army. With a range of fifty miles, this weapon can be slated to engage a whole variety of targets including enemy command and control centers, logistics depots, and enemy artillery (Again in keeping with the emphasis on artillery being key to battlefield success).

This sub is not the vehicle, this is the weapon which could be mounted on the vehicle that is referenced. As I do not have yet have a sub for the SPG I merely said it was a mountable weapon system. This weapon in terms of its mobility is little different than an M777 Howitzer. In regards to its relationship to the self-propelled gun: This sub would be the M101 105mm howitzer, which has a carriage, the SPG would be the M7 Priest Self-Propelled Gun which uses the M101, but they are not the same item, the M101 is a component part of the M7. Therefore, I am submitting the component to the self-propelled gun.

Alright that works for me. I like making the pieces of a whole

Your rating still has to be changed however

This weapon is incredibly powerful, capable of leaving craters the size of an Olympic swimming pool, or it can blast holes into cruisers if they aren't careful about where they are positioned.

THis will also need to be addressed as the scale between the cannon and a cruiser is to large. For its size and power the highest I would go is freighters around 100m's

This weapon is a descendant of a weapon that blew holes in Acclamators (J-1 Semi-Autonomous Proton Cannon), and it's bigger than it, plus technology has progressed over the preceding eight hundred years. I wrote that assuming that the progress of weapons technology has improved at the same rate in terms of shielding and armor, as it does IRL. If that truly needs to be changed, I will change it. But I'd like a confirmation of technology progression before I do so.

Chaos balance and Legends/NuCanon are sadly two different things. There are few ships able to reach on chaos at the size and production the amount of fighters a venator can carry. Same with weapons, while technology can progress and change there is much more needed to balance it out.

So corvettes (That are foolish enough to let themselves be hit which is unlikely considering their size and speed) and large freighters are probably fair game?
