STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Strengths:
- [+] Firepower: With four artillery cannons, the Hellfire Lohengrin boasts impressive long-range firepower.
- [+] Firing Rate: Its powerful weapons are able to fire at a relatively rapid pace.
- [+] Range: The self-propelled ammunition gives the Hellfire Lohengrin unmatched range.
- [-] Speed and Maneuverability: With a low top-speed, and limited maneuverability, the Lohengrin is a sluggish machine.
- [-] Stationary Fire: The Lohengrin must be stationary, and deployed in its firing mode, to utilize its powerful weaponry.
- [-] Ammunition Capacity: Holding a limited amount of ammunition, the Lohengrin must be regularly resupplied during battle.
- [-] Defensive Capabilities: With no defensive weaponry, the Lohengrin must rely on support units to protect it.
- [-] Minimum Range: At a distance under 20km, the Hellfire Lohengrin cannot bring its guns to bear on a target.
- [-] Environmental Impact: The effectiveness of the thermobaric ammunition is negatively impacted by adverse weather conditions, or high altitudes. Additionally, the weapon could not be used underwater.
A variant of the IW/IE-AW01A Lohengrin, the IW/IE-AW01HF Hellfire Lohengrin was designed to act as an extremely long range artillery walker, utilizing self-propelled thermobaric shells. When detonating, thermobaric shells utilized oxygen from the surrounding area to produce an intense, high-temperature explosion, which unleashed a longer blast wave. This explosion created a vacuum, which could rupture the lungs of any infantry in the immediate vicinity, not killed by the initial blast. In cases where the fuel is released, but does not detonate, it could still prove to be extremely lethal, by burning those in the vicinity. Those at the fringe of the blast suffer internal injuries, such as burst ear-drums, crushed inner ear organs, severe concussions, ruptured organs, and possibly blindness. These shells could not be effectively used underwater, at high altitudes, or in adverse weather conditions.
The two missile 'arms' present on the Lohengrin were removed, and replaced with 'anchor' arms. These arms would unfold, and penetrate deep into the ground. This, in conjunction with a bracing system that extends from the back, allowed the Hellfire Lohengrin to fire its primary weapons without tipping over. As it isn't a major revision of the Lohengrin series, it has all the same weaknesses as the base unit. It could move quickly, and had to be dropped in by transport. It had no defensive capabilities, and had to rely on allied support units to protect it. Due to the destructive nature of the ammunition, and its self-propelled properties, the Hellfire Lohengrin had a minimum range where it could use its weaponry. If the target was within twenty kilometers, the Hellfire Lohengrin could not fire on it.
Following the Military Executor's defection from the crumbling empire, the Hellfire Lohengrin's production facilities, as well as any incomplete units, were destroyed. Scuttled to deny the One Sith the opportunity to reverse-engineer the artillery walker. In addition, the technical blueprints, and surviving units, were stolen by Baelor-loyalists, and transferred to the renegade fleet.
