STRENGTHS
  • Combat Restriction: The Iviin heavily restricts movement within its effective field. Though it does not outright prohibit movement, every step, swing, or simple turn of the head is severely labored.
  • Disorientation Queen: The sudden creation of the gravitic field and flashbang detonation means that the Iviin is almost more disorienting than restrictive as a weapon.
  • Dumb Weapon, Works Every Time: The highly mechanical function of the Iviin makes it safeproof against many standard countermeasures such as EMP. Its sturdy construction and casing make it highly resilient to any exterior damage that might result in it being a dud.
WEAKNESSES
  • Restriction, not Impoundment: The Iviin makes the life of anyone caught within its field much harder, but movement is only more labored, ultimately not impossible.
  • Fixed Radius: Outside of the gravitic field, life continues as normal. The spherical field remains fixed in place as long as the grenade does, and the grenade is designed to root itself in the ground. Anyone caught within its grasp may (with difficulty) escape it.
  • Armor-Sealed: The effects of the flashbang may be mitigated by pressure-sealed armor or similar methods.
  • Not a Direct Weapon: The Iviin does not actually directly damage anything caught in its radius, barring indirect methods of damage. While literally holding or touching the weapon during its self-destruct implosion may result in harm, the weapon is not designed for mass destruction.
DESCRIPTION
The Iviin-type Gravitic Compression Grenade is a short-duration battlefield suppression device engineered to disrupt mobility and sensory stability rather than inflict direct structural damage. Built around a gravitic impeller core -- a miniaturized artificial gravity generator -- the device amplifies localized planetary mass-shadow interaction to generate a tightly constrained gravity intensification field that compresses movement within a sphere of a five-meter radius. The field increases effective gravity to approximately two to two-and-a-half times baseline, transforming agile engagement zones into punishing, weight-laden arenas of controlled combat.

Upon activation, the internal artificial gravity generator assembly spins up rapidly, drawing immense power from a single-cycle energy cell. As containment rings stabilize the surge, the device emits a sharp gravitic ignition pulse accompanied by a blinding photonic flare and a compact concussive shockwave. This ignition event produces a brief flash-disorientation effect comparable to a tactical stun grenade. Individuals within proximity may experience momentary visual washout, inner-ear destabilization, and spatial disorientation as gravitational vectors abruptly intensify. The flashbang component is short-lived, only seconds-long, but it compounds the destabilizing onset of the compression field, creating a narrow tactical window during which targets are both visually impaired and physically burdened.

Once stabilized, the compression field persists for approximately thirty seconds. During this sustained burn cycle, mobility becomes the primary casualty. Jetpack thrust efficiency drops dramatically under amplified gravitational load. Leap arcs shorten, evasive rolls become labored, and rapid directional shifts demand significantly greater muscular output. Heavily armored combatants feel their own mass turned against them, while momentum-based strikes lose speed and follow-through. The device does not pin targets flat, nor crush them under lethal force, but insteadstrips away vertical dominance and acrobatic freedom, forcing combat into grounded, deliberate exchanges where discipline and positioning outweigh agility.

The grenade is intentionally engineered as a burn-out system rather than a sustained emitter. Maintaining gravitic compression at these intensities exceeds safe operating tolerances for miniature field generators. After roughly thirty seconds of peak output, containment instability begins cascading inward. The impeller assembly collapses in a controlled structural implosion, producing a sharp concussive snap and a brief gravitational recoil pulse as the field collapses. The resulting discharge is localized and largely non-fragmentary beyond immediate proximity. Anyone physically holding the device at the moment of burnout risks burns or concussive injury, but properly deployed units pose minimal danger to the surrounding terrain. This deliberate self-destruction also prevents recovery or reverse engineering of the gravitic core.

Deployment versatility enhances its tactical value. The grenade can be magnetically clamped to metallic surfaces, embedded into soil or decking, or thrown and remotely triggered. Micro-spike stabilizers deploy automatically during spin-up, anchoring the device against recoil stress generated by compression forces. Furthermore, the grenade may be thrown, launched from Mandalorian vambraces (it is designed to integrate with standard Mandalorian systems), or outfitted to any type of payload delivery system. However, the suppression radius is fixed and finite; disciplined opponents can escape the field with effort and endurance.

The Iviin redefines the conditions of engagement for a decisive thirty-second interval. Speed falters, flight strains, and gravity itself becomes a weapon. When the field collapses, it leaves behind no lingering devastation, but of those trapped inside? It's free game.
