Nanna
Character
"One down, one to go." The young Beorni smiled lightly as she set a pendant down on the counter in front of her, making sure it lay neatly beside the pieces of fish bone that were not yet carved. Long pieces of sinewy string and other such beads of bone or wood lay in organized piles off to the edge of the small wooden table that sat in the center of her families home. She'd spent over a year trying to practice her bead making, hoping that she might make a necklace for her mother and maybe put a more permanent smile on her mothers face.
Nanna's mother used to be so happy, at least, until her mate had passed, or so said the other village adults. It pained her to see her mother so depressed and despondent, so much that she vowed she would do what she could to try and make her mothers life easier and happier. She did practically everything that she could to keep their home clean, and even went so far as to go get food for their meals while her mother was sleeping or away, hoping that her mother might relax for once.
The young Beorni picked up another piece of fish bone, one that she had already smoothed down to an oval shape, and began to delicately carve into it with her claw. There wasn't much meaning behind her carvings, sometimes they weren't even decipherable images but just intricate patterns that she had randomly come up with. Carving calmed her, and it was the one thing she often did to keep her focus and feel at peace.
Nanna hesitated for a moment, staring down at her paws. She stayed like that for merely a minute, her ears twitching back and forth as she focused on what seemed like nothing. She sensed something, something familiar, but she couldn't quite put her claw on it.
"Uncle?" She mumbled after another minute, raising her head to look towards the entrance to their house. A smile quickly spread across her face as she set down the pendant and ran for the door.
"Uncle Calder!"
