It's a Tiny Human!!

Naboo was quiet, too quiet for what Riggs was used to. His life as a military man or smuggler had always had him in some kind of danger, and this, well it was too safe. He understood why Teyla wanted to be there. Her family was all on Naboo, and they would want to know about the baby. Ever since they had made the decision to come back Naboo, Riggs had been keenly aware how important family was to Teyla despite the fact it seemed there was tension still. There were demands, ones that it seemed only one child tried to fulfill, Kintel. Damon like him to a degree, but then again, Riggs was used to being an only child. He had cousins sure, but added family. The captain was used to being alone, and until Teyla came into his life, Marcus was the only true family he had known. Sure there had been moments with Russo, but the two ended up wanting different things.

The baby was coming any day now, and after the close call that was VOID station, Riggs had been adamant they do something less dangerous. Naboo had been Teyla's idea, and for once she had agreed. It also helped that they had friends around that wanted to help them along. No one was more enthusiastic about the baby coming than @Athena. A tiny human she had called the baby when she first met [member="Teyla Ee'everwest"]. The energy with which she displayed her excitement had made Riggs laugh, but the cybernetic being had quickly endeared herself to them.

Teyla was found off her feet, doing whatever it was she could do to keep herself from going stir crazy. Multiple times a day Riggs heard her say she was more than ready for the baby to come, but near cursing that another day had passed without the arrival of the child. The glow of an expectant mother had given way to the frustration of one that was tired of being pregnant, and Riggs still found her beautiful.

It was truly amazing how every phase of pregnancy had Riggs thinking the same thing. It didn't matter that he body changed or that she gained weight as a result, Damon found her to be gorgeous, even more so somehow. The thought that she was carrying their child warmed his heart, and if he were pressed, Riggs would admit he was anxious to meet the baby. What he didn't know was that his wish was about to come true.

"One day closer... pretty soon you can stop carrying the baby, and I can start," Riggs teased and yet was serious all at the same time. He leaned over and kissed the top of Teyla's head. "How are you doing today?"

Teyla continued rocking in her chair on the porch, book in hand, drinking in the rich smells of the countryside and basking in the warm sunlight of a cloudless day. She’d been ordered to stay off her feet these last few weeks of pregnancy by their medical practitioner, something that was enforced by Damon. Not that Teyla necessarily minded being fussed over. Besides, it was nice out here, and there were few places in the Galaxy that brought the same kind of comfort as her childhood home.

From where she sat, the sparkling waters of the solleu river could be seen bending around the Ee’everwest estate, leading on to the miles of fertile land behind them. The land where the Estate stood, was covered in sparse patches of wild red milaflowers and rows of vineyards between them. Come next season, the grapes would be harvested and turned into summer wines to be sold in Theed.

Part of her wished they could stay here to raise their children, thinking back on all of the adventures, and misadventures, her and her siblings had gotten into as kids. She felt safe here, secure. But she knew this to be a ruse. [member="Ferian Adair"] still lurked somewhere in the shadows.

Even with her crew, and the man she had come to love by her side... Teyla knew that she'd always need to be vigilant. She no longer feared for her own safety, but the safety of the twins she'd soon bare. Her hand caressed her swollen stomach protectively. Ferian would never get his hands on them.

Snapped from her musings when a shadow appeared overhead, Teyla closed her book and looked up, distracted from her troubles by Damon's smile. Her heart calmed, and she reached for him, matching his smile with one of her own. “I feel fat and ungainly, but fine mostly, and still not in heavy labour.”

She scooted to the edge of her chair and onto her feet, wincing. Her hands went to the small of her back, rubbing where a cramp had set in since yesterday.

“Kintel tells me that he planned to take you into Theed today? I think that'd be good. Get out of the estate and stretch your legs. See the city. The baby seems to be on a schedule of his own, I don’t think he plans to vacate any time soon.”

“You my dearest, are not fat, but I am as anxious as you are. I want to meet him,” Riggs said to affirm his lover.

The smile on his face was wide at the thought of meeting the baby, and while everything in him wanted to help Teyla as she stood, Riggs knew better. She was her own woman, and there was only so much of his doting she would tolerate. Jenkins would have laughed to see him now, the self proclaimed bachelor about to be a father.

He nooded when Teyla asked about Kintel.

“He thinks I need to get out of here for my own sanity. To be honest I am getting stir crazy, I imagine you aren’t fairing much better?”

Damon wrapped his arms around Teyla and kissed her nose.

“Are you going to be okay if I go?”

The shadow of a slender figure splayed over the porch as the two lovers embraced, some approximation of a half-smirk playing on the shadow-owner's lips at Damon's query, which itself was born out of concern for the to-be mother.

"My sister will be fine without you," Eline quipped, her tone matter-of-fact - the 'and better off without you' went unsaid, though perhaps not unimplied, even with no indication of it, "were it me, I'd have gone mad long ago if my only companions were unwashed, ungrooomed men."

Blunt. Not a hint of cheek. Having stepped up onto the porch, she glanced sidelong at Damon - sparing that much attention for her sister's… chosen could either be taken for appraisal or judgement - then her attention refocused on the woman he embraced, who looked so like herself, despite only sharing half the parentage. One arm around Teyla's shoulders, Eline pressed lips to her cheek, then moved to an ear with hushed tones.

"I have hope my nephew will be as beautiful as his mother," then, pulling away, hand remaining on the closest shoulder, Eline raised her voice to a normal level, "I missed you fiercely, Teyla. Eira Pechal has me bored to tears."
