Italicized text disappearing in blogs.

Title is fairly descriptive. Another writer asked me if I had a typo in a blog post I made, and I could have sworn I didn't, but after looking at the post I was missing text. Once I opened up the editor however I found my text there, it just had italics BBC code around it ({i}{/i} with {'s replaced with ['s.). I've got no issues making do with bold, but having italics back would be nice.

Italics do not function in the Blogs, additionally some formatting doesn't transfer well. Not sure exactly why, but it doesn't!

This happens to me when I enter text with bbcode italics tags in the wysiwyg editor. If I then switch the editor to bbcode (which is unreadable because every paragraph becomes one line) and back again to wysiwyg, the italics appear reliably.
