OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Isstollans
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Isstol
  • Average Lifespan: 105 Galactic Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: The Isstollans, at a glance, appear to be a graceful and colorful evolution of an aquatic species onto land. A kaleidoscope of hues, the Isstollans are proud tribal people that live in harmony with the jungle world they call home.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I, can also breathe underwater through a secondary respiratory system and gills
  • Average Height of Adults: 1.87 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Teal Blue to light yellow
  • Hair color: Red to Purple (technically not hair, but the color of the frills on their heads and arms)
  • Distinctions: The most defining features of the Isstollans are the large frills that grow from their heads and elbows, frills that can act as fins while underwater. Among the males of the species, the frills tend to darker hues of reds and blues while among females the frills are pink to purple. The arm frills of the species act also as a lineage marker, meaning while their head frills might be purple, their frills could be green, yellow, or any other color.
  • Races: No other races
  • Force Sensitivity: Low
Strengths:
  • The Isstollans are naturals in the water, being able to swim swiftly and maneuver easily even in the fastest of currents. They also possess a second respiratory system through a smaller set of lungs behind their main set that are attached to a set of gills they can use to filter oxygen while underwater.
  • Isstollan eyes are able to see in low-light situations due to an extra membrane that they can consciously active or deactivate. This ability also helps them see easier in murky waters.
  • While Force Sensitives among the species are rare, they are almost always incredibly powerful in the Force when they are born. The Isstollan Shamans, the adult Force wielders among the species, have developed their own practices and techniques that focus on working with and controlling their natural surroundings (Plant Surge, Watershaping (similar to Kro Var Shaping), Animal Friendship, etc.)

Weaknesses:
  • Because of their dual respiratory system, they are more susceptible to gas-based weaponry, although they are unaware of this weakness themselves due to their world's primitive nature.
  • The Isstollans' have a slower ability to heal from injuries they sustain, especially to their frills, even if they were to encounter bacta or kolto. They have written this slow healing process to nature, but it is a leftover from the Gree's genetic regression of their ancestors.
  • Because of their isolation from the wider galactic community, they do not have resistances to many of the diseases and such that modern societies have written off as annoyances at best. A common cold from a world like Corellia or Coruscant could be enough to wipe out an entire tribe, meaning if any Isstollan would want to join the galactic society, they would need immunity boosters as soon as possible.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore
  • Communication: Isst (the species' own language)
  • Technology level: The Isstollans have not advanced past the advent of the bow and arrow, although they have developed techniques to shape jade into armor, weapons, and jewelry.
  • Religion/Beliefs: The central pillar of the Isstollans' religion is a respect for nature. They believe that living in harmony with the native flora and fauna of their world brings them closer to the collective spirit of those that came before. They believe this collective spirit is found within the waters of the rivers that flow through the jungle and the rains that fall, giving new life to the world and encouraging the growth of what already live.
  • General behavior: Daily life for adult Isstollans are focused on tribal betterment, with each individual contributing their skills to the collective whole. No one is discouraged from attempting new things, or accompanying those leaving on a hunt or forage. Tribes only have a few specialized roles, with the tribal chief, a shaman or two to advise the chief on religious matters, and the warriors to protect the tribe from rivals or dangerous wildlife. Unlike some other primitive societies, the Isstollans do not engage in gender discrimination so males and females can hold any and all roles within their society.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

In ancient times, the Isstollans were an arrogant species that believed they had a right to conquer their surrounding star systems. Their rapid expansion brought them to the attention of the Gree Enclave, one of the most advanced civilizations in the galaxy at the time. The Isstollan ancestors thought they could defeat the galactic power and declared war upon the Gree, only to suffer a horrendous defeat that culminated in a Gree bombardment of Isstol itself. Their empire lost, their homeworld in ruins and population annihilated, the Isstollans were further humiliated by a Gree Enclave that wanted this potential rival crippled.

The Gree performed genetic experiments upon the Isstollans, forcing their bodies and minds to begin regressing into a more primal state. The advanced technology and ruins of their prior civilization were buried under the planet and within newly created mountains by the Gree, erasing any trace of their old civilization. The survivors were then left to eke out an existence on the devastated planet, regressing further and further from what they were... but that regression eventually came to an end.

Over the ensuing millennia, the planet recovered and became covered in jungles, rivers that had once been polluted now giving life. The Isstollans had once again begun forming a society, reaching the tribal stage by the time Gulag Plague was gripping the rest of the galaxy. Isolated as they were, they never suffered from the terrible disease. Instead, the Isstollans had learned to live in tranquility with their jungle and the water they believed was both life and the collective spirits of their ancestors, but not always with each other. As the years passed, tribes fought over the best hunting or foraging grounds, or over who would control a site sacred to their shamans. In all this time, they remained unaware of their ancient past, and the shamans had strictly forbidden anyone to enter the caverns and tunnels that lay within the northern mountains.

The species still remains unaware of the wider galaxy, one that has recovered from the Gulag Plague, but the Isstollans and their world are no longer as unknown to the galaxy. A survey ship discovered their world, and more importantly, found vast reservoirs of coaxium that an enterprising faction or company could mine. It now only remains a matter of time before the Isstollans' lives and very existence are forever changed...

These are beautiful. I'm still hunting for the creep factor because...You're spooky. But, these are: Beautiful.

Oh. I found it. They were turned into cave-men fish people by the Gree xD

Just one thing to go over:

I believe you're missing "Races" from the template. If it doesn't apply - Just mark it as "N/A".

Tag me when done!
