HISTORY
Isildor was born with two of the most storied bloodlines in the Consortium in his veins and precisely none of the political use that was supposed to come with them. His mother, a mid-ranking Lady of House Laskaris, married into the Djo line. Under Hapan custom, he took his mother's house name, and was raised understanding exactly what kind of son the Consortium wanted him to be. Cultured. Ornamental. Quiet. A future consort's polish, not a warrior's edge.

He was, by every account, a catastrophic disappointment on that front.

Where his cousins learned diplomacy and restraint, Isildor gravitated to the training salles and never really left. He dueled instructors twice his rank, talked back to matriarchs who expected silence, and treated every formal function like a dare. House Laskaris tried the usual correctives — tutors, betrothal prospects, stern women with sterner reputations — and none of it took. By the time he was old enough to be a genuine liability at court, the family had settled on a quieter solution: send him where his mouth and his blade could do less damage to the House name, and let distance do what discipline couldn't.

So began a decade of errands nobody expected him to survive. Escort details through pirate corridors. Debts collected from people who didn't collect debts politely. Postings that read, if you were honest about it, like exile with paperwork. He kept coming back. Not unscathed, not beloved, but back — and worse for House Laskaris's comfort, known, his survival becoming its own inconvenient legend in certain circles. His mother gave him Sha'sil the night he left for good — not a gift, exactly, more a thing said without words: if you insist on this life, at least don't die ugly.

These days he doesn't pretend Hapes wants him back, and he's stopped pretending he wants to go. Hutt Space suits him — a galaxy that doesn't care about his pedigree except as a conversation piece, where his blade is worth more than his bloodline and both are worth quite a lot at the right table. He picks up contracts the way other men pick up drinks: for the company as much as the credits. And when he's not working, he's spending everything he made doing it in Nar Shaddaa's gaming halls and Nal Hutta's private rooms, charming his way into circles that a title alone never would have opened.

He is, by his own cheerful admission, exactly the kind of man his House warned everyone about. He's simply decided that's a better story than the one they wanted to write for him.

That was the arrangement, anyway, until the Mandalorian Empire's fleets closed on the Hapes Cluster and did in a season what generations of matriarchs never managed: made House Laskaris and the Consortium want him. With the Consortium's throne scattered into a Court-in-Exile and every old certainty gone, a bloodline that used to matter for politics now matters for survival, and a disgraced duelist with a well-documented habit of walking out of unwinnable situations alive is suddenly worth more to his mother than the sons who stayed and behaved. Word has already reached him in Hutt Space: House Laskaris wants him back — not quietly this time, not as an errand, but as family.

Whether Isildor answers that summons, and what it would cost him to actually belong to the House that spent a decade making sure he didn't, is still very much an open question.
