Upon her birth, the woman now known as Irikah Zana knew abandonment. Found in the dumpster behind a cantina by a passing denizen, she was taken to Honorhall Orphanage, where she spent the first eight years of her life. At Honorhall, she found herself neglected, passed over. She was a weak child, one who struggled to accomplish even the simplest of tasks, and constantly faced abuse because of it, both from her caretakers and the other children. She learned how to be quiet, how to stay out of the way, how to avoid the notice of others. Irikah became known as a shy girl, and this only encouraged her bullies, who believed she would not fight back.

Fear is the path to the dark side.
Upon her birth, the woman now known as Irikah Zana knew abandonment. Found in the dumpster behind a cantina by a passing denizen, she was taken to Honorhall Orphanage, where she spent the first eight years of her life. She was a weak child, one who struggled to accomplish even the simplest of tasks, and constantly faced abuse because of it, both from her caretakers and the other children. She learned how to be quiet, how to stay out of the way, how to avoid the notice of others. Irikah became known as a shy girl, and this only encouraged her bullies, who believed she would not fight back.
Fear leads to anger.
She suffered this abuse until one day when she was eight years old. One of her regular abusers, a brute of a Rhodian child, tore the painting on a scrap of paper Irikah was working on, her only form of self expression. As she stared at the tattered remains of her creative mind, she felt something. An inner darkness rose inside of her, filling her small body with anger, with a rage unlike anything she had ever felt before. Filled with this dark anger, she attacked the bully. She pounded his face to pulp, her fists continuing to punch long after the light left the boy's eyes. As the rage left her, and Irikah realized what she had done, she fled the orphanage, covered in the blood of the bully. It was the first time she killed, but it was far from the last.
Irikah lived as a pickpocket for two years, sleeping in filth and eating the scraps of food she could swipe from market stalls.
That is, until she tried to steal from a Wookie named Grakcharr. The Wookie caught the orphan with her hand in his belongings, and enraged, demanded she pay ‘debt to him’. A slaver new to the Coruscant Underworld, he used the child to navigate the rather complicated landscape, sending her to do errands for him, charging her a ridiculous amount for ‘rent and board’, which they both knew she could never pay off to him.
That is, until she tried to steal from a Wookie named Grakcharr. The Wookie caught the orphan with her hand in his belongings, and enraged, demanded she pay ‘debt to him’. After three years, Grakcharr decided that the paltry amount of credits he was being paid from his ward wasn’t nearly enough. That was when he began entering her in fights. Thrust into an environment with which she was unfamiliar, Irikah found herself beaten in every fight she entered, only to face more abuse from Grakcharr for her failure. Frustrated at the rather lackluster start to his new venture, Grakcharr began forcing Irikah to ingest glitterstim. The telepathic boost from the drug gave her an advantage over her opponents, the drug and her own unrealized Force Sensitivity allowing her to predict the moves of other combatants. The orphan began raking in the credits for her Wookie keeper, who began advertising her as the ‘Black Lotus’, after her elegant fighting style and hair color.
As the years passed, Irikah began to extensively tattoo her body with designs of a black lotus flower, to fit her name, and became more and more addicted to the glitterstim she used to fight. In her mind, it was the only way she had any worth; it didn’t hurt that she enjoyed the high that came with glitterstim.
Hate leads to suffering.
As she moved through her teenage years, Irikah’s ‘Black Lotus’ persona became something more. Due to her mental state deteriorating from extensive glitterstim use and the abuse she suffered from both Grakcharr and her opponents, she slipped into the persona to escape the pain of reality. Over time, the Black Lotus became a separate personality, initiated by violence and glitterstim. When she took on this personality, Irikah became psychotically violent, living only to feel and inflict pain. Her fame was at an all time high, all of her fights raking in thousands of credits, making her keeper a very rich Wookie; but the only portion of the money Irikah ever saw was to buy enough glitterstim to survive another day.
As she reached adulthood, both Irikah and the Black Lotus wished to escape Grakcharr’s clutches, but he was the only source of the one thing they desperately needed: glitterstim. But refusing to give up hope, she searched for any alternative, any way to escape Coruscant, to become something more, even as the Darkness inside of her threatened to break through to the surface, and to bury Irikah underneath the Black Lotus.
Personality
A life of abandonment and abuse has left Irikah a humorless and hateful woman. She does not understand humor or metaphors, taking everything said to her very literally. She cares little for the well being of those around her, unless they can offer her something or benefit her in some way. She is very socially awkward, and distrusting of others.
Irikah has all but given up on her freedom, and has fallen into a state of despair, believing she has no hope for the future but more fights and continued use of glitterstim.
Strengths
(+) Over seven years of fighting in the Underground has honed Irikah into a fighting machine.
(+) With a combination of glitterstim and her own unrealized Force sensitivity, Irikah is able to read the surface thoughts of opponents and predict their moves in combat; however, this ability is not 100% accurate, and can be countered with strong mental defenses.
Weaknesses
(-) Crippling addiction to glitterstim. If separated from the substance, Irikah will weaken and become desperate for another fix.
(-) Has no experience fighting with any weapons of any kind, using only unarmed techniques.
