PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: Blith-Tech
Affiliation: Merides | Grayson Imperium
Model: IR-12 Redemptor
Modularity: Rail system for various attachments.
Production: Minor (Listed Factions only or explicit written approval)

Material: Durasteel, Alusteel.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Classification: Slugthrower | Assault Rifle
Weight: Average
Ammunition Type: 6.5 mm Caseless Ammunition
Ammunition Capacity: 60 rounds.
Reload Speed: Slow

Effective Range: Average
Rate of Fire: High | Very High (3 Round Burst)
Stopping Power: Average
Recoil: Low | Very Low (3 round burst)

SPECIAL FEATURES
Caseless rounds: This not only reduces ammunition weight considerably, it also allows manufacturers to not have to bother with expensive metal cases.
3 Round Burst: The weapon has a highly advanced 3 round burst which can fire at 2000 rounds per minute. This allows 3 rounds to be fired before most of the recoil has reached the shooter, reducing felt recoil considerably
Constant Recoil System: The weapon also has a constant recoil mechanism, which significantly reduces felt recoil by placing a repulsor on the bolt and the rear of the weapon, preventing the bolt from impacting the back and creating most of the recoil.

Strengths:
Caseless Ammo: Allows for more ammo to be stored, reducing soldiers carry weight and improving the ability for the ammunition to be manufactured.
3 Round Burst: Allows for a very rapid burst greatly improving hit probability as you can fire 3 times before your point of aim is adjusted.
Ammo Capacity: Caseless ammo gives this weapon a very high ammo capacity.
Constant recoil: The gun is very controllable in full auto due to the constant recoil system which prevents the bolt from impacting the back of the reciever.

Weaknesses:
Slugthrower: It has far less ammo than any blaster could ever have.
Reload: The weapon has a rather finicky magazine catch, meaning it can take multiple attempts to get it to latch. This renders the weapon a bit finicky to reload without proper training.
Overheating: Without a case to absorb a lot of the heat and remove it from the action, if the weapon is fired excessively the weapon is prone to cookoffs (A term for the weapon firing without pulling the trigger which can lead to runaway firings.)

DESCRIPTION
The world of Merides is somewhat of an anomaly in terms of military firearms. They have put a lot of effort into slugthrowers where other planets have opted for the much cheaper and easier to train on blasters. This is mostly at the behest of Alyson Halle, who noted the widespread use of personal mobility shields, which essentially render blasters ineffective against many conventional forces.

Falling in with this, the fledgling firearm engineers managed to come up with the IR-12, a highly advanced caseless rifle, taking complete advantage of modern materials to make something that would have been impossible in the slughtowers heyday. However, Merides lacked the ability to actually manufacture the weapon, so they contracted out to Blith-Tech to get the weapon into mass production.

The weapon is rather unconventional for caseless weapons, instead of using a drum bolt like many of them, it opts for a more conventional rotating bolt system, despite not exactly needing to as a caseless weapon. The reasons for this are twofold, it allows air to enter the action between shots, allowing for a certain degree of cooling by venting the hot gasses in the action, and it also allows for a constant recoil system, allowing the weapon to be highly controllable in full auto fire.

The weapon also comes equipped with standard rails, allowing it to take most attachments made by the arms industry in the modern day.

The weapon is designed to be highly easy to disassemble, with most of the disassembly being done with 3 captive push pins around the receiver. This allows the user to pull apart the upper and lower receiver, and then very quickly remove the barrel, fire control group, and bolt. This allows for easy access to most critical components in the field, allowing for easy cleaning and maintenance.

The weapon can also mount a standard Meridian vibro-bayonet. While bayonets are not commonly used in modern combat, the bayonet also functions as a combat and survival knife, allowing for the weapon to be a multi-use tool.

The weapon is fully ambidextrous, lending to its lack of case ejection and fairly good design on the part of the Meridian designers.

The weapon comes standard with a folding stock, however it can be refitted by the end user or an armorer.

Is there a previous submission for this particular type of round?

You left these in the middle of your sub. Not sure if you want to remove them or not.

Prone: Bottom feeding magazine makes it rather difficult to go prone with the weapon.
From what you have here, this makes me believe that you have a single stack 60 round Banana magazine style. You can fit easily 50 round mags for an AR-15 into the bottom of the lower receiver and still be in prone. Even the larger AK-Style weapon platforms can have rather large magazines and still be used in the prone position. Because of that, I feel like this really isn't a viable weakness. Unless you intend to give these to jawas, or smaller species?

Overheating: Without a case to absorb a lot of the heat and remove it from the action, if the weapon is fired excessively (500+ rounds in an hour is generally the limit) the weapon is prone to cookoffs.
Another addition to this weakness that you could tack on, is that overheating of the barrel can warp it. Causing problems with accuracy at longer ranges, or the longer you use the heated barrel. You can also damage the rifling on the inside of the barrel. Causing the rifling to expand and get a bullet stuck in the barrel.

Reload Speed: Slow
You mention it has a slow reload speed here. So I recommend that you add this to you list of weaknesses in general. I know you kind of mention it with your weakness of the Rockback magazine style, but I am not sure if that is the 100% issue of what is causing the slower reload or not.

In sequence:

No, removed the specification just in case.

Done.

Removed

It specifically stated that the weakness was cookoffs, I made it more vague in numerics and specified the meaning of the term to make it more clear.

Clarified that it is due to a finicky magazine catch.
