Ionite Bananza

Tyuk's ship descended into the atmosphere of Valnoos, flying over its casinos and making its way to the Asha Asteroid Mining headquarters located here, these routine inspections had been quite tiresome for Tyuk, the only reason he had founded this company was so he had a way to get off of Valnoos when he was trapped there. Now that was far in his past, and he had decided to keep the company, as it had provided a fairly decent amount of credits. But recently, the profit had been non-existent, as all of his expenses were outweighing the credits he was getting for the materials he sold. But as fate would have it, his luck was about to change.

Tyuk arrived at the landing strip of the Asha Asteroid Mining Limited headquarters on Valnoos, his ship docked and the pilot droid took care of all the routine landing formalities. Tyuk lowered the ramp and stepped out into the hangar, he was greeted by the one who ran the headquarters when Tyuk himself was absent. The human walked towards Tyuk and greeted him.

"Mr. Asha sir, you're just on time. I you'd kindly follow me, we can begin the inspection. I'm sure you want this to go as quickly as possible, so lets not waste any time" the man turned around, ushering Tyuk to follow,

"Yes, lets get going."

He patiently followed the man as he took Tyuk on the tour of the facility, pointing out certain processessing plants and mining operations. Tyuk could easily sense that the man was overexaggerated quite a bit of his statistics, but it didn't bother Tyuk, as he knew the state things were in, and he respected the man for trying to make things seem fine. They reached the head office in the headquarters, which marked the end of this part of the inspection, the man took his seat behind the large desk in the middle of the office, Tyuk stayed standing,

"Well, that concludes this part of the inspection. I trust you will be off to the Sarnus facility shortly Master Asha?" Tyuk did not speak, he just turned his back to the man and headed towards the hangar, on his way he sent word to the pilot droid to prep the ship for transport to Sarnus.

Tyuk arrived at the hangar and boarded his ship, "Are we all ready to go?" he said to the droid.

"We certainly are sir" it replied in it's monotonic voice "Starting take off procedures now" the droid turned to the controls of the ship and began the take off sequence. The ship began to rise off the ground, and the next thing Tyuk knew, they were out of the hangar and headed for the upper atmosphere, and on their way to Sarnus.

They arrived out of the hyperspace route only a short distance from where Sarnus was, the closer they approached the planet, the more of a feeling Tyuk had that something was going to go terribly good for him today. They arrived at Sarnus and began their descent into the planet's atmosphere, a tiny bit of turbulence later they were on the planet Sarnus, or at least flying above it. They flew over the many craters of the planet and arrived at the AAML facility there, signaling their presence they began the docking process. Slowly descending into the hangar and setting their ship down, Tyuk still felt the same feeling that something was going to happen, but he quickly dismissed it.

Tyuk lowered the boarding ramp and exited the spacecraft, walking into a hangar much similar to the one on Valnoos, except this one was entirely packed with various rock freighters and mining machines. Tyuk was greeted by the chairman of this facility, a human by the name of Larndan Crestel, he was quite an imposing figure, standing at 6'5" and built like an ox, it was fairly obvious he had been a miner from birth, "Greetings Mr. Asha" Larndan said with an over-sized grin on his face "Always a pleasure to see you"

"Yes, well, I believe you know what I'm here for, lets get this over with so I..." Tyuk was cut off by the sound of an alarm blaring. "Now what is that?" Tyuk asked

"Something that ain't good" Larndan replied "We need to report to the control room, ASAP."

Tyuk and Larndan burst down the corridors of the facility, making their way towards the control room. They pushed people out of their way and took any shortcut they could. When they finally arrived at the control room, it was in shambles, men and women of all kinds of species were running around looking at the various monitors and using the various consoles around the room. "Whats going on here" Larndan said in a voice loud enough that the whole room could hear him.

"There's an extremely large asteroid headed for the facility as we speak!" one of the main said, in a worried and out of breath voice.

"Well, whats new there, that happens every day, just use the tractor beam to maneuver it into place above the extraction point" Larndan said, trying to keep his voice as calm as possible.

"That's the thing sir, we tried that. It didn't do anything"

"Didn't do anything!? How is that possible" Larndan responded, there seemed to be more terror in his voice now.

"We believe the asteroid is made up of Ionite, which would explain the nullification of the tractor beam"

"An entire asteroid made of Ionite!?" Larndan said, obviously shocked "Thats.. thats got to be worth more than an entire planet!"

"It doesn't seem to fully be made of Ionite" the man said "But there is enough to nullify our beam"

"Larndon" Tyuk said "What would happen if the asteroid crashes into the facility?"

"Uhm" Larndan said "It would most likely take out at least three fourths of the facility, if not more"

Tyuk comprehended this answer for a bit, and then spoke "What do you think a safe distance for the asteroid to crash away from here is?"

The man spoke up "Well, the asteroid itself looks to be about three kilometers by 3 kilometers, and with the rate that its falling, a safe distance would probably be around forty to fifty kilometers away"

Tyuk did not say anything else, he simply ran off into the corridor, and headed for the roof of the facility. Tyuk stepped onto the roof of the control room. "I can do this" he told himself "I know I can." He looked into the sky and saw the gargantuan mass that was the asteroid, he planted his feet and braced himself for what he was about to do. He wasn't the most gifted person in telekinesis, but if he could shift the asteroids course angularly a bit, the momentum of the asteroid itself might do the rest. He reached out both of his hands and let the force flow through him, he used his to push against the asteroid, he felt more resistance than he had ever felt before, he pushed and pushed, but the asteroid would not budge. He kept exerting himself, pushing himself to the very limit. And the last thing he knew was darkness.

Tyuk burst awake. All of his senses becoming overpowered by the sudden exposure to consciousness, his vision was the first to return, it started as a blinding light, and then dimmed slowly, to reveal what looked like an empty white room, he was laying on a bed in the middle of the room. The next to return was his hearing, sirens were blaring and voices were chirping over an intercom system in Basic. He now realized where he was, the hospital of the Sarnus refinery. He got off of the bed, walked over to the door, and opened it. As he did, a 2-1B medical droid scurried past his door and down the hall. He exited his room and got moving towards the reception. By now his smell had already returned, and we wished it hadn't. An overwhelming smell of blood rushed into his nostrils, the metallic smell made him gag. He dismissed it and kept on his way to the reception area.

He arrived at the front desk where a receptionist droid stand. "What happened here droid?" Tyuk asked, his voice coming out weaker than he had hoped it to be.

"An asteroid struck the western part of the facility" the droid replied in a calm voice that seemed highly inappropriate considering what it was saying.

"What are we looking at casualty wise?" Tyuk asked the droid

"We currently have approximately 1,000 beings reported injured or deceased"

"Why such a low number?" Tyuk was now begining to remember what had happened prior to his waking up in the room. He had gone onto the roof of the control room to try and divert the massive asteroid that was headed towards the facility, but his efforts had been in vain, as his one working heart had been under too much strain, which had caused him to collapse and black out.

"We were able to issue an evacuation notice to the western part of the facility that prevented a higher mortality rate" the droid replied

"Where can I find Larndan Crestel?"

"Mr. Crestel is currently in his office in the northernmost part of the facility" Tyuk did not respond, he only turned away and headed towards Larndon's office. He needed to know more about what happened.
