Intent: To provide a new powerful weapon for the TE's arsenal.

Development Thread: If needed.

Manufacturer: The Techno Empire

Name: The IO Virus

Type of Consumable: Fungal Spore Virus

Legal Status: Highly Illegal - State Owned Only

Affiliation: The Techno Empire

Modularity: Yes, as the virus was created under artificial conditions, it can be modified, though the process is lengthy.

Homeworld (optional): Space Station orbiting Geonosis

Ingredients: The Virus is created by modifying the spores of a rare Geonosian Fungi (kerun), found deep underground.

Production: Minor

Strengths:
  • Quick-Acting - The Virus rapidly spreads through the body, and will start attacking the host in mere minutes.
  • High Affection Rate - The Virus will kill or disable any infected victims within minutes, by preventing the lungs from functioning. This will likely kill the victim, or knock them unconscious temporarily. However, many non-humans can survive this. Occasionally (20% of the time), people will be completely immune.

Weaknesses:
  • Non-Contagious - The virus can not spread from an infected victim to a non-infected victim.
  • Short Lifespan - Outside of a host, the virus will die within a couple of hours, unless it is kept at very-low temperatures.
  • Easy to eradicate - Pure Helium is lethal to the virus, and will instantly destroy any spores that it touches. However, this is top-secret, so very few people would know this.

Method of Consumption: Inhalation.

Average Life: Inside a victim, the virus lives as long as the victim lives. Since it is often fatal, this is usually only a couple of minutes. However, for survivors, the virus will linger in the victim's lungs, staying alive there. If removed surgically from such a survivor, the virus will die immediately open being removed. Outside of a host, the virus will die naturaly in 1-2 hours.

Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: The virus makes it's way to the lungs, upon inhalation. Once in the lungs, the Virus quickly covers the chemical-absorbing tissues, and corrupts them, making them cease to function. If the victim is lucky, their own immune system will be able to defeat the virus before the person is killed, but the person is likely to fall unconscious from this, or at least be temporarily weakened. Occasionally though, people are completely immune, and the virus does no damage at all. If the body can't defeat the virus in time, however, the lack of air will soon kill the victim.

Description: The IO4 Virus was created in a space station orbiting Geonosis. A team of scientists worked to modify different base sources, to make a Virus that suited the TE's needs. The whole mission was kept secret, and the scientists there were isolated from the outside world. 3 Virus's were created from the experiment, but the most useful one was the IO4 Virus, created by modifying kerun spores. The Virus was then stored in Refrigerated Container's, and taken to a more secure base on a nearby asteroid. The TE High Command was informed of the Virus, and tests were run repeatedly to find out the true effects of the virus. As a first test, the Virus was placed into small shells, and loaded into a specially made handheld launcher. As the TE's main forces are comprised of droids, the virus was not a threat to their own forces. Droids were equipped with the launchers, and used in a skirmish on the planet itself. The virus was used to great effect, as the spores could easily get through cracks in armour, and into fortified areas. The battle was easily won by the TE, and the virus was certified for use in battle, though it was mostly kept a secret from the non-military.

Infects in seconds through a variety of vectors, 95% death rate within minutes. It's non-contagious, but so is nerve gas. I can only find two instances of nerve gas being approved; both were quite a while ago, and both were relatively minor.

So here's the deal. I absolutely can't stamp a bio-WMD that works like a chemical WMD. Nerf the heck out of this plz.
