Introducing Bright Star: Makeb

And where were the spiders
Well, it had been how long that Marek was working on this project? With [member="Mrrew"] supplying the creates and the care taking, and he supplying the entertainment, the resort on Makeb had its set backs, sure, but now? Now he was here to open the doors. The official start now that the galaxy had returned to a state of normalcy. It was refreshing and he was more than excited to see everything back in place. Walking the grounds, he felt like he was about to open a park of dinosaurs.

That was an idea…

But he looked to his right where Ryan Farnes was. He was getting the last bit of information on the facility. The resort casino had a soft opening a few weeks back, but the resort, the entertainment by wildlife, that was new, and that was waiting for the grand opening. Fliers were out and a VIP list with many of the most industrious folk in the galaxy was sent out. Word of mouth and holonet advertising, compliments of Marek working to break into that field of business had helped as well. It seemed to be a pretty full docket.

“Looks like we’re ready, huh?” Marek spoke as Ryan nodded. “Don’t know why this one feels different, work put in?”

“Maybe, boss. Feel the next one should be a bit different, more gambling, less family oriented.” Marek knew that Ryan was all for blood sports and betting on them. Maybe he’d sponsor a few athletes, that could get the Bright Star name out there, right? Of course.

Well, the newest Bright Star Resort was set to open its doors at mid-morning local time. The animals were awake and attentive, vendors on standby and setting up. It all looked good, and the final check from Marek, walking through, making sure it was all in its place. That was important. The casino itself was in the center of the resort, with hotels, and time share condos surrounding the southern portion, which overlooked the ‘safari’ area, where many animals from around the south systems were roaming.

Doors opened in an hour. Marek had to be ready to greet people.

This was a different caliber than he was used to.

@Whoever wants to come to Animal Kingdom: Star Wars

An hour seemed like a long time to wait.

Aela had always loved family vacations. They were the only times that she could be surrounded by her Mother, Father, siblings and find herself not being annoyed. It was because the environment was different. It was because instead of home, they were out and about, they were doing things. When they went to Onderon they trained with Oma, when they went to Kashyyyk they explored, when they went to Ithor they roamed the floating cities.

When they went away from Borleias, Aela was usually the first to come out of the gate.

Of course here it was a little different. Instead of the wilds, instead of the wastelands and crazy jungles they were staying at a resort. A fancy and slightly pompous hotel.

Were it not for one simple fact about this resort Aela would have outright refused to go, that fact being the animals that were kept here. Aela and Maleah both had a special gift when it came to animals, and though Maleah was much more in tune with that gift Aela still found herself drawn to the creatures of every planet they were on. Here it was no different, and the fifteen year old found herself fidgeting as she waited for the last hour to pass before she could go and see the resort.

Of course the rest of the family was here. Mother and Father ha d wandered off to ensure their rooms were ready, and her siblings...well they were around somewhere.

Her head swiveled from left to right, looking for Micah, Maleah, and Kaili. Her lips thinned slightly and her bright orange eyes took on a look of annoyance. They were likely getting into trouble somewhere.

Marek wasn’t one to leave a crowd waiting. Sure, he was no Danger Arceneau, but so few people were. There was like… Danger, and that was it who knew how to use her assets to make a crowd move. See? If he was a female and running this entertainment empire, that would be something else. Maybe he should put Token Waters up as the public face. Girl was very smart, and barring being his like… second cousin once removed (if we consider http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~picard/CousinChartFinalColor.jpg]this chart, you’re welcome children who are showing up[/url]) she was very pretty. Would make a killing in his line of work. Hell, maybe he should talk to her about working on something more than just being the pace cars for the liners.

Still, it was almost that time, wasn’t it? Looking to Ryan, Marek shrugged. “Seems like this place is ready to go. Passed all stress tests, so we won’t have raptors anything running wild while the park is open. And unlike some, we’re not crazy and aren’t cloning super monsters.” Not yet. Maybe the next park would be cloned super lizards. But not yet. Right now? Marek had to open the park.

And that was just what he was going to do. He made the way to the front gate. Music was playing, themed music from the South Systems, enough to keep people in the loop of where they were. Vendors were out handing out water, and holonet personalities were covering the whole thing. It was a pretty fun event, well, Marek would’ve enjoyed it, should he ever think at it like a breeder would. What he was enjoying was that they were seeming to show up here, and this investment in family entertainment was not going to be a complete wash. Kids loved animals, right?

Anyway, he stepped up to the Podium as his CFO Ryan Farnes turned down the sound. Making sure to turn his mic on without making the sound of interference because Marek was a professional, damnit, he looked around. “Good morning, ladies and gentlebeings, and kidlings from all species! I’m Marek Starchaser, and I would like to welcome you all to the newest Bright Star Resort, the Makeb Creature Park! Having been assisted by the Beast Hunter’s Guild, the creatures are all very happy, well cared for and safe here. The only thing they’re waiting for is you! So please, enjoy the park, learn about the creatures of the galaxy and we hope you enjoy your stay on Makeb!” And with that, he opened the gates. Now the kidlings could run around to their hearts content. First thing first though, he needed to get a map of this park and make it seen that he’s out there. Shaking hands and kissing babies.

Getting in trouble?

Oh that may or may not be true. Really it depends on a matter of perspective. And if this matter of perspective is an attempt to test out ways to track people in a ridiculously packed environment -- you better believe it!

All in all, Micah would pretty much blend into the crowd. He would appear to be your standard teenager - he was almost thirteen, so that still counts - and with his hood tossed over his head of his jacket, he didn't appear too much out of place. The added shadow cast over the upper part of his face, allowing that the bright orange of his eyes remain hidden -- for now.

He'd bite the corner of his lower lip, his brows furrowing, mind racing as he would consider how to go about it. He'd done it on family before; but tracking through the Force a stranger?

This was bound to get more interesting.

Now he just needed a target.

One could almost think there was a mental disturbance somewhere in Kaili’s mind the way she kept on going about adventure pretty much everywhere she went. A talk with her sister? An adventure. Anything related to Micah? An adventure to be sure! A weekend at the zoo? An awesome adventure! Everywhere she went adventure followed, and everywhere she went Micah never seemed to be too far behind.

Still, this time she was going to be obedient. Stick by her family and-

Nah. No way. Micah always found her, and if he didn’t? Well, she was eleven now, and not too soon she would be twelve. She knew how to take care of herself! She just very rarely chose to go alone because it was not as practical as if she was with someone else. Kind of like how playing on a swing was more fun when someone pushed you, as long as it wasn’t you who was pushing and all that.

Though that wasn’t the point. The point was that Kai was very much set on finding her own way around the park. She didn’t really feel the same connection to animals as her sisters or brothers. It was sort of there, but in the end her preference was still machinery. Just plain old, electronics and other hardware that would with time most likely be able to see themselves outlive the young kid.

Even then she was getting ahead of herself.

With a thoughtful scan of the horizon she thought of her next move. There were far too many options available. She would have to take the grown up alternative of ‘wait and see.’

[member="Micah Talith"] [member="Marek Starchaser"] [member="Aela Talith"]

Aela was through the gates almost the instant the man spoke.

She moved fast, using the force to move faster. It was partly to avoid the crowd, and partly because she was excited. An animal park meant a mix of larger animals, a greater range of creatures to talk to and interact with. She felt her heart racing, a smile form on her lips. She moved quickly, faster than the rest of the crowd, and without much delay found herself standing in the center of the park itself.

Her eyes swept over the park.

She saw large enclosures, huge swaths of jungle, and fences.

The last made her frown. Fences? So she could only look? Her face drooped slightly, disappointment showing through as she trotted over towards one of the large mesh enclosures. Bright orange eyes peered through, squinting slightly as she looked to find some of the animals. Behind the cage she found a collection of Reek.

Massively huge horned beasts. They trundled along and walked in circles, looking happy enough.

Aela watched them for a few moments, then began to turn her head and look for signs of other people. A brief thought entered her mind as she gripped the fence. What would Micah do?

And where were the spiders
Maybe Marek had made the wrong choice in opening this place up. Sure, he was hardly going to be here, the liners had more interesting people coming and going, but when he opened the gates and the horde of hell’s minions children ran through, he nodded. Yeah, he’d make a few trips here during operational hours, but very few. Let Ryan designate someone to run the day to day options and report up the chain. Delegation, something Marek was only starting to understand.

Walking from the podium and into the park after the guests had all made their way in, he felt it was a bit of a time to change. Making his way to the administration office, where he was borrowing one of the intern’s offices. What was her name? Alice? She was blonde, that was all he really remembered about her. And she was working REALLY hard for her job. Anyway, he changed out of his suit and tie and into a bit more casual Friday look as he stepped back out into the park.

He wanted to get a view of how everything looked from the tourist side, and see if there was anything he could notice that he needed.

And where the feth was Alana? He would have to have a talk to Sasha.

[member="Marek Starchaser"] [member="Aela Talith"] [member="Kaili Talith"]

Micah would release a mouthful of hot air between his lips, sinking his cheeks as he began to scout. His hands would slip into his jackets pockets, the noise of various casino and zoo patrons enjoying the opening day festivities.

He figured he would have to start relatively easy first -- but where was the fun in that?! As he would weave his way through the patrons, one specific sentient came to his attention. He had a mop of blonde hair, looked a bit on the raggedy side, and didn't seem to be around any particular group.

[member="Marek Starchaser"].

Perfect.

Tracking someone through the Force was an interesting thing. The Force was in everything and all things; even Yuuzhan Vong to a degree -- it would still interact with them but just not quite how people would expect. He had studied on Zonoma Sekot and the Yuuzhan Vong. Some of the stories his father had told him about the Horde back in Moross Territory fascinated him -- although he was unaware that Sol had deliberately not given the full disclosure, they were still kids after all -- and he was curious to learn more.

But that was for another time. Right now, the focus was on tracking a singular person through the Force. To start, he was going to use a visual as well as open up his senses to the Force specifically to this one guy. Kinda like trying to find a fingerprint.

His brows would focus, and the Force would swell in him. Concentrating on the man, he would attempt to pilfer as much information as he could through the Force to get a good read on him.

Then he would wait.

And the hunt would begin.

And where were the spiders
So, what was first was Marek Starchaer was going to go to the raptor exhibit, because raptors were flipping aesome. Then he was going to check out the plant eating dinosaurs and that giant water one! He heard that was awesome too. And nothing would escape from the enclosures and cause a panic. Not with Chris Pratt on the case, who could probably enter the drift with Raptors. check out the main attractions. He and his partners in the Beast Hunters Guild made a list of creatures that were the most rare, predators, and things that could only be described as cute. Those were the stops he was going to make first. Between that and feeding times? He was making his way through the crowd with a mission.

He wasn’t even paying attention to the Force. He knew that his skill with danger sense was enough that if something was seriously wrong, he’d know, but until that point? He’d continue on like he normally did. He tended to enter this… passive mode. There was so much he could do without the Force and so little he could do with it, so he wasn’t always letting it in, but he wasn’t ever blocking it. That was not something that Marek Starchaser could do. With him though, the Force did go in waves, like with all Starchasers and was very closely tied with their emotions. When they got heightened, the Force seemed to work better, but only on certain emotions.

In this mind set? He wasn’t blocking anything out and would probably be relatively easy to find.

How lame of a Master was he?

[member="Micah Talith"] [member="Aela Talith"] [member="Kaili Talith"]

Like a fly in his web, [member="Marek Starchaser"] would send tiny ripples and vibrations through the Force over to Micah. A grin would stretch across the youth's face.
Got him!

He was pleased. Granted, he realized he was just starting to test the boundaries of his capabilities. Having a person flare up in the Force and tapping to get their imprint while you can see them was one thing. Doing so when you lost visual contact was another. He also bet that distance would be an issue, as he found out with his sisters as that would increase.

For the moment, he would use the Force to try and pick up unique characteristics of the man. He would walk a distance away, keeping him in sight. This was a work in progress and he had to make sure he kept him within sight.

She looked around one more time, her fingers curling on the fence.

There was still no one here, no one to watch her, no one to stop her. Aela's gaze shifted to the animals in the park, her lips curling slightly in a smile. Her head swiveled one last time, blonde hair floating from side to side, and then quietly, Aela took a page out of her little brothers book.

She began to climb the fence.

It was quick affair, the force pushing her over the edge almost instantly. Her hands wrapped around the metal and her deft feet found placeholders within the tall metal. With a quick scramble Aela ascended the metal wall, pulling herself up and over the chain link fence. With one fast jump Aela dropped from the top and hit the floor with a thud.

A last look behind herself and Aela smirked, heading in the direction of the animals.

So, uh, there Kaili was left alone with her parents as [member="Aela Talith"] went off on her own little adventure just like [member="Micah Talith"] set off on his hunt for [member="Marek Starchaser"]. Boy, this was... Something about this didn’t feel just right. In one sense she was happy to be here but at the same time it felt a bit like cheating. Having animals trapped inside an enclosure was kind of the opposite of what the young adventurer wanted. She wanted the monkey-lizards to jump at her and try to tear her apart! Not just stare leisurely at her as they mated in public!

A small sigh parted her lips. At least she could find comfort in-

Wait. Was that a vending machine? That was a vending machine! Pointing at the machine she asked her mother for a credit. None was given but that didn’t bother her. A fake smile of appreciation later and she set off for the metal locker of sugary sweets.

Not that the candy was the interesting part. The hum of the dispensing unit was. Slowly the kid raised her hand to cover her nose as if to fake indecision. Mother had taught her this trick, father too. With it she had been able to bend smaller electronics to her will. She had never really tried anything as big as a candy dispenser before, but it was certainly tempting to try it for reasons that would be obvious to any sweet tooth out there.

She focused on the small coin slot. Something inside of it was bound to be able to bent ever so slightly to her will, right?

Corey's OOC

And where were the spiders
This was quite the place. But one thing he was nticing was that there was a lot more going on than he suspected. He wasn’t really reaching out in the Force, but the sheer number of children? Not something that Bright Star execs were really familiar with. He was going to have to upgrade his insurance. He was getting reports from some of the guards that children were climbing fences? Something like that. That was just not going to do well, honestly. He was getting some reports that there was a child in one of the exhibits? Or someone thought they saw that happened.

Fething brats…

This was why Marek took the option to get that disease possibility fixed. Shaking his head, he tapped his comlink twice and got Ryan on the horn. The pair were going to meet up outside the exhibit. Was this seriously how day one was going to go? Him chasing ghosts of people wanting to get closer to the animals? Sure, Mrrew had selected pretty docile creatures for the exhibits, but still… insurance.

It was like that time he had to help save frycooks at the expense of MREs and tanks. That was not a fun trip. Anyone streaming Marek’s consciousness in the Force would see that he was a bit panicked, and hurrying right now, even if his pace was collected.
