Institutional Memory [Ileris/Sasha]

"Director Volcata," the foreman said, touching the brim of his hardhat as Aurelia Volcata pulled on one of her own. "Good morning."

"Good morning," Aurelia responded, handing over one of the matching paper cups to the foreman. "How are we looking today? I trust our numbers are showing as good or better than what we discussed last month?"

The foreman nodded. "Yes, Director. The First Order's losses at the Battle of Castemere are our gain. They've placed extensive orders to replace their fighter lines destroyed in the battle. Production lines are up eleven percent over our projects. Even without these losses, we were more than meeting our best projections."

"Good," replied Aurelia, nodding thoughtfully. "I'd like to be able to report to Mr. Sonn and Ms. Santhe that this line is doing its part -- more than." The pair walked down the line, Aurelia pulling random workers off the line to quiz them on the production they were doing and to investigate their work. She did these spot-checked quality control inspections at random to ensure that they were putting out the best product. As they concluded the tour, Aurelia turned to the foreman and nodded. "Excellent work, as usual. If there's time, I'll bring the bigwigs down to meet you, but I'll certainly mention your name."

Aurelia turned back to the turbolift; it was time to prepare for the arrival of [member="Sasha Santhe"] and the retirement reception for [member="Ileris Sonn"].

[[OOC - [member="Kira Vaal"] - if you can please post Ileris Sonn at least once in this thread to satisfy the Development Thread requirement for the factory submission for SJFS, I would appreciate it. Thanks!!]]

He had done it.
The ink on Ileris’ official handover of Sienar-Jaemus was barely dry when the new state issued head had been appointed. That was the way with progress though, always fast and cut-throat. The Moff, or at least retired Moff barely had time to look at his office on Cloud City before departing for the shuttle designated to take him further into First Order territory, away from the Galactic Alliance border and in Ileris’ opinion closer to danger.

However it was as the Supreme Leader demanded and as such he would accept it all. The plans for the station removed from SJFS’ systems as he was ordered. Such plans were not ready for certain eyes. No he would continue, as he always had…Independently.

"I'm sure he'll be here," said Aurelia to the assembled guests in the executive conference room in Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems' conference room, when Sonn was five minutes late to the reception.

"His shuttle must have been delated," she said apologetically, when he was twelve minutes late.

When he was twenty minutes late, Aurelia set down her champagne flute on the conference table and said, "I'll go see what's happened."

Aurelia left the conference room, where the board and other contemporaries of Ileris Sonn had gathered to wish him well, and strolled down the broad, tastefully-decorated hallway towards the executive suite. She pushed the door to the outer office open and flashed a broad smile at Tev, the young man who was holding down the fort here. "Good morning, Tev," she said graciously. "Has he arrived? We're all down in the conference room."

Tev looked perplexed. "I'm sorry, Ms. Volcata," he said. "His office on Bespin removed it from his schedule -- declined the invitation."

Aurelia frowned thoughtfully. She wasn't sure the extent to which Sonn's departure from the company was voluntary, or if more entertaining possibilities had tempted him away, but she had been hoping that the company and Sonn would part on good terms, with the former being able to express their heartfelt gratitude to the latter. I guess that was expecting a lot, she told herself, her eyes glancing to the side. "That's too bad. We've got champagne and canapes and cake in the conference room." She paused and then looked back at Tev. "Come have some cake with us. You've always loved cake."

It was true. Tev was enthusiastic about three things: women, huttball, and cake -- and he was particular about the flavor and quality of only two of the three. So it came as some surprise when Tev said, "Sorry, Ms. Volcata. Thank you, but -- [member="Sasha Santhe"] would like to speak to you. She's..." And Tev described the location where Aurelia could find Ms. Santhe, and Aurelia went to find her.

Sasha Santhe

Majority Share Holder, Santhe Corporation
Sasha Santhe was on a bender. Or at least pretending to be. At first she was the alcoholic, arrogant, and angry woman that the media made her out to be. Young, stupid, pretty, and didn't care. Now though, well now she felt it was more appropriate to keep up appearances. Let the multitude of thems and they think she was a good for nothing drunk CEO. Truth was she was a Sith Lord trained by the Empress of an Empire. She tangled with Velok on a good day and tore knowledge from his mind, and she invented some of the greatest war machines known to to the galaxy.

Sipping the glass in front of her she considered the situation. Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems was a small part of her operation. She had allowed the First Order to do pretty much as they pleased and now they wanted a new change in leadership. That was fine fro Sasha. She barely knew Sonn who was being replaced. Her biggest worry was that a higher profile CEO running Jaemus would attract attention. Her main facilities were located throughout the galaxy, on Coruscant in Galactic Alliance space and the headquarters and primary facility on Lianna inside the Silver Jedi's wall of terror. Korriban city, really had there ever been anything so absurd," Sasha said looking at the news and continued coverage of the fallout. Sasha's greatest fear was that these entities would see Sienar-Jaemus as her moving from her neutral stance and that they would begin to seize her assets. Sasha didn't want another war.

Looking up from her particularly fruity cocktail she noted the time. With a little extra effort on her part she motioned the bartender over and paid her tab. Plus the bar's tab. It was a small thing really. With cheerful and clapping crowds, excited that the nice lady had paid for the nights drinks, Sasha left the building. That's right... all eyes on Sasha.

Sasha arrived finally at the office of [member="Aurelia Volcata"] just after the appointed hour. Okay like an hour after the appointed hour. Sasha was sure someone rescheduled. It was fine. Besides seeing this new persons reaction would help better give her an indication of what she was like.

Aurelia pushed the door to her outer office open and entered. As a mere department head, her office was smaller and less impressive than Sonn's, but she had her own assistant and a multifunction printer, so it wasn't all bad news. The printer scanned and faxed, too. It was a seriously decent printer, which was why she was troubled to see her assistant jamming down on the buttons like it was just a regular, plain old printer. "Fiona, what on earth -- where is Ms. Santhe?" Fiona turned, putting a hand to her chest. "I'm sorry, Aurelia, I was just trying to get this thing to -- well, never mind. Ms. Santhe is in your office."

"Why didn't you say so?" Aurelia demanded. "How long has she been here? Why didn't you find me?"

"She just got here. I went to the conference room, but -- "

"Never mind," said Aurelia. She leaned over to study her appearance in the mirrored finish of Fiona's computer screen, pausing to adjust her short blonde bangs briefly before turning. "Bring in two waters. And coffee and tea service." Aurelia smoothed her dress and then glanced at Fiona again. "Now!"

The director pushed the door to her inner office opened, strolling across the room towards [member="Sasha Santhe"]. "Ms. Santhe -- so sorry to keep you waiting," she said, smiling apologetically. "It's been something of a chop and change morning. I thought Mr. Sonn would be coming, but I'm afraid his office just called and said he couldn't make it." Aurelia offered her hand for a shake. "I've got coffee and tea and water on the way, but if you'd prefer something else I'm happy to send for it."

[member="Aurelia Volcata"] spoke and Sasha turned to her beaming her with one of her best tabloid smiles. She hadn't done that in awhile and yet it still came back to her as naturally as when she was a girl. "Oh I'm sure coffee and tea and water will be more than acceptable miss Volcata." Sasha had to admit that so far this woman wasn't rattled and that impressed her to some degree. It's a shame about Mr. Sonn though isn't it?"

She waved her hand dismissively at the comment. Sasha liked to emote when putting on a spectacle, and this is what qualified in recent days. How the mighty had fallen. "So I've been summoned from Lianna to here. Let me ask you something. Why? Merely to inspect a factory line here? Hardly seems worth the effort. I've done tours of Sienar Facilities before, even had a hand in building more than a few personally. I have entertained this request on the off chance that there is something here. Perhaps more entertaining, more diverting, or just more intriguing. You know I think this is only the second time I've had my presence requested like this."

Aurelia raised an eyebrow. This all seemed new to her, but she would play along. "A shame about Sonn?" she echoed, her eyebrows lofting as if to say I'm not sure I'd go that far. "His steady guidance will be missed by many, I'm sure. I won't be one of them. I feel there's more we can be doing to exploit our licensed franchises -- the TIE lines, specifically -- than Sonn seemed to want to do. To be frank, I'm not sure what it was, exactly, he had planned, if anything. Our engineering teams have brilliant designs, ready to prototype, but have been stymied by the C-suite of Sienar-Jaemus," said Aurelia, her shoulders shrugging delicately. "But I suppose we're getting ahead of ourselves. I asked to meet with you to discuss an idea I had to take advantage of lucrative tax structuring being offered by the First Order."

At that moment, the assistant came in with coffee, tea, and water, wheeling the cart in between the two women. Aurelia used this diversion to gather a prospectus for [member="Sasha Santhe"].

"In order to entice business to operate in their territory, the First Order is offering really attractive tax structure deals. They'll defray the cost of building infrastructure there -- factories, shipyards, whatnot -- and give us a discount on payroll and corporate income tax for employing citizens of their worlds. I've laid it all out, including advice from our accountants on page 3, commentary from legal on page 5, but most important is page 7 -- bottom line to the shareholders, Sienar-Jaemus, and Santhe." Aurelia poured herself a cup of coffee and sipped it gingerly as she watched Sasha. The unpredictable mogul was going to be a touch nut to crack, she thought.

The meeting ended shortly after, and Aurelia set right to work. The first order of business was to implement the new efficiencies she was planning. The supplier contracts would have to be reviewed, and she would need to set up a time to tour new administration facilities on Dosuun. Hopefully, within the same building as the offices for Brandt-Volcata Industries. It would be a challenge leading both corporations, but it wasn't beyond Aurelia's reach and grasp. She had been a Republic Senator and Minister of State, and stood in for the Prime Minister on several occasions, without breaking a sweat. This shouldn't prove to be much more demanding, and with her condition in remission, it should be eminently doable.

"Fiona," said Aurelia into the intercom. "Schedule a half hour with the heads of each of the divisions."

Next thing she knew, Aurelia was in the conference room with the heads of the divisions, laying down the law. There were going to be new policies put in place to build efficiency, to expand output and accelerate research on critical projects. "We have a lot of exciting opportunities on the horizon, and I know that we're going to pull together and exceed expectations on all fronts. Thank you, everyone. I'll be sitting in on department meetings in the next few weeks, so please copy me on those meeting invitations. That's all -- see me with questions."
