Inspecting the new recruits (Yvonne Delacroix)

[member="Yvonne Delacroix"]

She was an interesting person to say the least. Something about her made him nervous. But then again, he tended to be attracted to dangerous people, places, or things. So par for the course he supposed. Still, the way she moved and spoke had a way of keeping his curiosity piqued. "Of course." He said back, his eyes dropping to her fingers on his shirt for a moment and then back to her eyes. "Got to make sure my pilot is taken care of and ready for the trip after all. It just wouldn't do for you to be catchin' a cold right before an expedition now would it?" He finished playfully.

Tilts her head and smirks widely. "Sounds logical, though my ship's quarters is the only place I have. Thank you though." She responded but remained still waiting curiously now to see what he would do next.

Yvonne looked over her shoulder slightly as a shiver ran down her back but only spotted a guard a good distance away then looks back towards Ice. Delacroix always had that sense of when someone was ways away but watching, a sort of heightened sense.

"You needn't worry about them." He said with a slight nod toward the guards direction. "They are their to keep people away from hearing what business is discussed here. Nothing more." In fact the guards were their to keep an eye on Ice and protect him as well. But technically at the moment, what he said was true.

"As for your accommodations. If you would prefer better quarters here on the station, I'm sure we could arrange that." His grin remained as he edged ever so slightly closer. "But only if you want to of course. Whichever you prefer is fine with me. Just making sure you are comfortable while here." Again the words could definitely have multiple meanings and be taken a couple different ways. But only time it seemed would truly spell out which it was they both cryptically meant. Though at least to Ice, the games were becoming more obvious, but no less fun. He suspected she was having fun playing along too.

"I see. A useful set of guards then.." she said quietly as she figured there was more than just that in terms to why they where stationed. It was obvious and at the same time, didn't really need to be brought up. "Why don't you show me to your favorite quarters? That is if you wish too..you're the boss after all.." Yvonne responded then flashed a grin back towards Ice while she wraps one arm around his.

Taking her arm in his he chuckled. "Yes ma'am." He replied laughingly, and leaned over to get his bottle of whiskey. Can't forget that after all. Geez, that would practically be a crime. Eventually they made their way to his villas. It was located in the center of the complex at the very top. As the turbolift opened up, Yvonne would see a large circular room. Windows lined the entire wall all the way around to as to take advantage of the fantastic vistas that each of the 4 biomes provided. There was also a wrap around balcony that went around as well if one wanted to go outside and see better.

In the center of the room was a beautiful water feature with a double stair case that wrapped around that and led up to his bedroom. To the right, lay some comfy couches in front of a fireplace. To the left lay a more formal table for dining. On the other side of the staircase and out of view till you walked around was the main open air kitchen and bar area. In between the kitchen and stair case were the facilities and a couple other misc rooms.

As they exited the turbolift, Ice's "dog" came bounding down to stairs to greet his master and guest.

"Please, feel free to make yourself at home." He insisted. "Oh and that bag of bolts, is Rico." He said proudly of the droid that he and his team had created.

Follows Ice as he shown her his personal living space. A small smile crosses her red lips as she looks over the water feature. "You have a very beautiful place, Ice." she tells him then gives the arm that she had hers wrapped around a faint squeeze. Yvonne's mood seemed a bit happier, at least that was what she would seem like on the outer appearance.

Yvonne would come to a stop as he points out the dog. "Quite lovely. One of my favorite breeds." The Anzat turns and walks over towards the balcony and then leans a bit over resting her forearms on the railing while she looks about into the view.

He smiled widely. He honestly wasn't trying to show off. He just put a lot of effort into everything he designed. So it was always nice to hear when other appreciated what was created and thought well of it. "Thanks. On both counts." He said.

Ice tilted his head slightly as he watched her head to the balcony overlooking the forest and simply look out toward the view. Was something wrong? Had he done something to annoy her? Or was she really just looking at the view? Truly, this woman had him always on his toes and trying to figure her out. After a few seconds, he stepped out onto the balcony with her and leaned on the railing beside her. Casting a glance over the biome scenery, Ice soon turned his eyes back to her before gently nudging her with his shoulder. "Hey you." He said softly. "You ok?"

"Yes, I am fine...just enjoying the view. Since you brought it up earlier, how much you offering to pay me for this little transport job to your super-secret planet?" Yvonne asked calmly in a very relaxed tone suggesting that she was doing just that, enjoying the view. It made sense, she usually spends a good portion of her time off world floating about in space, docked in space stations, or in large metropolitan areas that where littered with sentients and dive catinas; it was just the nature of her chosen line of work.

Finally, Yvonne turns a bit to face Ice again and smiles. "Do you show off your estate to all of your hired pilots, or just a few of the special ones?"

Ice thought about it for a moment and then threw out a figure. "I was thinking around 50k. Not to shabby for a couple weeks work eh?". In truth, he could probably have gotten away with offering less. But one thing Ice believed in firmly was if you wanted quality people, you paid them a quality wage. That way they would continue to be quality people.

Her next question elicited a quick laugh, and he took a stance of mock offense. " Well believe it or not, you are the first pilot I have brought here. So there." He finished teasingly.

Yvonne rolls her eyes then shakes her head at his cop out answer. "Right..first pilot. Yeah, 50k sounds good. I suppose we should get some rest before heading out tomorrow." she said with a sigh.

He frowned slightly not sure what she meant at first. Then of course, it dawned on him and he face palmed with a sigh. "Oi. My apologies. I wasn't trying to imply that there were others and they simply weren't pilots. But anyway, yes...let's." He felt like a jerk. He really didn't mean it that way, but also knew trying to backpedal out of that blunder was pointless. She'd never believe him. As any real thought of maybe having some fun seemed now out the window, he'd still be a gracious host at least. Walking her up the stairs, she was led to a nice large bedroom. Everything was neat and tidy, with the air having a fresh almost spring like scent to it.

"You may have the bedroom. I'll be down stairs if you need anything." He gave her a small smile and a slight bow and turned to head back down stairs.

Giggles then shakes her head. "Bowing?" She teases him then winks. "Looks like its my turn to watch you walk away." With that last joke, Yvonne shuts the door.

The next morning, she stood hunched under the center hall of the Grimstrike, her YT 1300 working on some open panel. [member="Ice"]

Ice walked up the next morning, a backpack of supplies and a few weapons in hand. Knocking on the bulkhead when he caught sight of the tease of a woman, he asked simply. "Permission to come aboard?" A small smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he asked.

Yvonne jumps sightly and bangs the hand wrapped around handle of a screwdriver against the durasteel side of the compartment. "Oww..yeah..the ramp is over there." she says then closes the compartment's small hatch door once finished. "Do you have everything you need?" she asks Ice while walking over towards him and the loading ramp that leads up into the ship's cargo hold.

[member="Yvonne Delacroix"]

Walking into the ship, he nodded his head simply. "Jumpy are we?" A smirk broadened on his face. "I'd of thought you'd of gotten used to me by now." He cast a glance around before looking back to Yvonne. "The rest of the team will meet us planetside. The journey should only take us a little over a day. Depending on the hyperdrive rating of the ship anyway. What do you have her running at, if I may ask?" Walking up to her, he set his backpack of stuff aside and waited for her reply. While standing there, he was still trying to figure her out. Like the planet they were going to, she was a bit of an enigma to him. Sometimes she seemed playful, other times guarded, and still others outright jumpy.

With the somewhat erratic behavior, he couldn't really make head nor tails of her. Still, it's not like there was anything long term set in stone just yet. If it didn't work out, they'd simply part ways. This trip would determine just that.

Yvonne would follow Ice up into the ship and then hits the controls beside her to retract the ramp and close the cargo hatch. "Trust? I don't know. Does anyone ever fully trust another in our line of work? Do you trust me, Ice?" she asked in a bit of a sharp, direct, tone as her pale skinned arms crosses against her chest while her emerald-green eyes narrows a bit at the man in front of her.

"My ship? It's fast enough for you, Ice..just go sit down." she would spit out bluntly then walks past him towards the cockpit while she slid one arm after another out of her long trench coat and tosses it to the side revealing her curved formed dressed in those dark blue fitted jeans, white tank top and suspenders.

Ice was curious about the suddenly hostile tone she seemed to have today. What had be done now? With a light shrug of his shoulders, he countered. "Well it seem according to you, I certainly shouldn't trust you. Is that what you are after here? Because I'm thinking we may have gotten started off on the wrong foot if we're trying to build trust." His comment was definitely meant to include him as well. Especially considering his unintentional comment the prior evening.

When she brashly pushed past him to head to the cockpit, he followed her on up and took a seat in the navigators chair. As she powered up the ship and got them airborne, he began plotting the course they would take to get to Enigma Prime. It was all set and ready to go by the time they reached space. She simply had to engage the hyperdrive, and they would have an interesting day and a half long trip with not much to do. Given her apparently upset mood, he decided to not say anything else. Instead, he would just wait and see if she wished to talk more. If not, so be it.

Waits for Ice to finish inputting the coordinates into the nav computer then begins to run through a pre-flight check. Once finished, she undocks the ship and once ready, engages the hyperdrive. The stars peeled back into white lines as the engines roared while they kicked on and then sent the ship into hyperspace.

Yvonne places her forehead into her left palm while her elbow rests on a armrest attached to her pilot chair rubbing slowly. "Sorry..I am just not used to people trusting me. It's usually me being cautious, then those who get to know me are often repelled and not always very kind.." she mutters now quietly as her voice drops down softly almost inaudible.

"I usually just figure it's a waste of time too actually get to know anyone."

[member="Yvonne Delacroix"]

He raised a curious eyebrow her direction. "Well...why would people who get to know you be repelled? I mean, as long as your not rude, brash, or unkind....or are you saying you are naturally those things? Because then I might understand the people's reaction." If she were to look at him, he be brandishing a smile to show that he was only kidding around with her. "Look, if you don't want to get to know me. That's fine. I was looking to hire on a pilot and a slicer. But don't assume someone else doesn't want to get to know you. That's not exactly fair. to them."

He stretched in his seat and yawned. He honestly could see where she was coming from. She wasn't the only one who who was generally thought ill of. Ice himself had a few secrets of his own that he made sure were kept close. But he didn't understand not giving someone even the tiniest chance. It was like the previous night. Ice made one wrong comment. He didn't mean and yes it was a pretty bad the way it sounded. But to nail someone to a wall for it? It seemed like she had some trust issues that even he couldn't match, which was very surprising indeed.

"I guess just give someone a chance to prove your theory before you accuse them of it is all I'm saying. So maybe we can start over, ya?" He offered his hand to shake.

[member="Ice"]

"I often tell myself to do that..give them a chance." She smiles then looks back at him softly. "Plus..why scare away someone who's so handome?" She'd ask but not shake his hand. "You..don't want to touch me..I'm often quite cold.."
