Strengths:
Intelligent - Nikolai is naturally intelligent, and he's been give the best education possible on a myriad of subjects.
Charismatic - While he can be infuriatingly vague, like most Chiss, Nikolai can function fairly well with Chiss and non-Chiss alike, adopting an easy attitude with the latter that tends to put them at their ease. This is entirely an act. Much as one might baby-talk an animal, Nikolai does something very similar with non-Chiss, they're just not smart enough to figure it out.
Diplomatic - Nikolai knows almost every trade language out there. This is because the Aristocra of House Inrokini uses him for most diplomatic meetings and the like. He knows how to behave in almost any company, and can play the social chameleon if it means the advancement of the Inrokini Family.
Planner - The current moment is only of minimal interest to Nikolai. He is more concerned about three years down the road. This is not a man you want to play Chess with. This makes him an effective and often brutal tactician, diplomatically and in military matters.
Combat Training - Before being chosen as Syndic, Nikolai had intended to pursue a military career. He's a skilled unarmed combatant, practicing primarily the Sliding Hands discipline, a good shot with nearly any blaster or slugthrower, can pilot a ship either on his own, or command an entire fleet. He is likewise capable and trained to command troops in combat, train soldiers, and is passable with most common melee weapons.
Weaknesses:
Xenocentrist - While not afraid or hateful of other species, Nikolai firmly believes the Chiss and their ways are ideal. Other species are childlike at best and barbaric at worst.
Slow to Act - Nikolai is patient and scheming to a fault. Acting hastily is not in his repertoire. This does mean he can miss opportunities, and enemies can occasionally get the jump on him. Or seem to.
Ambitious - Not only for himself, though there is a reason Nikolai rose to Syndic, but also for House Inrokini as a whole, and then to the Chiss people. The normally careful Nikolai will occasionally take staggering risks if the possible reward is great enough.
Avarice - Though he is for the most part careful to remain above reproach, Nikolai likes the finer things in life. Assuming the risk is not great and the chances of being discovered are low, he is bribe-able, and might consider leeching funds for himself and his Family given the opportunity.

Appearance:
Like most Chiss Nikolai has an excellent metabolism, this combined with his habitual training bouts mean he is perpetually in extremely good shape. He is taller than the average Chiss, a fact that he knows and enjoys, feeling his stature is only fitting for one in House Inrokini.
While always almost obsessively cleanly, Nikolai appears slightly disheveled as often as not. This, like most things, is calculated on his part. It encourages others to think of him as slightly harried, slightly confused, perhaps just not quite on top of things, leading them to underestimate him, which he always takes full advantage of. At the same time, he is never disheveled to the point that he would bring shame to House Inrokini. His clothes tend to be tailor made, the colours vary, as House Inrokini has no set colour.
Nikolai allows his hair to grow on the longish side, to the point that it can be tied back and almost always sports a well trimmed beard.
