Kay took a seat as she pondered on how to answer [member="Bralin"] 's question. "It's a spiritual connection. There's a bond that we share, it enables us to communicate at times from far away. And I'm sure that we'd notice if one of us died." That was something that she wouldn't want to happen for quite some time.

She sipped her tea, raising a brow as Bralin explained how him and his kind were deemed as failures. She knew how that felt. Kay was deemed a failure in many eyes, herself. "Well, from one failure to another let me tell you that I think you're extraordinary. I'd love to hire you for more than one journey, if that's quite alright with you?" He was a unique vessel to be sure. And one that she rather enjoyed conversing with.

"Hm.... Interesting," Bralin answered to [member="Kay Arenais"] , clearly still curious. "It makes me wonder if such a connection is possible for my kind." He then heard Kay suggest hiring the living ship for more journeys. He thought for a moment. He had enjoyed speaking to Cessy, and it would give him a chance to travel and see more of the galaxy. He let out a hum, finally answering his passenger.

"I would definitely enjoy that. Thank you."

Kay gave a light shrug of her shoulders, although she wasn't sure if [member="Bralin"] could see it, so she voiced her reply. "I'm not sure. I suppose you won't know until you try."

She smiled as he agreed to be hired for more than just this journey. That was good. He seemed like a great travelling companion. "Wonderful. I often read while I'm on long journeys, or stuck in some place for a long length of time. Are you a fan of mysteries? Those are my favourites. When I was locked up for a time, I had a friend with me and I often read atories to him. It was nice and helped to pass the time in a good way."

Bralin would've nodded if he could. It would be interesting to see if it was possible. He could also tell she was happy with him agree to take on more work with her. Kay then asked if the starship enjoyed mysteries. He was quick to answer.

"I do. I find them quite interesting."

Kay sipped her tea and then smiled. "Wonderful. I'll be sure to read you some during our travels."

Her thoughts drifted for a bit. [member="Bralin"] was such an interesting creature, yet she couldn't help but think of his creation and how similar they both were in regards to being treated as failures. Though in her eyes, he wasn't one at all.

"May I ask why your creator considered you a failure? You don't have to answer if you don't care to though. I know that some experiences can be too painful to recollect." Kay had some of those. There were memories that she had that she shared with no one. Not even her husband was given the details. Some horrors were better kept hidden.

"I would like that. Thank you," He said when she said she could read, and then she asked why his creature considered him a failure. He let out a sigh, thinking of how to say it.

"Startreaders were created by weapons makers. They were creating us as a type of living warship, but discovered that our hulls couldn't support weapons systems. They... threw all of us out, but they did not seem to realized how... sentient we were. It wasn't something they ever even mentioned, and we didn't know how to communicate with them at the time. So... we left."

"Oh...." Kay hung her head a little as she heard the answer to her question that [member="Bralin"] gave. She just stared at her cup of tea, knowing very well the kind of treatment that he was given by his creators. It wasn't as though she had ever done that to someone, but she knew exactly how it felt.

"I was made to be a weapon too. And after finishing my first mission that they oversaw, I was abandoned and thrown out with no reason given. Now they just want me dead. I'm just a reminder that they are capable of failure. But really, they are the ones that have failed me." She sipped her tea. "Perhaps your creators have failed you too."

A surprised feeling could be felt by [member="Kay Arenais"] coming from Bralin as he heard that she too was considered a failure by her "creator." How she was forged as a weapon, and then tossed out. It was definitely something he could relate to. He thought for a moment, thinking of the things he had heard of the Force.

"I can't say where their my creators' minds were at the time, but I've thought of something. I've been told that the Force works in mysterious way, so perhaps it brought us two failures together for a reason."

((OOC: Sorry for the delay. RL issues to deal with))

Kay nodded in agreement. The sentiment that [member="Bralin"] spoke of was one that she had heard of as well. Her husband had spoken it a few times from what she could recall.

"That could very well be true. Though I wonder what that reason could be? To share stories? To help eachother in some way?" She had already hired him to be her transport. But maybe there was going to be much more to it than that. If not now, there certainly would be later. In fact she knew that to be true. Her gut told her so. Kay was pretty confident in thinking that he'll save her life one day. Maybe she'd be right.

((No problem.))

Bralin thought for a moment on Kay's words. He did wonder what would bring the pair together. The whys of it. The bioship thought more before finally speaking.

"It is difficult to really say. I think you may be correct on both fronts though. Both to share and help each other. I hope that the reason will be good for both of us." The Startreader wasn't sure what the future would hold, but something told him it would be good for both himself, and his new employer and friend.

Kay smiled a little. "I hope so too, [member="Bralin"] ." Although she hoped that just knowing her and working for her wouldn't make him a target of her enemies. Such was often the case, though if she were to keep travelling under her alias of Cessy, that could work in their favour.

"How long can you stay within the atmosphere of other planets? Does it depend on their air pressure and gravity fields? Or the chemicals within the atmosphere?" She wouldn't want to endanger the bioship in that regard. Of course she was certain that he knew his limits very well and how to avoid the dangers. Kay just wanted to know for peace of mind.

[member="Kay Arenais"] would be able to feel the the living ship seemed happy when she agreed with him, and then a curiosity at her question. He thought for a moment, trying to think of what he knew.

"As far as I know, as long as the atmosphere does not contain any chemicals that would eat at organic material, I should be ok. As for gravity, I thing that high gravity worlds could be dangerous for Startreaders to enter the atmosphere of. Exactly how much gravity we can take though... I am unsure. I would assume if it doesn't risk most life, that my kind would be safe to enter. Temperature extreme worlds should also pose little risk." It was easy for Bralin to guess that hot worlds would be less risky for him. He was a ship after all. He dealt biting cold and blistering heat constantly. If he couldn't handle these worlds, then he'd have to question how his creators built him.

Kay nodded as she listened, though she knew that [member="Bralin"] couldn't see it.

"I'm not too fond of extreme temperature worlds either. And I'll be sure to keep you from them should I be sent to one. But it's good to know what you can handle."

Kay finished her tea and set the cup aside. Trouble always tended to find her and she wondered just how much danger she'd put Bralin in. "Have you ever encountered a fleet? I mean one that was aggressive?"

"Yes. Could make for a good escape." It was then that Cessy asked about whether the living ship had fought a fleet. The ship seemed to become more neutral in how he spoke, wondering how to answer.

"I have faced pirates before. They think Startreaders are an easy target due to our lack of weapons, but our hulls are very hard to crack. Other than that though, I have never faced a fleet."

[member="Bralin"] had encountered pirates, but never a fleet. Kay wasn't sure of whether or not that was a good thing or not. There was always a first time for everything, however. It was just that should he get hurt....

That raised another question.

"Bralin, should you get hurt, how would it that you be healed? A hospital wouldn't be large enough for you. What would you require? How much time would it take? If you're ever hurt in my service, I'd surely have you looked after until you are well again." Having friends hurt was never a good thing, especially if they were trying to protect her. Kay had many enemies, so the odds of them being under attack was higher than normal.

Bralin honestly didn't know much about how injuries healed for his kind, but he knew some of it, and could at least answer.

"I honestly don't know much. Most injuries can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to heal, depending on the injuries. In that time, it often helps to remain in a nebula to take on extra material. However, I am unsure how a major injury, such as the lose of a drive tail, would heal, or the potential effects. And thank you, for the offer to help however possible."

Kay nodded. Sometimes it was difficult for her to believe that she was actually speaking with the ship, and one that wasn't even an AI program. Yet she had had made friends with even some AI beings. She had all sorts of friends. Or rather she used to...

"You're most welcome. Trouble tends to follow me or find me somehow. You'll see. One thing that I can promise is that it probably won't be boring."

This trip aside, there was bound to be dangers chasing them. Kay had many enemies. Going incognito wasn't always so easy. Spies, betrayers; all of them tended to help make her life difficult. No longer was she with her family, all of them spread across the Galaxy. It was a lonely existence, but the sacrifice one makes for a public life of service.

Bralin thought for a moment. Trouble tended to follow her? Interesting to say the least. It was interesting to finally talk to someone who wasn't one of his kind. He then spoke up.

"Well, it would be boring if nothing interesting happened. We'll face them when they come."

Kay smiled. More than likely [member="Bralin"] could feel the gratitude that she felt. "You're very brave. Many would turn me down because of the kinds of trouble that I draw in."

She chewed the inside of her cheek a little as a thought came to mind. "Have I told you my real name yet? Or have I only been thinking of doing so? We've chatted for so long that it's hard to remember." Most of the time she was asking him questions. Now he could do the same to her.

Bralin was honestly surprised that that his friend had called him brave. Were so few willing to help? Either way her question got Bralin thinking. She had never told him her real name. He thought for a moment, the "sighed."

"No. I don't believe you have, though with what you told me I can understand why."
